There are about 9403 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Switzerland. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The aim of this study is the comparison of two measurement protocols determining hemoglobin mass with two different blood sampling strategies. Both protocols are based on the principle of the carbonmonoxid (CO) rebreathing method. During this measurement, CO is inhaled for a specific time period by the subject in a closed circuit and it is used as a marker to tag circulating hemoglobin.
This qualitative study with quantitative elements examines the health care provided to women who suffered from mental disorder during pregnancy and / or in the first year after birth (i.e. during the perinatal phase). Investigators will perform individual interviews with former PMD patients, and health and social care professionals to gain insights into current health care for PMD patients.
The registry aims to follow clinically all consecutive patients treated by percutaneous coronary interventions at hospital & university Fribourg.
Prospective data will be collected in approximately 420 patients, above the age of 65, suffering from an FFP type fracture equal to or higher than type II, according to Rommens and Hofmann. Patients will be followed up according to the standard (routine) for up to 1 year after the treatment. Data collection will include underlying disease, treatment details, functional and patient reported outcomes (PRO)s, radiological outcomes, and anticipated or procedure-related adverse events (i.e. complications).
This study evaluates the benefits and harms of goal directed fluid removal with furosemide versus placebo in critical ill adult patients with fluid overload in the intensive care unit. Half of the patients will receive furosemide and the other half placebo. The treatment will continue until the excess fluid is excreted.
This is a Phase 2/3 study that comprises 5 substudies designed to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of oral etrasimod as therapy in adult participants with moderately to severely active Crohn's disease (CD) who are refractory or intolerant to at least 1 of the current therapies for CD (ie, corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, or biologics). The overall duration of this study is up to 282 weeks, inclusive of the Screening Period, Treatment Period of up to 274 weeks (Induction, Extension or Maintenance, and Long-term Extension Periods), and the 4-Week Follow-Up Period for safety assessment.
Hypervirulent and multidrug-resistant infections are associated with significant health care costs, substantial morbidity and mortality. Therefore, the rapid recognition of outbreaks and transmissions with hypervirulent and multi-drug resistant pathogen is a key priority for infection control and public health. The main goal is to implement a shared database, connecting human and veterinary microbiology laboratories, which would allow near real-time molecular epidemiology with high spatiotemporal resolution of bacterial pathogens such as transmission and outbreak surveillance between different compartments including humans, animals and the environment in Switzerland. Investigator aims to analyze already collected encoded retrospective datasets of various pathogens by combining epidemiological data and whole genome sequences from pathogens.
This is an open-label, non-comparator, global, multi-center, long-term safety study for evaluating safety and tolerability of linerixibat in participants with cholestatic pruritus in primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) who participated in a prior clinical trial with linerixibat (BAT117123 [NCT01899703], 201000 GLIMMER [NCT02966834] (group 1) or 212620 GLISTEN [NCT00210418]) (group 2). All participants will receive open-label linerixibat for the duration of the study. The study duration is expected to last until the study's end or until linerixibat can be lawfully made available to participants. However, the total duration of study participation will vary by participant depending upon the time of entry relative to study end in their respective country.
A prospective controlled single centre study designed to determine the association between the exposure to anesthetic agents and the pre and postoperative changes in plasma Neurofilament Light levels, biomarkers of neurological injury, in patients with similar surgical intervention but different anesthetic techniques. Secondary endpoints: Association between the changes in plasma Neurofilament Light levels and the development of post-operative neurocognitive disorders as acute delirium.
The primary objective of the preSponge randomized controlled trial (RCT) will be to assess the potential protective effects of preemptive endoscopic negative pressure therapy (ENP) on postoperative morbidity in high-risk patients undergoing total minimally invasive transthoracic esophagectomy with gastric pull-up reconstruction and high intrathoracic anastomosis (thoracoscopic and laparoscopic Ivor Lewis esophagectomy).
