There are about 9403 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Switzerland. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Prior to the injection, the facet joints have to be defined according to standard radiological techniques (e.g. MRI and physical correlation). Patients are then sent to 18F-Fluoride-PET/MRI imaging, in order to localize facet joints with increased uptake. Facet joints to be injected are again defined according to the location(s) of highest uptake as demonstrated by 18F-Fluoride-PET/MRI. The defined injection sites before and after PET/MRI are compared. In equal defined injection sites, patients are sent for infiltration as scheduled, otherwise patients are randomized into two groups. One group will undergo facet injection(s) according to the 18F-Fluoride-PET/MRI result, with standard injections performed under CT-guidance by the radiology department of the study site. The control group will undergo facet injections blinded to the 18F-Fluoride-PET/MRI results, but based on current standard clinical practise (MRI and clinical correlation). The patients are asked to complete a validated pain and function questionnaire immediately before the facet joint injection, at 15 minutes, 1 day, 1 week and 1 month after the injection, as performed routinely in our institution. The purpose of this study is to prospectively evaluate the value of 18F-Fluoride-PET/MRI imaging in patients with low back pain with evidence of painful facet joint arthropathy, which would potentially benefit from facet joint injections.
This randomised three-arm study aims to evaluate the efficacy and feasibility of a cognitive behavioral therapy (INT-Integrated Neurocognitive Therapy for Schizophrenia Patients) in the treatment of schizophrenia patients in an inpatient setting. The intervention will be compared with an active comparator (IPT- Integrated Psychological Therapy) and a control condition. Overall the study will include 90 patients (30 in each arm). Each patient will receive at least 16 sessions of the respective treatment. Baseline and follow up assessments up to 12 months after the intervention will investigate the stability of treatment.
The primary objective of the study was to compare the effect of sotagliflozin to placebo on total occurrences of cardiovascular (CV) death, hospitalization for heart failure [HHF], and urgent visit for heart failure [HF] in participants with type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular risk factors, and moderate to severely impaired renal function.
Retrospective data collection on re-ablations performed within the FIRE AND ICE Trial.
The prevalence of pre-hypertension and hypertension in the elderly is very high. Apart from medication, physical exercise training is a potential strategy to reduce blood pressure, however, the ability to perform exercise can be limited in the elderly. Hence, alternative non-pharmacological strategies to reduce blood pressure are necessary. Two interventions that have been shown to positively influence blood pressure are respiratory muscle training (RMT) and intermittent hypoxia (IH). Whether a combination of RMT and IH yields even better effects is currently unknown. Therefore, in this study, the effect of a single session of RMT with and without IH on blood pressure and associated cardiovascular parameters will be investigated in elderly subjects with pre-hypertension.
The main objective is to assess long term safety of treatment with oral nintedanib in patients with Systemic Sclerosis associated Interstitial Lung Disease (SSc-ILD).
The purpose of this study is to expand the knowledge on the efficacy and safety of emapalumab (previously known as NI-0501) as a treatment for primary haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) patients, including on long-term outcomes and quality of life assessments. Emapalumab can be administered as the first-line therapy to patients not previously treated with the current standard of care, or can be given to patients who have either failed or were unable to tolerate the available standard of care. Emapalumab is to be administered until the start of conditioning for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), with an anticipated duration ranging from a minimum of 4 weeks to approximately 12 weeks and not exceeding 6 months. After treatment completion, patients will continue in the study for long-term follow-up until 1 year after either HSCT or last emapalumab infusion (if HSCT is not performed).
The objectives of this study are to confirm safety and performance of the Anatomical Shoulder Domelock System when used in hemi or total shoulder arthroplasty by analysis of standard scoring systems, radiographs and adverse event records.
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease with multifactorial genesis. Recent research suggests a numerical and functional deficit of regulatory T (Treg) cells as an important contributing factor to the pathology seen in SLE. Treg cells play important roles in dampening overt stimulation of effector cells, as seen in many autoimmune diseases. As Treg cells are highly dependent on interleukin-2 (IL-2), application of low doses of IL-2 leads to markedly increased numbers and improved functionality of Treg cells in mice and humans. Several clinical trials investigated the safety of low-dose IL-2 treatment in different autoimmune diseases, including SLE. The trials conducted so far mainly focused on an increase in Treg cells after IL-2 treatment, not evaluating in detail the effects on other immune cells, presumably also playing important roles in the pathogenesis of SLE. For this reason, the investigators of this trial aim to conduct a complete phenotyping of cellular and soluble components in the blood of SLE patients treated with low-dose IL-2. Furthermore, the investigators want to offer this promising treatment to SLE patients in a controlled framework of an investigator initiated clinical trial.
