NCT ID: NCT00235287 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Pulse Wave Velocity, Pulse Wave Morphology and Blocking of the Reninangiotensin System in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease

Start date: September 2005
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine whether a combination therapy with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE)-inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers reduces the arterial stiffness assessed by applantiontonometry more than a single treatment in kidney patients.

NCT ID: NCT00231400 Recruiting - Pompe Disease Clinical Trials

Pompe Disease Registry Protocol

Start date: September 15, 2004
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

The Pompe Registry is a global, multicenter, international, longitudinal, observational, and voluntary program for patients with Pompe disease, designed to track the disease's natural history and outcomes in patients, both treated and not. Data from the Registry are also used to fulfill various global regulatory commitments, to support product development/reimbursement, and for other research and non-research related purposes. The objectives of the Registry are: - To enhance understanding of the variability, progression, identification, and natural history of Pompe disease, with the ultimate goal of better guiding and assessing therapeutic intervention. - To assist the Pompe medical community with the development of recommendations for monitoring patients, and to provide reports on patient outcomes, to optimize patient care. - To characterize the Pompe disease population. - To evaluate the long-term effectiveness of alglucosidase alfa.

NCT ID: NCT00228098 Recruiting - Stroke Clinical Trials

Smoking Cessation Intervention After Stroke or Transient Ischaemic Attack.

Start date: February 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Patients with stroke or transient ischemic attach should receive advise on smoking cessation. It is however unknown if an intensive smoking cessation program is better than ordinary advise on smoking cessation during hospitalisation for stroke or transient ischemic attack. The aim of the study was to assess if an intensive smoking cessation program made more patients stop smoking after stroke or transient ischemic attack.

NCT ID: NCT00224731 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Attention Disorder With Hyperactivity (ADHD)

Sleep Disorders in Children With ADHD

Start date: December 2003
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

ADHD is often associated with sleep difficulties. Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most common problem presented to children mental health services. The disorder affects approximately 5 % of school-age children. The core symptoms of this disorder include varying degrees of inattention, impulsiveness and restlessness. In addition to the core symptoms, ADHD is associated with other problems (e.g. academic underachievement, poor social relations and sleep disturbances). Despite clinical observations of sleep problems in children with ADHD, there is little empirical research on this topic. The prevalence, type of sleep problems, and significance of these sleep disturbances in children with ADHD remain undocumented. The objective is to determine the relationship of sleep problems to attention deficit/hyperactive disorder, comorbid disorders, and the effect of stimulant treatment.

Comparison of Adalimumab and Infliximab Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Start date: September 2005
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to establish whether RA patients with moderate to severe disease activity with unsustainable response to infliximab 3 mg/kg every 8 weeks have better efficacy with adalimumab 40 mg s.c. eow compared to infliximab 3 mg/kg i.v. every 6 weeks.
