NCT ID: NCT04401748 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS)

Study Of Venetoclax Tablet With Intravenous or Subcutaneous Azacitidine to Assess Change in Disease Activity In Adult Participants With Newly Diagnosed Higher-Risk Myelodysplastic Syndrome

Verona
Start date: September 10, 2020
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) is a group of disorders that gradually affect the ability of a person's bone marrow (semi-liquid tissue present in many bones like backbones) to produce normal blood cells. Some people with MDS have a risk of the disease progressing to acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and a risk of death from the disease itself. Symptoms of MDS include fatigue, shortness of breath, unusual paleness due to anemia (low red blood cell count), easy or unusual bruising, and red spots just beneath the skin caused by bleeding. The purpose of this study is to see how safe and effective venetoclax and azacitidine (AZA) combination are when compared to AZA and a placebo (contains no medicine), in participants with newly diagnosed higher-risk MDS. Venetoclax is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of MDS. The study consists of two treatment arms - In one arm, participants will receive venetoclax and AZA. In another arm, participants will receive AZA and placebo. Adult participants with newly diagnosed higher-risk MDS will be enrolled. Around 500 participants will be enrolled in approximately 220 sites worldwide. Participants in one arm will receive oral doses of venetoclax tablet and intravenous (infusion in the vein) or subcutaneous (given under the skin) AZA solution. Participants in another arm will receive oral doses of placebo tablet and intravenous or subcutaneous AZA solution. There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits during the course of the study at a hospital or clinic. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, blood and bone marrow tests, checking for side effects, and completing questionnaires.

NCT ID: NCT04395469 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Locally Advanced Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma

FAZA PET/MRI Pancreas

Start date: May 18, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a single arm, single centre, investigator initiated study to investigate the use of FAZA-PET in combination with MRI. FAZA is an investigational radiotracer used in PET scans. FAZA PET-MRI will be used to measure hypoxia in up to 20 patients with unresectable, non-metastatic, locally advanced un-resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma (LAPAC). After each FAZA PET-MRI scan, patients will be followed up via telephone, 48 hours after the imaging session to assure that the procedure was tolerated without side effects. Patients will undergo a FAZA PET-MRI scans before and after their standard of care radiation treatment.

NCT ID: NCT04393649 Active, not recruiting - Anxiety Clinical Trials

First Level Socio-geriatric Evaluation: ESOGER Databank

Start date: April 20, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease. Physical distancing is one of the most effective ways to reduce the spread of COVID-19, but this key prevention intervention may have adverse consequences on older adults living at home. Screening older adults living at home and at risk for adverse consequences of physical and social distancing is, therefore, a priority in order to prevent their occurrence. ESOGER ("Evaluation Social et GERiatrique") is a clinical tool designed to: 1) screen the risk-levels for adverse consequences related to COVID-19 physical distancing and 2) to continue appropriate preventive interventions in older adults living at home including frail older patients and older community dwellers. Experience cumulated during the past two weeks revealed that ESOGER could be improved, in order to be more effective and efficient for the prevention of adverse consequences related to COVID-19 physical distancing. This improvement is based on two key components: 1) Comments of Montreal ESOGER users and 2) Analysis of data. Because at this time no information is saved and stored, there is a need to save and store ESOGER information and create the ESOGER databank.

NCT ID: NCT04392999 Active, not recruiting - Cervical Pain Clinical Trials

Intra-articular Corticosteroid Injections to Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for Cervical Facetogenic Pain

PRICE
Start date: February 1, 2021
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Chronic neck pain, either after trauma (e.g. whiplash injury) or due to arthritis, is a significant issue for many Canadians. Steroid injections into the small joints of the neck can provide temporary pain relief, but patients require repeat injections every few months. The investigator will assess whether a different type of injection (platelet-rich plasma, PRP) can provide enhanced and longer-lasting pain relief compared to steroid. PRP is made from the patient's own blood but contains higher levels of components that promote healing. Patients with neck pain will receive either an injection of steroid or PRP into the small joints of the neck, but they won't know which one they are getting. After the injection they will be contacted to answer questions about their pain and function, up to 12 months after injection. The goal of this study is to determine if PRP is a viable alternative to current treatments to help reduce chronic neck pain and improve function after a whiplash injury. PRP may be a more permanent treatment for chronic neck pain which could reduce the need for repeated injections, thus reducing health care costs and wait times.
