A Study of the Effect of Dalcetrapib on Artherosclerotic Disease in Patients With Coronary Artery Disease

This multicenter, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study will evaluate the effect of dalcetrapib 600 mg on artherosclerotic disease progression, lipid profile and biomarker profile and long-term safety profile of dalcetrapib in patients with coronary artery disease. Atherosclerotic disease progression will be measured 1. Coronary Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS), Quantitative Coronary Angiography 2. Carotid B-Mode Ultrasound Intima Medial Thickness (IMT) and total plaque volume in subjects undergoing coronary angiography who have coronary artery disease (CAD). Patients will be randomized to receive dalcetrapib 600 mg orally once a day or placebo. The anticipated time on study treatment will be 24 months. The target sample size is 800-1000 patients.

The study is divided in two parts: a phase IIa part, designed to establish the recommended dose (RD) of L19IL2 when administered in combination with a fixed dose of Dacarbazine, as well as to determine the preliminary tolerability profile; the second phase IIb part evaluates the objective response rate (ORR) including a randomized study with a fixed dose of Dacarbazine with or without L19IL2, dosed at the RD determined in phase IIa.

Prospective casecontrol study in glioma patients undergoing treatment with bevacizumab (Avastin). At present there are no data on the correlation between occurrence of arterial hypertension and clinical outcome in patients with glioma or anaplastic astrocytoma. We will investigate whether glioma patients developing hypertension under bevacizumab treatment have a better outcome in terms of progression free survival, response rate and overall survival than equally treated patients remaining normotensive. Moreover, we will describe the dynamics of change in blood pressure after administration of bevacizumab in those patients developing hypertension. - Trial with medicinal product

It will determine whether an integration of neuropsychological and psychotherapeutic techniques and an additional caregivers support program offers benefits to those in the process of coping with the effects of a stroke. The investigators expect the integrative neuro-psychotherapy to be more effective in the treatment of emotional distress reactions following a stroke than the structured solution focused treatment.

Symptomatic Therapy of Uncomplicated Lower Urinary Tract Infections in the Ambulatory Setting.

We propose to perform a randomized controlled patient and assessor blind trial in women between the ages of 18 to 70 years with acute uncomplicated UTI to evaluate initial symptomatic treatment for 3 days with the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug diclofenac (experimental intervention) against immediate antibiotic treatment with norfloxacin for 3 days (control intervention). Both interventions are followed by optional delayed antibiotic treatment with single dose fosfomycin if deemed necessary by the patients. The primary objective is to determine whether initial symptomatic treatment followed by optional delayed antibiotic treatment (experimental intervention) is non-inferior to immediate antibiotic treatment (control intervention) in terms of symptom resolution.
