There are about 21071 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Spain. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The persistence of primitive reflexes in school-age children can affect neuromotor maturation. Some studies link the persistence of primitive reflexes with specific learning difficulties, low academic performance, neurodevelopmental disorders, and behavioral problems. There are studies that suggest introducing intervention programs to help integrate the activity of these reflexes. The objective of this study is to assess the effects of implementing a motor program on the neurologic maturation of second-grade children throughout an academic year in Catalonia. A prospective experimental longitudinal and randomized pre-post study will be conducted with two groups: Non Intervention group and intervention group, known as the INPP Movement Program Group (with daily application of the motor program), lasting for one academic year (from September '23 to June '24). Currently, a feasibility study will be conducted at a school in Valls, with a sample of 50 children, and data will be collected at the beginning and end of the academic year. The study will analyze primitive reflexes, motor skills related to balance and coordination, oculo-motor skills, and the risk of presenting dyslexia. Once the feasibility study is completed, the same study with appropriate modifications will be carried out in different schools across Catalonia during the academic year 2024 - 2025 (yet to be determined).

To rehabilitate patients after the loss of their own teeth, dental implants are nowadays the therapy of choice if the indication is suitable. In order to successfully place implants in the patient's jaw, a sufficient supply of bone in vertical and horizontal dimensions is necessary. Human bone is generally always in the process of reconstruction and changes over time. If there is not enough substance left for rehabilitation with implants due to previous degradation of the alveolar bone, bone augmentation can be performed. For this purpose, mainly autogenous, xenogenic or allogenic bone material is used. Bone augmentation using allografts shows satisfactory results in clinical use and has advantages such as elimination of morbidity associated with autogenous bone graft harvesting. In addition to the use of conventional and prefabricated graft blocks, it is now possible to produce individual allogeneic bone blocks using computer-aided design based on the patient's radiological data. After this bone has been placed in the patient, it can be restored with implants after a healing phase of about 6 months. In order to make the treatment as predictable as possible, it is crucial to know how a bone augmentation changes over time and whether bone remodelling or resorption occurs. How allogeneic bone blocks behave with regard to their stability and treatment success has already been investigated in some studies, but to date there is no study that deals with the difference between prefabricated, conventional and individually manufactured CAD/CAM allogeneic bone blocks. By retrospectively analysing existing clinical data, the aim is to compare how the two methods, prefabricated bone blocks and CAD/CAM-fabricated bone blocks, perform during the healing phase. A virtual volume analysis method of 3D digital imaging data (cone beam computed tomography scans) will be performed, which allows not only linear punctual evaluation but also area and volumetric analysis. Furthermore, the in the grafts inserted dental implants will be examined in terms of survival rate, complication rate and marginal bone loss by evaluation of the available follow-up records of up to 12 years.
The aim of the study is to demonstrate that conduction system pacing (CSP) can preserve a normal ventricular function compared to right ventricular apical pacing (RVAP) in patients with pre-implant preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and a high burden of expected ventricular pacing due to atrioventricular conduction block (AV block). After informed consent signature, patients with high degree AV block and normal LVEF will be randomized to permanent pacemaker stimulation with CSP vs RVAP. All the patients have a complete evaluation before the procedure and at 3 and 6 months follow-up.
Minimally invasive thoracic surgery is increasingly popular. Recently, a new minimally invasive thoracic approach, robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (RATS) has been developed. RATS presents some advantages compared to VATS such as three-dimensional view of the surgical field, its precisions facilitates the navigation in difficult to access spaces and eliminates tremor which reduces learning curve and it may have a reduction of complications. During RATS and differently from VATS, not only one lung ventilation (OLV) is needed but also a continuous tension capnothorax. CO2 insufflation with intrathoracic positive pressure has a potential negative impact on the cardiorespiratory physiology. Moreover, CO2 insufflation and one lung ventilation can produce ventilation induced lung injury which are related to pulmonary postoperative complications (PPC). In order to reduce PPC and ventilation induced lung injury, lung protective strategies are used which reduce atelectrauma and overdistension. These strategies consist of three main pillars: use of low tidal volumes, performance of recruitment maneuvers and application of optimal positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP). However, optimal PEEP levels and actual effects of PEEP are not clear. Several clinical studies with one-lung ventilation have reported improved oxygenation and ventilation when an alveolar recruitment maneuver is performed with a standardized PEEP of 5 to 10 cm·H2O. Nevertheless, other studies observe during one-lung ventilation improvements in oxygenation and lung mechanics with individualized PEEP determined by using a PEEP decrement titration trial after an alveolar recruitment maneuver. The effect of a tension capnothorax during RATS may modify pulmonary compliance and optimal PEEP may be different from patients having VATS resection. Even though both methods are habitual in the clinical practice, there are no studies of the effect of an alveolar recruitment maneuver with individualized PEEP during one-lung ventilation in Robotic-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (RATS). The investigators hypothesized that such a procedure would improve oxygenation and lung mechanics during one-lung ventilation in RATS compared with the establishment of a standardized PEEP. The investigators perform a descriptive observational prospective study to test this hypothesis.
Both preoperative anemia (PA) and perioperative blood transfusion can contribute on poorer outcomes after colon cancer surgery. Anemia is known to be associated with a slower recovery after surgery thus often worsening short-term results, and allogenic red blood cells transfusion (ARBT) are known to promote systemic inflammatory response and affect overall and cancer-specific survival. Patient Blood Management (PBM) systems are an evidence-based multimodal approach focused on safe and rational use of blood products, mainly through a proper PA assessment, a minimization of procedural blood loos and strict transfusion policies. Given the high prevalence of PA in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC), and its association with adverse events, it is expected that PBM implementation in said scenario carries a decrease in complications and an improved survival rate. Available literature to date supports preoperative anaemia screening and restrictive transfusion policies, nevertheless barriers exist that limit the expected implementation of PBM systems in colorectal surgery. The present study aims to evaluate feasibility of a PBM pathway implementation in a high-volume CRC Surgery Unit based on completion of anemia screening and treatment before surgery and changes of allogenic products use along the years. The objective is to estimate the impact of a proper preoperative optimization with iron intravenous infusion (IVI) on PA measured from changes Hemoglobin (Hb) levels in comparison to those of non-anemic patients.
