There are about 10004 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Brazil. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) has a direct association with endothelial dysfunction and major cardiovascular events. Evidence points to possible benefits of aerobic training in the endothelial function analyzed by the flow mediated dilation technique (flow mediated dilatation - FMD) in individuals with SAH. However, little is known about the influence of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) on the results of brachial artery FMD after different types of acute exercise in individuals with SAH. Thus, the objective of the research is to analyze the influence of the ANS on the FMD of the brachial artery of individuals with SAH after a session of aerobic (EA), resistance (ER) and combined (EC) exercise. For this, thirty-nine hypertensive individuals aged 35 to 55 years will be recruited and will be randomized to 2 sessions of AS, ER or EC. Also, within each modality, they will be randomized to α1-adrenergic block (Doxazosin 0.05 mg / kg-1) or placebo. The FMD will be performed by ultrasound 10 minutes before, as well as 10, 40 and 70 minutes after the exercise sessions and the autonomic control will be monitored (Finometer) for 10 minutes before each FMD. Arterial stiffness will also be analyzed, using the pulse wave velocity (PWV) by the Complior Analyzer. It is expected to demonstrate with this research the influence of the ANS on the FMD of the brachial artery in individuals with SAH in different physical exercises. This knowledge contributes to a better training prescription in this population.
Despite numerous advances in medical treatment and revascularization procedures for the treatment of patients with stable angina, debilitating symptoms that are unresponsive to conventional therapy may occur in patients unsuitable for revascularization, a condition known as refractory angina. Allopurinol, a methylxanthine oxidase inhibitor, is widely used in the treatment of gout and asymptomatic hyperuricemia. On the other hand, the anti-ischemic effects of allopurinol have been the subject of increasing interest. Therefore, the investigators will study the safety and efficacy of allopurinol in alleviating ischemic symptoms in patients with refractory angina already on optimal medical therapy.
The aim of this study was to compare an overnight digital monitoring device (ODM) with home sleep apnea testing (HSAT) using respiratory flow and effort parameters in a large population sample, who were in a waiting list for Polysomnography (PSG).
Suspension of Angiotensin Receptor Blockers and Angiotensin-converting Enzyme Inhibitors and Adverse Outcomes in Hospitalized Patients With Coronavirus Infection.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the stroke volume variation measured by both methods: transpulmonary thermodilution and electrical impedance tomography (EIT), during fluid responsiveness maneuvers and after fluid replacement in the immediate postoperative of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) patients. Patients will be hemodinamically monitored with the VolumeView set in combination with EV1000 clinical platform and the display of valuable volumetric parameters (Edwards Lifesciences, California, USA). Simultaneoulsy, patients will be monitored with Enlight Electrical Impedance Tomography (Timpel, São Paulo, Brazil). Hemodynamic data will be assessed at baseline 1, one minute after the passive leg raising maneuver, after PEEP increment, and after 500 mL of Lactated Ringer's (bolus infusion). Blood gases sample will be assessed before and immediatly after the protocol.
Phase-3, randomized, multicenter, parallel-group study with blind evaluation of endpoints and intention-to-treat analysis. The general purpose of the study is evaluate the non-inferiority hypothesis for ischemic events and the superiority hypothesis for bleeding events resulting from platelet P2Y12 receptor inhibitors given as monotherapy in comparison with conventional dual antiplatelet therapy in acute coronary syndrome patients treated with percutaneous coronary intervention in the context of the Unified Health System in Brazil.
The introduction of the laparoscopic technique for cholecystectomy significantly reduced the incidence and intensity of postoperative pain, with improvement in other markers, such as patient satisfaction, and reduction in hospital stay. However, pain in the postoperative period of laparoscopic cholecystectomy is still a concern that challenges modern anesthesiology. Ketamine and magnesium sulfate are two blockers of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors with the ability to reduce postoperative pain and postoperative opioid consumption. A frequent concern among anesthesiologists is the quality and time of awakening in patients receiving these medications The main objective of this trial is to compare the quality and time of awakening in patients receiving magnesium sulfate or ketamine. The secondary objective is to compare postoperative analgesia during the postoperative hospital stay. Hypothesis: Our hypothesis is that patients have a faster awakening when they receive magnesium sulfate as an analgesic adjunct, when compared to patients who receive ketamine . Design: this is a prospective, controlled, covered and randomly distributed trial.
The objective of this randomized controlled study will be to evaluate the dental and skeletal effects of maxillary protraction with a facemask, associated with MARPE and Class III elastics in patients with unilateral cleft lip and palate (CLP) with maxillary retrusion, compared to HYRAX type maxillary expanders. The investigators will examine differences in treatment times, along with skeletal, dental and soft tissue changes.
This is a Phase III, randomised, controlled, 3-arm, multi-centre study of neoadjuvant osimertinib as monotherapy or in combination with chemotherapy, versus SoC chemotherapy alone, for the treatment of patients with resectable EGFRm Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
The main objective of the study is to evaluate whether the association of the probiotic Lactobacillus helveticus to standard antidepressant will contribute to the treatment of major depression.
