There are about 28871 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Canada. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
A single-arm, open-label, multicenter, phase II study. Treatment with LDK378 750 mg qd will continue until the patient experiences unacceptable toxicity that precludes further treatment, discontinues treatment at the discretion of the investigator or patient, starts a new anti-cancer therapy and/or dies. LDK378 may be continued beyond RECIST-defined PD as assessed by the investigator if, in the judgment of the investigator, there is evidence of clinical benefit. In these patients tumor assessment should continue as per the schedule of assessments until treatment with LDK378 is permanently discontinued. Patients who discontinue the study medication in the absence of progression will continue to be followed for tumor assessment until the time of PD as assessed by the investigator
The purpose of this study is to determine whether Tcelna (imilecleucel-T, autologous T-Cell Immunotherapy) is effective in the treatment of secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS).
The purpose of this study is to find out whether rivaroxaban is safe to use in children and how long it stays in the body. There will also be a check for bleeding and worsening of blood clots.
Normally, nerve fibers carry electrical impulses through the spinal cord, providing communication between the brain and the arms and legs. In people with spinal cord injury, some fibers may be destroyed at the site of injury, while others remain connected but do not work correctly to carry electrical impulses. As a result, subjects with an incomplete spinal cord injury may have spasticity which is muscle spasms or muscle stiffness that makes movement difficult. Fampridine-SR is an experimental drug that increases the ability of the nerve to conduct electrical impulses. This study will examine the effects of Fampridine-SR on moderate to severe lower-limb spasticity, as well as the effects on bodily functions such as bladder control, bowel function and sexual function. The study will also examine the possible risks of taking Fampridine-SR.
This study compares the epidemiology and clinical outcomes of laboratory confirmed influenza type A to type B following clinical diagnosis of influenza. Multivariate models are used to assess the effects of influenza type on clinical outcomes while accounting for potential confounders.
Primary Objective: - To compare the efficacy of a new formulation of insulin glargine and Lantus (overall, regardless the injection time) in terms of change of HbA1c from baseline to endpoint (scheduled Month 6) in participants with type 1 diabetes mellitus Secondary Objective: - To compare HOE901-U300 and Lantus when given in the morning or in the evening in terms of: - Change of HbA1c from baseline to endpoint (scheduled Month 6) - Change from baseline to endpoint (Month 6) in fasting plasma glucose (FPG), plasma glucose prior to injection of study drug, plasma glucose at 03:00 hours, mean plasma glucose (8-point profiles), glucose variability, treatment satisfaction and health related quality of life in participants with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) - Reaching target HbA1c values and controlled plasma glucose (all and reaching target without hypoglycemia) - Frequency of occurrence and diurnal distribution of hypoglycemia by category of hypoglycemia (symptomatic, asymptomatic, nocturnal, severe, probable and relative) - Safety and tolerability of HOE901-U300 including development of anti-insulin antibody (AIAs) during the 12-month study period
The investigative team's purpose for conducting this research is to improve effective and efficient translation and implementation of evidence based advanced life support practice to providers of care for children. This specific project aims to accomplish 2 major goals. The investigators aim to evaluate the utility of a debriefing script specifically designed to facilitate debriefing when used by novice Pediatric Advanced Life Support instructors during low and high realism simulation-based learning. Secondly, the investigators hope to evaluate the effectiveness of high realism simulation vs. low realism simulation in achieving PALS-based educational outcomes, such as knowledge and skill acquisition. The investigators hypothesize that SCRIPTED debriefing by novice instructors following low and high fidelity simulation-based learning will : 1. Improve the cognitive performance and knowledge of multidisciplinary team members as assessed by a cognitive performance tool and multiple choice testing compared with more traditional, NON-SCRIPTED debriefing; 2. Improve the behavioural, teamwork and communication skills of multidisciplinary team members as assessed by a validated assessment tool compared with more traditional, NON-SCRIPTED debriefing; The investigators hypothesize that HIGH REALISM simulation-based learning will: 1. Improve the cognitive performance and knowledge of multidisciplinary team members as assessed by a cognitive performance tool and multiple choice testing compared with more traditional, LOW REALISM simulation; 2. Improve the behavioural, teamwork and communication skills of multidisciplinary team members as assessed by a validated assessment tool compared with more traditional, LOW REALISM simulation;
Research indicates that many people who are being treated for glaucoma have dry eyes. The purpose of this study is to test the use of artificial tears to alleviate dryness signs and symptoms in people who are using medication to treat glaucoma. The study hypothesis is that the use of artificial tears will result in an improvement in clinical signs and symptoms associated with dry eyes.
This was a two-arm, randomized, double-blind Phase III study of dabrafenib in combination with trametinib versus two placebos in the adjuvant treatment of melanoma after surgical resection. Patients with completely resected, histologically confirmed, BRAF V600E/K mutation-positive, high-risk [Stage IIIa (lymph node metastasis >1 mm), IIIb or IIIc] cutaneous melanoma were screened for eligibility. Subjects were randomized to receive either dabrafenib (150 milligram (mg) twice daily [BID]) and trametinib (2 mg once daily [QD]) combination therapy or two placebos for 12 months.
Research on physical activity and nutrition interventions aimed at positively impacting symptom management, treatment-related recovery and quality of life has largely excluded head and neck cancer populations. This translates into a lack of clinical programming available for these patient populations. Head and neck cancer patients deal with severe weight loss, with upwards of 70% attributed to lean muscle wasting, leading to extended recovery times, decreased quality of life (QoL), and impaired physical functioning. To date, interventions to address body composition issues have focused solely on diet, despite findings that nutritional therapy alone is insufficient to mitigate changes. A combined physical activity and nutrition intervention, that also incorporates important educational components known to positively impact behaviour change, is warranted for this population. Pilot work suggests that there is large patient demand and clinic support from the health care professionals for a comprehensive program. Therefore, the purpose of the present study is to examine the impact of timing of a 12-week PA and nutrition intervention (either during or following treatment) for HN cancer patients on body composition, recovery, serum inflammatory markers and quality of life. In addition, the investigators will examine the impact of a 12-week maintenance program, delivered immediately following the intervention, on adherence, patient-reported outcomes (i.e., management of both physical and psychosocial treatment-related symptoms and side-effects), as well as return to work. The investigators hypothesize that (1) patients who are randomized to the intervention at treatment start will experience improved symptom management and decreased lean body composition changes, directly improving recovery and QoL; (2) patients who receive a maintenance support program will have better long-term adherence and therefore superior treatment-related symptom management, physical and psychosocial functioning; and (3) return to work indices will improve and healthcare utilization costs will be lower in the participants who receive the immediate intervention (vs. delayed) as well as in those who receive the maintenance program (vs. no maintenance). This research will facilitate advancements in patient wellness, survivorship, and autonomy, and carve the path for a physical activity and wellness education model that can be implemented in other cancer centers.
