There are about 9403 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Switzerland. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
5 Children > 3months and < 16 years with Gram-positive meningitis will receive a single dose of daptomycin 24 hours after the first dose of ceftriaxone. 4-8 hours after daptomycin administration a second lumbar puncture is performed to determine the peak concentration of daptomycin in the cerebrospinal fluid. In parallel peak and trough level of daptomycin will be measured in the plasma. The investigators anticipate that daptomycin penetrates into the cerebrospinal fluid in bactericidal concentrations
This study is intended to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Certolizumab Pegol (CZP) in combination with Methotrexate (MTX) for sustaining clinical response achieved in study RA0055 Period 1 [NCT01519791]. Subjects entering this study RA0055 Period 2 achieved sustained Low Disease Activity at Week 52 in study RA0055 Period 1.
The objective of this study is to determine whether in the setting of primary health care it is effective to treat with metronidazole returning travellers with gastrointestinal symptoms and B. hominis in the stool or not.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate patency rates of the eSVS Mesh Saphenous Vein Graph (SVG) and control SVG at six and twenty-four months via coronary angiography and analyses of Duplex Sonography Results and coronary angiography and major cardiovascular or cerebrovascular event (MACCE)-Rate as well as analysis of preoperative great saphenous vein (GSV) duplex sonography and intra-operative GSV harvesting findings and procedure.
Depletion of iron stores is frequently observed in regular blood donors, but effects of iron deficiency on general health is not well studied. Recent studies in women suffering of fatigue suggest iron deficiency without concomitant anemia as a common cause of these complaints. Provided the same is true in healthy subjects, substitution of intravenous iron might result in an improvement of general well being in iron depleted blood donors. Healthy regular blood donors will be screened for low storage iron. Qualifying subjects will be invited to participate in a randomized, placebo-controlled trial with substitution of intravenous iron or placebo (saline solution). Differences in subjectively felt fatigue and other factors of general health and well being will be assessed. If an improvement of such factors can be shown after iron replacement, relevant concerns about artificially lowering iron stores by repeated phlebotomies will arise and changes of monitoring and substitution policies in blood banking might have to be discussed.
This study is intended to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Certolizumab Pegol (CZP) in combination with Methotrexate (MTX) for inducing and sustaining clinical response in the treatment of Disease Modifying Antirheumatic Drug (DMARD)-naïve adults with early active Rheumatoid Arthritis.
The goal of this project is to evaluate the chronic effect (8 weeks) of RASILEZ 300mg (aliskiren) on renal tissue oxygenation in patients with stage 1-2 hypertension, and to compare the chronic effect (8 weeks) of RASILEZ 300mg (aliskiren) on renal tissue oxygenation in patients with stage 1-2 hypertension with these effects with those of ESIDREX 25mg (hydrochlorothiazide).
Children < 10 years of age often need deep sedation or anaesthesia to allow elective diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging; standard routine protocols are 1. propofol induction without other sedative (Propofol much as needed) or hypnotic drugs and propofol infusion 10 mg/kg h 2. propofol induction with ketamine 1 mg /kg (little repetitive Propofol doses as needed) and propofol infusion 5 mg / kg h both protocols are compared with regard to clinical outcome and, in cases with cerebral MRI, cerebral perfusion/blood flow. Hypothesis: 1. reduces recovery time compared to propofol mono sedation 2. combination of ketamine-propofol increases incidence of Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) compared to propofol mono sedation 3. combination of ketamine-propofol increases global cerebral blood flow and changes regional distribution of cerebral perfusion compared to propofol mono sedation
The aim of the study is to investigate whether a predictive score (combination of several validated predictors) better predicts postoperative left ventricular function than any single predictor in patients undergoing mitral valve repair for degenerative mitral regurgitation. A single center, prospective cohort study
The aim of this study is to evaluate, in healthy volunteers, the acute modulating effect of cinacalcet on the RAAS, the effect of furosemide on parathyroid secretion of PTH and the interaction between furosemide and cinacalcet on parathyroid hormone secretion.
