There are about 21071 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Spain. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
It is well established that screening for Down syndrome should be offered in the first trimester to each pregnant woman. The most common screening method is nowadays the first trimester combined test which consists of a Bayesian analysis of the a priori risk of maternal age for Down's syndrome, and the posterior risk combining serum biomarkers such as beta fraction of the human chorionic gonadotropin (β-hCG), pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A), and nuchal translucency measurement. Women at high risk for trisomy 21 or 18 using this combined test are eligible for chorionic villous sampling or amniocentesis for a final diagnosis. In recent years there has been a huge advance in prenatal screening for Down's syndrome with the advent of cell free DNA testing with higher sensitivity and specificity than the combined test, in which a positive result must be also confirmed by an invasive diagnostic procedure. But as the range of options broadens, also the need for health education to allow women to have an adequately informed decision process on which prenatal test better suits their needs. In multicultural cities, this has become especially important to integrate patient's values and expectations to an evidence-based decision regarding prenatal testing. There is high-quality evidence demonstrating that aversion to risk of fetal loss related to an invasive test may come from incomplete information, shaping the attitude towards which test to choose from the mother's point of view. And the disbelief that by taking cfDNA testing the risk of miscarriage would be reduced. Many information is available about preferences and attitudes in prenatal testing from Northern European studies, but scarce information is available from Southern Europe, where the amniocentesis rate in the nineties was as high as 40% of the urban pregnant population. The investigators hypothesize that when enough information is given before the initial screening, women will overcome aversion to invasive testing and will be more likely to choose this method as their first choice when compared to women having routine care.
Ischemic heart disease is the most frequent cause of mortality in the surrounding countries. Once a coronary event is over, there is a high risk of readmission, recurrence and, mortality, attributed to a sub-optimal control of cardiovascular risk factors (CVRF), highlighting the need to improve secondary prevention strategies aimed at changing lifestyle and therapeutic adherence. Preventive measures should be initiated during hospitalization as recommended by the clinical guidelines. The objective of this study is to evaluate, through a randomized controlled clinical trial, the effect of an intervention based on a web application of health (e-Health) on lifestyle (diet, physical activity and tobacco consumption) and medication adherence in people with coronary heart disease after percutaneous coronary intervention. The sample will consist of 240 participants, 120 in the intervention group and 120 in the usual care group that will be evaluated at the beginning and nine months after hospital discharge regarding sociodemographic, clinical, CVRF, lifestyle and therapeutic adherence characteristics. The educational intervention, monitoring and self-monitoring will be carried out using a web-based e-Health tool, mobile phone application. The quantitative primary results will be compared between the two groups using ANCOVA adjusting for age and sex. Multivariate analysis will be carried out to examine the association of the intervention with life habits, control of CVRF, as well as with the evolution after discharge in respect of cardiovascular events, emergency and re-entry views.
The increase in life expectancy worldwide, added to the decrease in birth rates, has resulted in an increase in the aging population. In the case of Chile, 11.4% of its inhabitants are older adults and specifically, in the Til-Til commune, 14.65% of the total population is over 60 years of age, directly affecting the neuromuscular system and mainly cardiorespiratory. Therefore, the older person lives longer, but with a lower quality of life. Physical exercise appears as a non-pharmacological alternative to improve the quality of life, physical and cognitive functions. The "multi-component training" consists of a program that combines strength, resistance, balance and gait training, and is the one that presents the greatest improvements in the functional capacity of the elderly person. The objective of the present investigation is to relate the effects of a multi-component training schedule by phases on the quality of life, functional capacity and physiological parameters in a group of people over 60 to 80 years of age in the commune of Til-Til.
The aim of this study is to improve knowledge about mechanical gait assistance combined with virtual reality efficiency in gait recovery for Parkinson´s patients. It is hypothesised that 12 sessions of 30 minutes each, over a 4 weeks period, of antigravity treadmill rehabilitation combined with virtual reality treatment is effective for increase gait autonomy in patients with Parkinson's disease.
Hypothesis: Percutaneous ambulatory carpal tunnel release offers similar outcomes to the open approach in the theatre. Study design: Two-groups randomized single-blind interventional non-inferiority clinical trial.
This study aims to investigate the efficacy of three psychotherapeutic programs in group format: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Behavioral Activation (AC) and Transdiagnostic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TD-CBT), for the treatment of emotional disorders. Considering the data of the literature and the results of previous research, it is expected that this clinical investigation shows that transdiagnostic interventions that are tested (AC, ACT, TD-CBT) cause clinical changes in the post-treatment. However, it is expected that in post-treatment and in the short and medium-term follow-up, significant differences will be found between the transdiagnostic therapies examined in all outcome criteria variables; and that the greatest effectiveness and effectiveness be achieved in contextual therapies, in particular, in Behavioral Activation therapy. It is expected that the study design will allow obtaining firm evidence of the active therapeutic ingredients from the analysis of the differential efficacy of each of the psychotherapeutic programs. As a final consequence and based on the results and discussion on transdiagnostic conditions and transtherapeutic elements, it is expected to develop a unified treatment protocol (in group format -as an efficient work format and appropriate to the needs of public health services-) to be easily applied in the field of primary care. It could facilitate access to effective treatment of common mental disorders in public health services.
Randomized controlled trial, in parallel with cross-control design. Two groups of healthy subjects will be randomly selected to transcranial stimulation group or suboccipital stimulation group. Each group receive in a randomized order a real direct current session and a sham session. The study is based on the hypothesis that the application of direct current sitmulation applied at the suboccipital level produce higher modifications on endogenous pain modulation system than transcranial stimulation.
This study evaluates effectiveness to apply prompted voiding in urinary incontinence and dependence patients admitted at functional recovery ward in a mid-stay hospital. This behavioural therapy is recommended in Best Practice Guidelines, and it has good results in elderly living in the community or in nursing home but yet it has not shown his benefits in hospitalized elderly patients for a long time.
The purpose of this study is to collect information from study participants who are hospitalized with an invasive disease caused by Extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC). This information will be used to support the development of a new vaccine to prevent Extraintestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli (ExPEC). E. coli bacteria are a leading cause of serious infections. Especially adults older than 60 years have a higher risk of developing such infections. To date, there is no vaccine available to prevent E. coli infections. To support the development of a vaccine, more information about E. coli infections is first needed. This information will be collected in the current study, such as: - Medical information such as medical history, diagnosis, duration of hospitalization - Treatment and outcome of the Extraintestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli (ExPEC) - Laboratory information
This registry study is a one-year, one-visit, observational, prospective, open-label, two-arm, multi-center, multi-national, post-market study of approximately 300 patients who have recently been fitted with the ACUVUE® OASYS with Transitions™ and approximately 300 patients who have recently been fitted with spherical nonphotochromic reusable marketed silicone hydrogel contact lenses (of any brand). Eligible subjects will be asked to complete a Patient Registration Questionnaire several times throughout the year.
