NCT ID: NCT02281812 Terminated - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Radiofrequency Ablation in Breast Cancer

Start date: September 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Background/Main objective: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive procedure widespread accepted in the treatment of different tumors, especially in the liver but its benefit is not yet well-known in breast cancer. Our main objective is to evaluate the usefulness of RFA in < 2cm malignant breast tumors to reduce the proportion of positive margins. Methodology: The investigator propose a single-center, single-blind, phase I and II randomized controlled trial. Phase I:Security of the cool-tip cluster electrode assessing the potential adverse effects in three stages: initial, intermediate and final. Phase II: Randomized clinical trial, 2 parallel groups with 37 patients in each one. Experimental group: percutaneous RFA previous to conventional lumpectomy. Control group: conventional surgery with lumpectomy. The number of positive margins in both groups, and the need of extending margin resection will be assessed intraoperatively. Inclusion criteria: women >40 years, infiltrating ductal breast carcinoma by biopsy. The tumor must be unique, visible by ultrasound, smaller than 2cm and located > 1 cm from the chest wall and the skin. Patients will be followed up for a period of two years to assess cosmetic result, short -term and long -term complications and recurrences. Expected results: The "cool-tip" (cluster) ablation method reduces by at least 30% the risk of intraoperative extensions for positive margins during lumpectomy compared to conventional surgery in breast tumors with a diameter < 2 cm. Therefore this procedure may reduce the risk of second surgeries and the removed volume of tissue.Consequently the final cosmetic result should be improved.

NCT ID: NCT02281721 Terminated - Cerebral Aneurysm Clinical Trials

The purpose of this observational post-marketing registry will be to collect and analyze safety, effectiveness, and quality of life outcomes, during and after treatment with the Surpass Flow Diverter. Health Economics assessments (cost data) will also be collected and analyzed.

NCT ID: NCT02279576 Terminated - Clinical trials for Penile Squamous Cell Carcinoma Stage IV

Study With Pazopanib and Weekly Paclitaxel in Penile Carcinoma (PAZOPEN-SOGUG)

PAZOPEN-SOGUG
Start date: January 2015
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Penile cancer is an uncommon disease, with devastating physical and psychological effects on patients. Penile carcinoma even in advanced stages is responsive to several chemotherapeutic agents. However, due to the low incidence of penile cancer, no large studies have been reported concerning chemotherapy. Various single agents were tested for activity en penile cancer in de 70s and 80s. Response rates ranged from 10 to 27% with cisplatin, 20 to 21% with bleomycin, and 0-62% with methotrexate. These agents in combination were tested in different studies. Other chemotherapy schemes have been studied, as combination of cisplatin with 5 fluorouracil with or without taxol, and cisplatin plus irinotecan. All of them in limited phase II studies, with described higher responses rates in some of them but without results confirmation in phase III studies. In conclusion, tested regimens so far have not been very successful in advanced stages of the disease. Antiangiogenic therapy has been demonstrated effective in the treatment of similar cancer types as lung and head and neck, so it can be postulated that antiangiogenic therapy can be effective in the treatment of penile carcinoma. Pazopanib is a new potent oral antiangiogenic therapy. Cytotoxic agents, such as paclitaxel, when administered at low doses and frequent intervals, may exert antiangiogenic effects, thereby enhancing anticancer activity. Recently, combination of pazopanib and paclitaxel administered in a metronomic schedule (80mg/m2 weekly 3 weeks every 4 weeks cycle) obtained a 40% response rate and an 80% of disease control in the first-line treatment of melanoma patients. Treatment was well tolerated. As paclitaxel and antiangiogenic drugs seem a very active treatment, combination of pazopanib and paclitaxel seems a good combination to be tested in patients with penile carcinoma.

NCT ID: NCT02263508 Terminated - Melanoma Clinical Trials

NCT ID: NCT02254928 Terminated - Infertility Clinical Trials

Corifollitropin Alfa Versus Daily rFSH in the Controlled Ovarian Stimulation of Poor Responders

MANCOR
Start date: September 2014
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

A randomised, crossover, multicentre, national, clinical trial comparing the efficacy of corifollitropin alfa versus daily recombinant FSH and HMG in the controlled ovarian stimulation of women with a poor ovarian response undergoing IVF treatments. The main objective of this study is comparing the number of oocytes obtained after the follicle puncture when using each of these two stimulation protocols. Only poor responders according to the Bologna criteria will be recruited for this trial. All participants will undergo two stimulation cycles to obtain and accumulate oocytes by vitrification. One of the cycles will be done with the corifollitropin alfa protocol and the other with daily rFSH and HMG, the order of application of these protocols will be randomised (crossover clinical trial) in each patient.
