Primary Objective: To compare the effect of sotagliflozin to placebo on the total occurrences of cardiovascular (CV) death, hospitalization for heart failure (HHF), and urgent visit for heart failure (HF) in hemodynamically stable participants after admission for worsening heart failure (WHF) Secondary Objectives: To compare the effects of sotagliflozin to placebo on: - The total occurrences of HHF and urgent visit for HF - The occurrence of CV death - The occurrence of all-cause mortality - The total occurrences of CV death, HHF, urgent visit for HF, non-fatal myocardial infarction (MI), and non-fatal stroke - Change in Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire-12(KCCQ-12) score - Change in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR)
Pomalidomide is an approved treatment for refractory multiple myeloma. Toxicity of pomalidomide in the pivotal MM-003 trial, was considerable, with 60% of patients experiencing drug-related G3/4 toxicity. Neutropenia (48% vs 16%) and pneumonia (13% vs 8%) were significantly more common in the pomalidomide arm. This resulted in frequent dose interruptions (67%) and dose reductions (27%). This suggests that for the majority of patients the 4 mg daily dosing schedule is too toxic, and that strategies to deliver reduced dosing of pomalidomide are of high practical relevance. The aim of this trial therefore is to establish that alternate day dosing of pomalidomide (4 mg q2d, d1-28) is non-inferior to daily dosing (4 mg d1-21 q28) in terms of efficacy of the drug with potentially less side effects.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the technical feasibility of the new tube placement technology in healthy volunteers and, if proven feasible, in critically ill patients requiring placement of a feeding tube.
This study is designed to investigate the benefits of the hearing aid in the laboratory and in daily life when fitted with two different methods. Subjective and objective evaluations will be made. The aim is to show the benefits of the hearing aids with both fitting methods with the help of data obtained, and to improve the available fitting methods in order to further increase the benefit for people with hearing disorders in situations where the standard method and those trained to perform it are not available.
In this trial, women with history of recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) will be followed over the course of 6 months. The women will be randomized either to D- Mannose or Placebo. The primary objective of this study is to investigate if treatment with D-mannose reduces the risk for a UTI recurrence compared to treatment with Placebo. H0: Women with history of recurrent UTIs treated with D-Mannose on average have the same number of recurrent UTIs over the course of 6 months compared to women treated with Placebo. H1: Women with history of recurrent UTIs treated with D-Mannose on average have fewer recurrent UTIs over the course of 6 months compared to women treated with Placebo.
In systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), cardiac manifestations, e.g. coronary artery disease (CAD) and myocarditis are leading causes of morbidity and mortality. The prevalence of subclinical heart disease in SLE is unknown. The majority of schizophrenia patients is impaired in hand gesture performance, which contributes to poor functional outcome and poor communication skills. The left inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) and the left inferior parietal lobe (IPL) are key nodes of the gesture network, which is less active in patients with schizophrenia. Here, the investigators test single 10 min sessions of tDCS known to either enhance or inhibit local brain activity for app. 1 hour. The investigators aim to determine, which protocol may improve gesture performance in patients and healthy controls. This is a randomized, double-blind, cross-over, placebo-controlled single-center trial in 20 patients with schizophrenia spectrum disorders and 20 healthy controls. Gesture performance will be tested immediately after each tDCS session, which are separated by 24 hours. Results of this study will inform larger interventional trials comparing 2 tDCS protocols with repeated administration.
Randomised controlled prospective trial with 2 groups (active group with Lumbar plexus block (LPB)-catheter vs control group). In a randomized controlled trial, the investigators will investigate under controlled circumstances the effect of a LPB-catheter placed with ultrasound guided "Shamrock"-technique to improve postoperative pain treatment after unilateral open hip and femoral surgery in paediatric patients. The investigators will investigate the effect on opioid consumption and the reduction of opioid related side effects during the first 24 postoperative hours
