There are about 9403 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Switzerland. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The primary objective is to observe the impact of in-patient rehabilitation on physical activity in daily life using miniature, wearable sensors, fixed on the shoes. These sensors record data about various aspects of walking. The information on the therapy effect on daily life can complement the clinical information and the patients' subjective report on therapy induced improvements. The secondary objective is the association of changes in physical activity, self-rated walking capacity, self-rated fatigue and self-rated health-related quality of life, wich will be analysed for disease severity of the participants.
This is an open-label, multicenter, extension study. Patients who are receiving clinical benefit from atezolizumab monotherapy or atezolizumab in combination with other agent(s) or comparator agent(s) during participation in a Genentech or Roche-sponsored study (the parent study), who are eligible to continue treatment and who do not have access to the study treatment locally, may continue to receive study treatment in this extension study following roll-over from the parent study.
This is a pilot study to assess the first time use of the JGG endoscope® in humans and in primary care. The JGG endoscope® is attached to a Heine® otoscope and allows to inspect and to collect samples from the middle meatus of the sinus. The JGG endoscope® is sterile packaged, for one way use and disposable.
Sudden cardiac arrests is one of the most frequent causes of death. In Switzerland every year 8000-10.000 people suffer from a cardiac arrest. The EuReCa ONE Study showed regional differences in incidence and chances of survival after cardiac arrests in Europe. The current European Resuscitation Council (ERC) resuscitation guidelines 2015 recommend extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) as treatment option for therapy refractory out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA). ECMO used under cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is called eCPR (extracorporeal CPR). In the year 2018 eCPR is started to be used in Bern, Switzerland. This study investigates retrospectively the survival and neurologic outcome of patients after OHCA in the region of Bern, Switzerland from 2015-2018. The data will be used as baseline for a prospective evaluation of eCPR cases. The prospective Evaluation of e CPR will last from 2018 - 2022.
Although there is increasing evidence that low physical fitness is a risk factor for many non-communicable diseases, the early identification of subjects at risk remains inadequate due to the absence of clear anamnestic and clinical criteria. Defining physical fitness. For the same reason, the monitoring of subjects following lifestyle interventions remains suboptimal. The aim of this study is to develop a simple field tool to non-invasively assess global physical fitness in overweight patients participating to a physical activity program. Male and female overweight subjects referred to a physical activity intervention by their primary care physician will be included. Within this program, they will take part to 2 weekly supervised activity sessions during which participants will be instructed by a specialist in adapted physical activity, and 2-3 weekly session of unsupervised physical activity which will be performed according to detailed instructions regarding intensity and duration. In addition, participants will take part to teaching sessions in group of 4-6 patients, addressing the effects of physical activity on metabolism, contra-indications to physical activity, self-monitoring of exercise, and prevention of injuries Their physical fitness will be assessed at inclusion (ie before starting the exercise program) and at the end of the 3-month program. This will be done by calculating a Global Fitness Score (GFS) based on performances attained and cardiovascular responses observed during physical exercises (3 min step test with measurement of heart rate and blood pressure, number of time subject can stand from a chair within 1 min., handgrip strength measure, "reach-test" to assess osteo-articular mobility of back and hips, balance test). Results obtained from this GFS will be compared to maximal power output calculated from a submaximal spirometry at 25, 50, 75 and 100 W M.
The purpose of the study is to compare first attempt success rates and time until intubation to establish the learning curves of the participating anaesthesiologists with two different intubation strategies: (Karl Storz C-MAC VS (Video Stylet) and the standard flexible intubation video endoscope at the study site.
This is a prospective and randomized trial to compare two different techniques used in normal practice for the reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament in arthroscopy. The experimental group (group 1) will undergo a reconstruction technique where semitendinosus and gracilis will preserve their insertion at the level of the hamstring whereas in the control group (group 2) the semitendinosus and gracilis tendons will be disengaged from their insertion on the hamstring .
This study evaluates physical properties of a innovative leg compression stocking compared to a standard compression stocking of the same compression strength in patients with chronic venous insufficiency clinical stadium C3 and above, according to the CEAP classification for chronic venous insufficiency. The physical properties can be measured through a series of measurements. The hypothesis is that the innovative compression stocking, although changed in design to be more easily donned, will perform as good as the standard compression stocking. In each participant the examinations will be conducted with both stockings. A computer generated list will allocate each participant to either one of the stockings, with which the examinations will be conducted first.
This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of olaparib (MK-7339) monotherapy in participants with multiple types of advanced cancer (unresectable and/or metastatic) that: 1) have progressed or been intolerant to standard of care therapy; and 2) are positive for homologous recombination repair mutation (HRRm) or homologous recombination deficiency (HRD).
Trial investigates the benefits and harms of Levodopa /Carbidopa 100/25mg compared to placebo (given in addition to standardized rehabilitation based on the principles of motor learning) and whether there is an association with a patient-relevant enhancement of functional recovery in acute stroke patients. Study participants will be randomized 1:1.
