NCT ID: NCT04151875 Recruiting - Malocclusion Clinical Trials

Effect of Extraction Vs Non-extraction Orthodontic Treatment on Vertical Facial Dimension

Start date: June 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the current clinical trial was to evaluate the effects of premolar extractions compared with non-extraction orthodontic treatment on the skeletal vertical dimension of the face. The null-hypothesis is that there is no difference in post-treatment skeletal vertical characteristics of normodivergent and hyperdivergent patients treated orthodontically with first premolar extractions compared with patients treated in non-extraction manner.

NCT ID: NCT04151381 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Recovery From Anesthesia

The Effect of Preoperative Aminophylline

Start date: November 2019
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

Several clinical studies and case reports suggested that aminophylline antagonizes the effects of diazepam , barbiturates , sevoflurane ,morphineand propofol. However, the available results from uncontrolled clinical settings make it difficult to quantify the specific effects of aminophylline on hypnotics and anesthetics

NCT ID: NCT04151355 Recruiting - Colorectal Cancer Clinical Trials

Effect of Atorvastatin on 5-Fluorouracil Induced Mucositis

Start date: October 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

5-Fuorouracil (5-Fu) remains one of the most effective and most commonly used drugs to treat colorectal cancer. Mucositis is a major complication that occurs in approximately 80% of patients receiving 5-FU and results in abdominal bloating as well as vomiting and diarrhea. oral mucositis (OM) are often very painful and compromise nutrition and oral hygiene as well as increase risk for local and systemic infection. OM is characterized by an intense inflammatory reaction on the mucosa lamina propria cells, which results in activation of the transcription factor NF-kB. The activation of NF-kB leads to transcription of genes involved in the synthesis of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α. Agents known to attenuate the expression of cytokines have demonstrated efficacy in the prevention of experimental mucositis. The use of atorvastatin were associated with reduced production of TNF-α and IL-1β and decreased neutrophil infiltration evidenced by histopathological analysis and Myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity. In addition, atorvastatin also reduced oxidative stress and induced an increase in non-protein sulfhydryl groups showing anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory action.

Recanalization of Congenital Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction by Endodiathermy Probe and Intubation Versus Intubation Only

Start date: March 2020
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the current work is to assess the efficiency and success rate of endodiathermy probe followed by intubation in children more than 2 years compared to the success rate of intubation (as a standard method) which varies from 75% to 85% in several studies
