Non Steroidal Antiinflammatory Drugs Influence on Heal of Distal Radius Fracture

It is believed, that Non Steroidal Antiinflammatory Drug (NSAID) drugs slows bone healing, but the knowledge is based only on animal studies, and the results are automatically raised for the people. Many patients with bone fracture must therefore avoid the formerly so popular and good painkillers, although no clinical trial evidence is, that this medicine is really harmful for patients with fractures. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether these drugs slows bone healing, and what the relationship is between various bone studies - DEXA scanning, biochemical bone marker tests, radiographic controls and tissue examination of newly formed bone under a microscope. How sensitive and specific, each of the above study methods? If they are just as sensitive, the cheapest of them recommended as a routine investigation on suspicion of bone effects. Furthermore, to compare the benefit (pain-relieving effect, influence on rehabilitation) of these drugs and their possible harmful side effects (affected and delayed bone healing). The expectation is that the study may contribute to increased knowledge about NSAIDs effect do pain management, rehabilitation and the entire treatment process significantly easier and safer, so that patients recover faster and return to usual activities.

Maintenance Treatment for Children With Constipation

Constipation is a common problem among children. The majority of children suffering from constipation have no underlying disease. Although constipation has no basis in underlying disease, it often leads to a reduced quality of life of children who are on par with or worse than for children suffering from serious diseases such as cardiovascular and rheumatic diseases. Despite the high frequency of constipation among children, little is known about the causes and treatment of constipation. Treatment consists of symptomatic treatment with various laxatives. Movicol and Movicol junior has proven very effective and are therefore widely used in children as disimpaction and maintenance treatment. There is currently no research to prove the need for and length of maintenance treatment with laxative medications in children. The purpose is to examining the effectiveness of maintenance treatment with Movicol. Additional til study will examine how the anal diameter change during a course of treatment and the degree to which it can be used as an indicator of treatment efficacy. The study will test the following: • What is the effect of maintenance treatment with PEG compared to placebo? The results from this study are expected to form the basis for an evidence-based approach to the use of maintenance therapy and the use of ultrasound of the rectum in children with constipation.

Solifenacin succinate as a tablet formulation is already on the market for the treatment of symptoms of overactive bladder in adults. For the use in children and adolescent patients a new formulation of solifenacin has been developed. This study investigated the effect and safety of solifenacin succinate liquid suspension compared to a non-active drug (placebo) over a 12-week period. The 2 weeks prior to the double blind period was a single-blind placebo run-in period in combination with behavioral urotherapy (Non-interventional diary assisted urotherapy consisting of overactive bladder (OAB) information, awareness, instruction, life-style advice and documentation of voiding habits and symptoms for OAB), followed by a 12 week daily treatment period. The study also investigated how well solifenacin succinate suspension is taken-up by the body and how long it stays in the body during this time.

A Study of Pertuzumab in Combination With Herceptin (Trastuzumab) And Vinorelbine in First Line in Patients With Metastatic or Locally Advanced HER2-Positive Breast Cancer

This two-cohort, open-label, multicenter, phase II study will assess the safety and efficacy of pertuzumab given in combination with Herceptin (trastuzumab) and vinorelbine in first line in patients with metastatic or locally advanced HER2-positive breast cancer. Patients will receive pertuzumab 840 mg and Herceptin 8 mg/kg administered sequentially as separate iv infusions on Days 1 and 2, respectively, of Cycle 1. From Cycle 2 onwards, patients will receive pertuzumab 420 mg and Herceptin 6 mg/kg, administered either sequentially as separate iv infusions on Day 1 and Day 1 or 2, respectively (Cohort 1) or together in one infusion bag on Day 1 (Cohort 2) every 3 weeks. Vinorelbine will be administered at 25 mg/m2 iv on Days 2 and 9 of Cycle 1, and at 30-35 mg/m2 on Days 1 and 8 (or Days 2 and 9) of each following 3-week cycle. Anticipated time on study treatment is until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity occurs, or withdrawal of consent or death.
