Specific Aim 1: To determine if the effect of cervical spinal manipulation on the pressure pain thresholds in a myofascial trigger point in the infraspinatus muscle can be enhanced and/or extended after a second cervical spine manipulation is given during a single subject visit. H1: There will be a statistically significant increase in pressure pain thresholds in the myofascial trigger point in the infraspinatus muscle after the second cervical spine manipulation, as compared to the first. Specific Aim 2: To determine if the effect of two cervical spinal manipulations on pressure pain thresholds in a myofascial trigger point in the infraspinatus muscle will be present at 48 hours follow-up. Data will be collected for descriptive purposes and hypothesis generation.
Female and male smokers will complete questionnaires and smoking behavior will be examined. After abstaining from smoking for approximately 18 hours, they will be randomized to a moderate intensity exercise groups or passive sitting group. Smoking satisfaction and smoking behavior will be assessed following treatment. The hypotheses detailed below are specific to the randomization of participants into the following 2 groups: 1. Moderate exercise (Experimental condition; MEG) 2. Passive sitting (Attention control condition; PSG) Hypothesis 1: A bout of moderate intensity exercise will be associated with decreased smoking satisfaction after a temporary period of abstinence compared to a control condition. Hypothesis 2: Smoking topographic measures will mediate the relationship between a bout of moderate intensity exercise and smoking satisfaction.
This trial studies the natural history of brain function, quality of life, and seizure control in patients with brain tumor who have undergone surgery. Learning about brain function, quality of life, and seizure control in patients with brain tumor who have undergone surgery may help doctors learn more about the disease and find better methods of treatment and on-going care.
This is a randomized, open label intra-patient dose escalation study to evaluate safety and tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of BPS804 in adults with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI). Pharmacodynamic effect will be determined by serological biomarkers and radiologic assessments. In addition, tolerability and pharmacokinetics (PK) will be evaluated.
Traditional cardiac surgery requires patient connection to the Cardiopulmonary Bypass (CPB) apparatus which takes over the function of the heart and lungs while the surgeon performs the necessary surgery. The residual blood left in the CPB equipment (1.5-2.0 L) is centrifuged and washed leaving only red blood cells (RBCs) suspended in a saline solution. The RBCs are reinfused into the patient as needed by the anesthesiologist. The main problem with this technique is that many of the important components of the blood such as plasma proteins and clotting factors are discarded through cell washing. This study will explore a novel method (multiple-pass hemofiltration) of processing the residual pump blood which will allow the patient to receive their own whole blood with minimum waste of important components. The newer method of processing the residual pump volume has also been termed off-line modified ultrafiltration (off-line MUF) and is similar to the process that the kidneys use to filter the blood. It is hypothesized that multiple-pass hemofiltration of the residual CPB volume will reduce the occurrence of inflammatory responses, preserve plasma proteins, and decrease allogenic blood exposure and improve clinical outcomes as compared to centrifugation.
The overall purpose of this study is to develop and pilot-test a theory-based psychosocial supportive "finding balance" intervention for older, bereaved spousal caregivers of a palliative cancer patient.

This study is being done to look at how well people respond to two different drug treatments for depression. Clinically, people can respond differently to different treatments for reasons which are not always clear. Some research shows that people with a family history of bipolar disorder or completed suicide may react differently to standard medications used to treat depression than those without a family history. The investigators need to know if these drugs are effective to use in patients with depression who have a family history of bipolar disorder or completed suicide.
Immunotherapy is a novel way to treat cancer and does so by targeting the immune system to destroy tumor cells. Many different therapeutic vaccines have been evaluated in phase 1, 2, and even phase 3 trials. Much has been learned about the principles of applying immune-based therapies and specifically the types of patients that may be most likely to mount an effective immune response. When used alone, cancer vaccines may have their greatest impact earlier in the disease course or in situations with minimal residual disease. ImmunoVaccine Technologies Inc. (Immunovaccine) is an immuno-oncology company developing a novel adjuvanting technology platform termed DepoVax. DepoVax was created to enhance the speed, strength and duration of an immune response. The peptide antigens included in DPX-Survivac are designed to target Survivin, a protein which is over-expressed in many cancer types, including epithelial ovarian cancers. This study was designed be a phase 1-2 trial to determine the safety and immunogenicity profiles of DPX-Survivac, a therapeutic vaccine co-administered with a regimen of low dose oral cyclophosphamide. The dosing-finding phase 1 study of 15 subjects would move directly into a randomized phase 2 study. However, with the evolving field of immunotherapy Immunovaccine has begun to focus on combination therapies, combining DPX-Survivac treatment with checkpoint inhibitors and other immune modulators, such as in NCT02785250.
The objective of this study is to compare the efficacy, safety and tolerability of two bowel preparations for colonoscopy - split dose Polyethylene Glycol-Based Lavage and Pico-Salax plus Bisacodyl - with a specific emphasis on the right colon cleanliness. The primary outcomes will be 1) quality of preparation in cleansing the colon, 2) quality of preparation in cleansing the right colon, 3) patient satisfaction. The secondary outcomes will be 1) duration of bowel preparation, 2) patient discomfort during bowel preparation.
