Severe/morbid obesity is an international public health issue that importantly increases the risk of cardiovascular events and cardiovascular and all-cause mortality. Likewise, severe/morbid obesity increases the risk of illness, reduces quality of life, and raises health-care costs. Bariatric surgery is the election method for the treatment of severe/morbid obesity, resulting in significant weight loss and remission of comorbidities. However, a relatively large proportion of bariatric patients regain weight and continue to be at high risk for cardiovascular disease and premature mortality. A healthy lifestyle following bariatric surgery is essential for optimizing and maintaining weight loss. Observational studies suggest that physical activity following bariatric surgery might be associated with additional weight loss and more effective weigh loss maintenance over time. However, very little experimental evidence exists regarding the effects of supervised exercise on obesity-related outcomes in this specific population. The aim of the EFIBAR (Ejercicio FÍsico tras cirugía BARiátrica) randomized controlled trial is to determine the effects of a 16-week supervised concurrent (aerobic and strength) exercise intervention program, on weight loss (primary outcome), body composition, cardiometabolic risk, physical fitness and quality of life (secondary outcomes) in patients with severe/morbid obesity following bariatric surgery. According to the study aims the investigators pursue the following hypothesis: Supervised exercise will result in larger weight loss than control.
Study A011-09 is designed to assesses the efficacy and safety of sotatercept (ACE-011) relative to placebo in adults with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Eligible participants will receive study treatment for 24 weeks during the placebo-controlled treatment period, and then will be eligible to enroll into a 30-month extension period during which all participants will receive sotatercept. All treated patients will also undergo a follow-up period after last study drug treatment.
Phase III trial is designed to demonstrate the non-inferiority of a free diet versus a progressive diet in the treatment of acute diverticulitis (AD) without complications. In this study, the effectiveness of the short-term free diet is evaluated, as well as its safety and the quality of life that is perceived in front of the progressive diet.

A multicentre randomized double-blind placebo controlled parallel design (10 weeks) study investigating probiotic supplementation in highly impulsive adults (18-65 yrs; N=180). The probiotic studied is Synbiotic2000Forte that contain three well-studied anti-inflammatory lactic acid bacteria (LABs) and four fermentable fibers: Pediococcus pentosaceus 5-33:3, Lactobacillus paracasei subsp paracasei 19, and Lactobacillus plantarum 2362 in combination with the following four fermentable fibres: betaglucan, inulin, pectin and resistant starch. With this study we aim to detect, whether treatment with probiotics is effective in adults with high levels of impulsivity, compulsivity, and aggression.

Diabetes mellitus is the leading cause of polyneuropathy in the Western world. Diabetic neuropathy is a frequent complication of diabetes and may have great clinical transcendence due to pain and possible ulceration of the lower extremities. It is also a relevant cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with diabetes. Although the cause of polyneuropathy in patients with diabetes is only partially known, it has been associated with chronic hyperglycaemia suggesting the possible aetiopathogenic implication of advanced glycosylation end-products. The strategy of choice in the medical management of diabetic neuropathy is early detection since glycaemic control and the use of certain drugs may prevent or slow the development of this disease. Diabetic neuropathy most often presents with a dysfunction of unmyelinated C-fibers, manifested as an alteration of the sweat reflex of the eccrine glands. This dysfunction can now be demonstrated using a newly developed technology which measures dermal electrochemical conductivity. This noninvasive test is easy and cost-effective. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of dermal electrochemical conductance measurement (quantitative expression of the sudomotor reflex) as a screening test for the diagnosis of diabetic neuropathy in patients in primary care.
There are several publications that have demonstrated the protective role of cataract surgery against the development of long-term glaucoma, especially in cases of pseudoexfoliation glaucoma (PXFG). Cataract surgery in patients with pseudoexfoliation (PXF) is a procedure with higher rates of complications due to its smaller pupillary diameter and its greater zonular weakness, so lens extraction performed earlier could possibly reduce intra and postoperative complications. Given the severity and high prevalence of PXFG in our environment, investigators proposed a randomized clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of cataract surgery in reducing the intraocular pressure (IOP) at 12 months and thereby change the course of the disease. The control group will have glaucoma treatment according to standard practice.
The study is randomized and it will be conducted in the field of routine clinical practice. A total of 100 consecutive patients planned to receive radiotherapy for prostate cancer will be enrolled. The patients will enter the study as controls (50 patients that won't receive any experimental IMP) or as treated-group (50 patients that will be also treated with the experimental IMPs, Ialuril® and Ialuril® Soft Gels) according to a predefined, centre-specific randomization.
