There are about 10004 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Brazil. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The color change of endodontically treated teeth is a common concern in clinical practice. The objective of this study will be to evaluate, in vivo, the color change (ΔE00) caused by endodontic treatment. A observational retrospective study will be conducted to evaluate the ΔE00 of anterior (incisors and canines) and posterior (premolar) teeth treated at a private clinic, regardless of technique, treatment time and sealer used. In this study the ΔE00 will be evaluated using the measurements obtained in the homologous tooth (without endodontic treatment) versus the measurement obtained from the tooth treated endodontically. The values of ΔE00 obtained for each sealer, cut and time will be analyzed by multifactorial analysis to verify associations of the outcomes with the ΔE00.
BACKGROUND: In several bone disorders, adequate calcium intake is a coadjuvant intervention to regular treatment. Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a collagen disorder with a range of symptoms, ranging from fractures to minimum trauma, and is typically treated with bisphosphonates. This study aims evaluate the impact of a nutritional intervention (NI) on dietary calcium intake, bone mineral density (BMD)in pediatric patients with OI. METHODS: Interventional cohort study was designed with a NI. Dietary calcium intake, anthropometry and clinical feature was assessed at baseline including anthropometry, basal metabolic rate (BMR), BMD, Food guidance form was developed and sent to patients by mail. After 12 months, patients' clinical features were reassessed and compared with baseline data. RESULTS: Fifty-two children and adolescents were enrolled. A significant increase in total calcium intake (g), the percentage of adequate calcium intake (%), number of cups of milk ingested, were observed after NI. Was detected a positive correlation between the variation of BMD and milk consumption in patients treated with bisphosphonate. CONCLUSION: Was observed an increase in calcium intake in patients with OI. This finding demonstrates the importance of nutrition therapy as part of a multidisciplinary treatment approach for bone health.
The purpose of the study is to prevent the early introduction of added sugar and ultra-processed foods and evaluate the impact on breastfeeding duration, complementary feeding quality, growth and prevalence of caries during the first year of life.
This study will assess the safety and efficacy of cefepime/VNRX-5133 compared with meropenem in both eradication of bacteria and in symptomatic response in patients with cUTIs.
The pulp therapy in primary teeth is still necessary even with all odontopediatrics evolution in prevention and minimal intervention, aiming to keep the tooth free of inflammation or infection and in a functional state until its exfoliation. Several materials are used as filling paste of primary teeth. In Brazil, the Guedes-Pinto Paste (PGP), an association of iodofórmio, camphorated paramonochlorophenol, prednisolone and rifamycin, has been widely used for some decades. However, current Brazilian legislation has made it difficult to commercialize antibiotics, which has made it difficult to obtain the ointment that is the association between prednisolone and rifamycin. Therefore, the objective of this clinical trial will be to test PGP without rifamycin in the pulpectomy of primary teeth, and to compare it with the treatment performed with conventional PGP.
In the last few decades, the world has seen a significant increase in the occurrence of occupational diseases related to Burnout Syndrome (professional exhaustion) and stress in educators. These disorders affect mental health and teaching activity. In this way, they need to develop socio-emotional skills to cope with the psychosocial stressors related to the school environment. Currently, mindfulness-based therapies have been recommended to help educators acquire emotional self-control, and to improve self-esteem, metacognition, attention, resilience and affectivity, in addition to better the social skills needed in the school milieu. The main objective of the proposed research project is to elaborate a program of Mindfulness-Based Health Promotion - educators (MBHP - educa) to be applied to a population of Brazilian public school educators. The efficacy of the program will be evaluated by cognitive testing. Blood tests for the above-mentioned stress-related molecules will be performed. The goal of developing the MBHP - educa Program is to promote and ameliorate the health care of public school teachers. Developing such a research proposal will contribute to debate and implement public health policies focussed on promoting the health of public school teachers in Brazil.
RELANCE is a large multi-institutional study that aims to retrospectively collect information about diagnostic, treatment and outcome of patients diagnosed with locally advanced NSCLC in Brazil. It is hypothesized that there is a great heterogeneity in treatment patterns owing to inequities in access to adequate staging methods, optimal treatment and multidisciplinary teams in Brazil.
The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of the combination of the polyadenosine 5'-diphosphoribose poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor olaparib and pembrolizumab in the treatment of participants with mCRPC who have failed to respond to either abiraterone acetate or enzalutamide (but not both) and to chemotherapy. The primary study hypotheses are that the combination of pembrolizumab plus olaparib is superior to abiraterone acetate or enzalutamide with respect to: 1. Overall Survival (OS) and 2. Radiographic progression-free survival (rPFS) per Prostate Cancer Working Group (PCWG)-modified Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors Version 1.1 as assessed by blinded independent central review (BICR) As of Amendment 06, the Data Monitoring Committee (DMC) is no longer applicable. Participants still on treatment may have the option to continue receiving study intervention or SOC if they are deriving clinical benefit, until criteria for discontinuation are met. Participants who are still on study treatment and deriving clinical benefit will no longer have tumor response assessments by BICR. However, local tumor imaging assessments should continue per SOC schedule. In addition, ePRO assessments will no longer be performed and biomarker samples will no longer be collected.
The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of the combination of pembrolizumab (MK-3475) and docetaxel in the treatment of men with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) who have not received chemotherapy for mCRPC but have progressed on or are intolerant to Next Generation Hormonal Agent (NHA). There are two primary study hypotheses. Hypothesis 1: The combination of pembrolizumab plus docetaxel plus prednisone is superior to placebo plus docetaxel plus prednisone with respect to Overall Survival (OS). Hypothesis 2: The combination of pembrolizumab plus docetaxel plus prednisone is superior to placebo plus docetaxel plus prednisone with respect to Radiographic Progression-free Survival (rPFS) per Prostate Cancer Working Group (PCWG)-modified Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors Version 1.1 (RECIST 1.1) as assessed by blinded independent central review.
Breast Cancer treatment may cause several side effects, some long lasting. Adjuvant hormone therapy helps avoiding recurrence triggers vulvovaginal atrophy syndrome. This study evaluate a photodynamic treatment with light emitting diode to improve vaginal dryness and irritation, pruritus, pain or discomfort in intercourse.
