There are about 28871 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Canada. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The SCAR study uses a software program entitled QLAB, a proprietory program, developed by Philips Healthcare (Philips Healthcare, Andover, MA). Literature on two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (2DSTE) is growing, but data relevant to the population in the SCAR study is minimal. Accumulation of data relevant for a population of subjects will provide a set of normal values for interpretation of 2DSTE and minimize any influences from differences in data produced from different companies. This data may also assist other researchers investigate other cardiac diseases and abnormalities.
This is a multicentric randomized phase III trial comparing adjuvant chemotherapy with gemcitabine versus 5-fluorouracil, leucovorin, irinotecan and oxaliplatin (mFolfirinox) in patients with resected pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
In this study, patients with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis who are being treated with methotrexate will receive 2 intravenous treatments with either PF-05280586 or Rituxan (Rituximab) or MabThera (Rituximab). During the course of the study, the effects of the drugs will be assessed by sampling the levels of drug in the blood, blood cell counts, and by comparing these levels among the different treatments. Safety, tolerability and immunologic response also will be evaluated throughout.
Hypothesis: That, in men on surveillance for favorable risk prostate cancer treated with dutasteride, prostate specific antigen (PSA) kinetics is of value in identifying those men who harbor occult high grade prostate cancer. The study will determine the prevalence of a secondary rise in PSA > 0.5 ng/ml and the PSA doubling time in subjects on surveillance being treated with dutasteride.
The primary purpose of this study is to determine whether the hepatitis C virus continues to remain unable to be detected in subjects who were previously treated with BMS-914143 and achieved sustained virologic response
To evaluate the drug-drug interactions between BI 201335 and BI 207127 as well as their combined effect on CYP probe drug substrates and on tenofovir and raltegravir in treatment naive or prior treatment relapse patients with chronic hepatitis C infection.
The primary objective of this study is to compare the effects of orally inhaled tiotropium + olodaterol fixed dose combination (2.5/5 µg; 5/5 µg) with placebo on exercise tolerance after 12 weeks of treatment in patients with COPD.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of Positron emission tomography, Computed Tomography perfusion and 3 Tesla MRI in the radiological down-staging of rectal cancer following neoadjuvant chemoradiation. The restaging result obtained by these imaging studies will be compared to standard imaging studies and the histopathology of the surgical specimen. We hypothesize that these 3 imaging modalities will detect lymph node metastases pretreatment better than standard pretreatment scans and will better determine the degree of response of the primary rectal tumor to preoperative chemoradiation.
The purpose of this study is to compare the antitumor activity of everolimus plus best supportive care versus placebo plus best supportive care in patients with progressive nonfunctional neuroendocrine tumor (NET) of gastrointestinal (GI) or lung origin without a history of, or current symptoms of carcinoid syndrome.
Dexamethasone is a synthetic corticosteroid that has been proven to be effective and relatively safe for the prophylaxis of the postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). However, little is known about its effect on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis after surgery. The investigators hypothesize that it will inhibit the normal physiologic HPA surge and reduce cortisol levels post-operatively ia a dose-dependant fashion. To answer this question, the investigators will conduct a randomized, double-blinded placebo-controlled trial with two different doses of dexamethasone in women undergoing elective gynecologic laparotomy.
