The purpose of this study is to determine if adding ASA404 to docetaxel chemotherapy makes the cancer treatment more effective in patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer
The primary aim of the project is to apply the non-invasive stimulated muscle force assessment system to i) intensive care unit patients and ii) patients with primary myopathy or subclinic myopathy (e.g., Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Myotonia, MH). The investigators will use this new methodology of force assessment to phenotype patients weakness during their illnesses (depict typical force pattern) and monitor recovery periods, or disease progression, respectively. This new system will be evaluated until the year 2018. The investigators will determine variables of isometric skeletal muscle force. These systems should serve as force monitoring tools and help to guide therapies.

The purpose of this trial is to evaluate the long-term effects and cost-effectiveness of adaptive servo-ventilation (ASV) on the mortality and morbidity of patients with stable heart failure due to left ventricular systolic dysfunction, already receiving optimal medical therapy, who have sleep disordered breathing (SDB) that is predominantly central sleep apnea. Assumptions: the intervention reduces the hazard rate by 20%. The event rate in the control group is 35% in the first year. It is assumed that the hazard rate is constant over time.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether FTY720 is effective in delaying MS disability progression compared to placebo in patients with PPMS.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Monoclonal antibodies, such as cetuximab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Cetuximab may also stop the growth of prostate cancer by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Giving docetaxel together with cetuximab may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying the side effects of giving docetaxel together with cetuximab and to see how well it works in treating patients with metastatic prostate cancer.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate by histology and histomorphometry, thirty human osseous biopsies sampled from fifteen patients (2 biopsies per patient) following 3 months of implantation. This study is part of a splitting-blind clinical investigation to compare the performance and safety of INION GTRTM Biodegradable Membrane System to resorbable bilayer Bio-Gide®-membrane of Geistlich biomaterials in enhancing bone regeneration after removal of wisdom teeth. The bone defect and alveolar cavity were augmented with Spongostan® dental 1x1x1cm, Johnson & Johnson, Spreitenbach, Switzerland. The extraction sites were covered on one side with an INION GTRTM Biodegradable Membrane System and on the other with Geistlich resorbable bilayer Bio-Gide®-membrane.
