Multi-Center Phase II Study to Compare MER-101 20mg Tablets to Intravenous Zometa 4mg in Male Bisphosphonate-Naive, Hormone Refractory Prostate Cancer Patients

Start date: February 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The objective of MER-101-03 is to examine the effects of two different dosing regimens of MER-101 20mg tablets versus Zometa 4mg IV infusion once-monthly therapy. The effects will be monitored on a weekly basis by measuring various markers of bone metabolism. Patients to be enrolled will be those who have not received any previous bisphosphonate therapy. The study will be carried out on prostate cancer patients who are no longer on hormone therapy. Treatment in the study will be for a 2-month period.

NCT ID: NCT00636246 Completed - Clinical trials for Depressive Disorder, Major

A Comparison of Sertraline-reboxetine Combination Therapy Versus Sertraline or Reboxetine Monotherapy in the Treatment of Major Depression.

Start date: June 2004
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study was designed to determine if the novel combination of the SSRI, sertraline, and the NRI reboxetine will increase antidepressant efficacy without sacrificing the favorable safety profile of SSRIs.

The purpose of this study is to show the non-inferiority of different formulations of GlaxoSmithKline Biologicials' influenza vaccine.

NCT ID: NCT00629551 Completed - Clinical trials for Depressive Disorder, Major

An Eight-Week Study of Saredutant and Paroxetine as Combination Treatment for Major Depressive Disorder

COMPASS
Start date: February 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of saredutant 100mg or 30mg once daily in combination with paroxetine 20mg once daily compared to saredutant placebo in combination with paroxetine 20mg once daily in patients with major depressive disorder. The study also includes a double-placebo group (saredutant placebo in combination with paroxetine placebo).

NCT ID: NCT00627640 Completed - Clinical trials for Idiopathic Parkinson's Disease

Safinamide in Idiopathic Parkinson's Disease (IPD) With Motor Fluctuations, as add-on to Levodopa

SETTLE
Start date: February 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Parkinson's Disease is a major neurodegenerative disorder in which there is a progressive loss of dopamine-containing neurons. The understanding that PD is a syndrome of dopamine (DA) deficiency led to the introduction in the clinical practice of L-dopa, a precursor of DA that crosses the blood brain barrier, and also to the use of selective inhibitors of MAO-B, the major DA metabolising enzyme in man. Safinamide is an inhibitor of MAO-B. This is a phase III trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of safinamide (50 and 100 mg p.o. q.a.m.) compared to placebo as add-on therapy to a stable dose to levodopa in subjects with advance idiopathic Parkinson's Disease. The principal efficacy measure is the increase in mean daily "on" time during the 18-hr diary recording period.

NCT ID: NCT00625898 Terminated - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

BETH
Start date: April 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The trial will determine the value of adding bevacizumab to chemotherapy plus trastuzumab in patients with resected node-positive or high risk node-negative, HER2-positive breast cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00624130 Completed - Contraception Clinical Trials

Yasmin 20 Cycle Control - Yasmin 20 Versus Mercilon in Healthy Female Volunteers

Start date: March 2004

NCT ID: NCT00623727 Terminated - Hemophilia A Clinical Trials

BAY79-4980 Compared to rFVIII-FS in Previously Treated Patients With Severe Hemophilia A

Start date: June 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

A study to assess treatment with a new formulation of recombinant factor VIII reconstituted with liposomes (BAY79-4980) to evaluate whether a once-a-week treatment is safe and can prevent bleeds in subjects with severe haemophilia A.

NCT ID: NCT00622700 Active, not recruiting - Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Trials

Phase III Study With Teriflunomide Versus Placebo in Patients With First Clinical Symptom of Multiple Sclerosis

TOPIC
Start date: February 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective is to demonstrate the effect of teriflunomide (HMR1726) (14 milligram per day [mg/day] and 7 mg/day), in comparison to placebo, for reducing conversion of participants presenting with their first clinical episode consistent with multiple sclerosis (MS) to clinically definite multiple sclerosis (CDMS). The secondary objectives are: - To demonstrate the effect of teriflunomide, in comparison to placebo, on: - Reducing conversion to definite multiple sclerosis (DMS) - Reducing annualized relapse rate (ARR) - Reducing disease activity/progression as measured by Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) - Reducing accumulation of disability for at least 12 weeks as measured by the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) - Proportion of disability-free participants as assessed by the EDSS - Reducing participant-reported fatigue - To evaluate the safety and tolerability of teriflunomide - To evaluate the pharmacokinetics (PK) of teriflunomide - Optional pharmacogenomic testing aimed at assessing the association between the main enzyme systems of teriflunomide metabolism and hepatic safety, and other potential associations between gene variations and clinical outcomes
