There are about 10004 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Brazil. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of early intervention (placement into foster care, and a caregiving training) on physical, cognitive, social and brain development and psychiatric symptomatology in children place in out-of-home care.
The preparation of ICU Diary, conducted by the Hospital care team towards the patient, has been suggested as an effective and low-cost strategy to enhance the patient's experience in the intensive care unit, as well as to prevent anxiety, depression and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). New-found researches in Brazilian ICUs indicates the pervasiveness of these symptoms in patients who have been hospitalized in the unit, however, there are no randomized trials that evaluate the impact of Diaries in the Brazilian context. The aim is to explore the effects of providing an ICU Diary in the symptoms of anxiety, depression and PTSD within patients who were hospitalized in the unit. Refers to a randomized controlled trial that is being conducted in two ICUs in a general-purpose hospital in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
In this randomized double-blinded clinical trial, 400mg of hydroxychloroquine will be given daily to people over the age of 65 years with moderate-severe obstructive sleep apnea for 8 weeks. The aim of this study is to test whether hydroxychloroquine can improve endothelial function.
The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy of pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) on urinary incontinence reports in obese women undergoing a low calorie diet prior to bariatric surgery for obesity. The study will also assess and compare rates of adherence to treatments, pelvic floor muscle function and women´s self perception of their PFM function, and satisfaction with treatment.
Complementary medicine, considered an unconventional approach, is performed in conjunction with conventional medicine. In Brazil, Integrative and Complementary Practices in Health have been inserted by the National Ordinance of Integrative and Complementary Practices. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of laying on of hands with spiritual connection by the Spiritist Passe about mental and physical health and quality of life of individuals.
Statins (HMG-CoA) are widely used in treating patients with hypercholesterolemia. They have also been studied because of their anabolic effects on bone tissue. Statins increase the expression of Bone Morphogenetic Proteins-2 (BMP-2) and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), which are of important scientific interest in bone regeneration therapy. However, they are expensive and have a short half-life. Therefore, a molecule promoting the endogenous production of BMP-2 and VEGF would be valuable for the field of bone tissue engineering. This study aims to evaluate dimensional changes, level of soft tissue healing, pain/discomfort, and newly formed tissues in post-extraction sockets filling with Simvastatin (SIM) gel covered with polypropylene membranes. Thirty post-extraction sockets of posterior teeth will be randomized allocated in two groups: 1) extractions and socket filling with 1.2% SIM gel and membrane and 2) extraction and socket filling with placebo gel and membrane. The evaluation will be done through clinical analyzes, histomorphometry and micro-computed tomographic images, considering the dimensional changes, the quantity and the quality of tissue formation after extractions. Measurements will be taken before extraction (T1) and 90 days after the extraction (T2). In addition, the perception of pain will be analyzed. The hypothesis is that SIM associated with polypropylene membrane can enhance bone formation in post-extraction sockets compared with the control group.
Post-dural puncture headache leads to high morbidity and cost to the health system. Pregnant women have a higher incidence than other population groups. There are several treatments for post dural puncture headache mentioned in the literature, not all well established, with a wide heterogeneity of treatment between services. Sphenopalatine block then appears as an alternative treatment, having been described as effective in reports and case series, requiring comparative experimental studies.
Shoulder pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints in orthopedic practice. Rotator cuff injuries account for up to 70% of pain in the shoulder girdle. There is no clinical study carried out in Brazil comparing cost effectiveness between the open and arthroscopic methods of rotator cuff repair surgery. The present study aims to determine which method of repair of the rotator cuff, open or arthroscopic, has the best cost effectiveness ratio. A randomized clinical trial will be carried out in which patients with symptomatic rotator cuff lesion will be submitted to repair surgery by either open or arthroscopic technique and will be subsequently evaluated.
In this observational study researcher want to learn more about the effectiveness of drug VITRAKVI (generic name: larotrectinib) and how well the drug is tolerated during routine use in patients with TRK fusion cancer which is locally advanced or spread from the place where it started to other places in the body. TRK fusion cancer is a term used to describe a variety of common and rare cancers that are caused by a change to the NTRK (Neurotrophic Tyrosine Kinase) gene called a fusion. During this fusion, an NTRK gene joins together, or fuses, with a different gene. This joining results in the activation of certain proteins (TRK fusion proteins), which can cause cancer cells to multiply and form a tumor. VITRAKVI is an approved drug that blocks the action of the NTRK gene fusion. This study will enroll adult and paediatric patients suffering from a solid tumor with NTRK gene fusion for whom the decision to treat their disease with VITRAKVI has been made by their treating physicians. During the study, patients' medical information such as treatment information with VITRAKVI, other medication or treatments, changes in disease status and other health signs and symptoms will be collected within the normal medical care by the treating doctor. Participants will be observed over a period from 24 to 60 months.
This is a first-in-human, open-label, multicenter, Phase I multiple-ascending dose (MAD) study of RO7247669, an anti PD-1 (programmed death-1) and LAG-3 (Lymphocyte-activation gene 3) bispecific antibody, for participants with advanced and/or metastatic solid tumors. This study aims to establish the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) and/or define the recommended phase 2 dose (RP2D) based on the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetic (PK) and/or pharmacodynamic (PD) profile of RO7247669, and to evaluate preliminary anti-tumor activity in participants with solid tumors. An expansion part of the study is planned to enroll tumor-specific cohorts to evaluate anti-tumor activity of the MTD and/or RP2D of RO7247669 and to confirm safety and tolerability in participants with selected tumor types.
