A Study to Test 2 Doses of the HRV Vaccine in Healthy Infants.

Start date: August 5, 2003
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The main objectives of this study are: 1) In a subset (N = 20 000), to determine vaccine efficacy against severe rotavirus (RV) gastroenteritis (GE) during the period starting from 2 weeks after Dose 2 until one year of age. 2) In all subjects (N = 60 000), to determine the safety of GSK Biologicals' HRV vaccine with respect to definite intussusception (IS) within 31 days (Day 0-Day 30) after each HRV vaccine dose.

NCT ID: NCT00139776 Completed - Clinical trials for Osteoarthritis, Knee

Study Of "Continuous Use" Of Celecoxib Vs. "Usual or Intermittent Use"

Start date: July 2005
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

To determine whether "continuous use" of celecoxib over a 6-month period is more efficacious than "usual or intermittent use" in preventing spontaneous osteoarthritis flares of the knee and hip.

NCT ID: NCT00137345 Terminated - Kidney Transplant Clinical Trials

Study Comparing Sirolimus With Cyclosporine in a Calcineurin Inhibitor (CNI)-Free Regimen in Kidney Transplant Recipients

Start date: June 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine if one drug is superior to another with regard to safety and the preservation of renal function after a kidney transplant.

NCT ID: NCT00134563 Completed - Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Trials

Study of Teriflunomide in Reducing the Frequency of Relapses and Accumulation of Disability in Patients With Multiple Sclerosis

TEMSO
Start date: September 2004
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective was to determine the effect of teriflunomide on the frequency of relapses in patients with relapsing multiple sclerosis (MS). Secondary objectives were: - to evaluate the effect of teriflunomide on the accumulation of disability as measured by Expanded Disability Status Scale [EDSS], the burden of disease as measured by Magnetic Resonance Imaging [MRI] and patient-reported fatigue; - to evaluate the safety and tolerability of teriflunomide.

NCT ID: NCT00130897 Approved for marketing - Clinical trials for Carcinoma, Renal Cell

Treatment Use Study With Sunitinib (SU011248) For Patients With Cytokine-Refractory Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma

Start date: July 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Expanded Access

The primary objective of this protocol is to provide access to SU011248 treatment for patients with metastatic RCC who are ineligible for participation in ongoing SU011248 clinical studies and have the potential to derive clinical benefit from treatment with SU011248 based on the judgment of the investigator.

NCT ID: NCT00129766 Completed - Clinical trials for Respiratory Syncytial Virus Infections

Study of MEDI-524 (Motavizumab) for the Prophylaxis of Serious Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Disease in High-Risk Children

Start date: November 2004
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of this study was to compare the safety and efficacy of motavizumab to palivizumab when administered monthly by intramuscular (IM) injection for the reduction of the incidence of RSV hospitalization among children at high risk for serious RSV disease. A secondary objective was to compare the incidence of medically-attended lower respiratory infections (LRIs) between treatment groups.

NCT ID: NCT00128180 Completed - Clinical trials for Hantavirus Infections

Efficacy of Methylprednisolone for Hantavirus Cardiopulmonary Syndrome

Start date: January 2003
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to see if a drug, called methylprednisolone, is safe and effective in people with Hantavirus infection. Individuals 2 years of age or older are invited to participate in this study if their doctor suspects or knows they have Hantavirus infection. Volunteers will either be given methylprednisolone or placebo (contains no medication) through a needle inserted in a vein for 3 days. During the first 7 days of hospitalization procedures may include blood tests, physical exams, chest x-rays, and urine tests. During study visits on days 14, 28, 84 and 180 after diagnosis, the doctors will ask about health, examine the body, take a chest X-ray, collect blood for safety testing and for measuring antibodies, and do breathing tests on volunteers. Participants will be involved in the study for about 6 months.

NCT ID: NCT00125346 Terminated - Cystic Fibrosis Clinical Trials

Tobramycin Inhalation Powder (TIP) in Cystic Fibrosis Subjects

EVOLVE
Start date: September 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Lung infections are a chronic problem for patients with cystic fibrosis (CF). Some patients with CF may have a type of bacteria called Pseudomonas aeruginosa in their lungs that can cause infections or make their symptoms worse. Tobramycin inhalation solution (TOBI) is an approved antibiotic, which is inhaled directly into the lungs, and can be used to manage these infections. Tobramycin inhalation powder (TIP) is a new, experimental powder formulation of tobramycin that is inhaled directly into the lungs using a T-326 inhaler. The purpose of this research study is to determine if TIP is safe and effective when compared to placebo (a powder with no medicine) treatment.

NCT ID: NCT00124566 Completed - Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials

Study of Irofulven in Patients With Hormone-refractory Prostate Cancer

Start date: June 2004
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of irofulven-based regimens compared to mitoxantrone plus prednisone in patients with hormone-refractory prostate cancer (HRPC) whose disease has progressed following Taxotere based regimens.

NCT ID: NCT00123565 Completed - Clinical trials for Coronary Atherosclerosis

Hexadecasaccharide (SR123781A) in Patients With Unstable Angina or Non-ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction

SHINE
Start date: December 2004
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to test whether SR123781A is a possible treatment for patients with acute coronary syndromes (heart attack) who are scheduled to undergo a percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) within 48 hours after inclusion in the study. Two doses of SR123781A are currently tested, each in a group of about 180 patients per group to find which is the most adequate, versus heparin and glycoprotein IIbIIIa (GPIIBIIIA) antagonist.
