Alzheimer's disease, stroke and TBI are frequently observed brain disorders, causing significant morbidity. For none of these disorders, there are in vivo diagnostic biomarkers available that allow determination of disease burden, patient-specific prognosis and therapy follow-up. However, they all share a similar mechanism that may cause accumulation of tau oligomers in the brain, synaptic dysfunction and cognitive and/or behavioral impairment. Until recently, the only way to quantify synaptic density and tau deposition was using post-mortem immunohistochemistry. Now, in vivo Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging of synaptic density has become possible trough development of 11C-UCB-J, a levetiracetam-based radioligand, expressing high affinity and specificity for SV2A. Furthermore, the novel radioligand 18F-MK-6240, specifically targeting tau deposits, was clinically implemented in our center. Through PET-MR, we can visualize the cascade of tau deposition, synaptic loss and degeneration of grey and white matter and relate these pathologic features to cognitive and behavioral deterioration. The goal of the study is to: 1) measure tau deposition and loss of synaptic density in these conditions as a potential measure for disease load 2) determination of the mid-term (2 years) monitoring capacity of combined functional-structural PET-MR imaging 3) relate progression of the imaging markers to cognitive and/or behavioral decline and 4) determination of the optimal combination of PET-MR metrics for early identification and risk-stratification of cognitive and/or behavioral dysfunction in de novo patients.
This study will assess the role of dopamine responses to food reward in Bulimia Nervosa patients, by performing simultaneous Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Magnetic Resonance (MR) scanning. The dopamine response will be measured before and after treatment, and will be compared to healthy controls.
This is an open label, long-term safety, tolerability, and efficacy study of GIVINOSTAT in all DMD (Duchenne's muscular dystrophy) patients who have been previously treated in one of the GIVINOSTAT studies.
The DERIVATE study was conceived to integrate the information resulted from clinical data, transthoracic echocardiography, and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging to provide a more reliable risk stratification in patients affected by heart failure (HF) and worthy of prophylactic implanted cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) therapy. The main purposes of this multicenter registry are to: 1) determine CMR findings, and specifically late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) features, T1 mapping, and extracellular volume (ECV) that predict sudden cardiac death (SCD) and ventricular arrhythmia; 2) provide a comprehensive clinical and imaging score that effectively improves the selection of patients who deserve a prophylactic ICD therapy; 3) evaluate the contribution of machine learning to predict major adverse cardiac events (MACE) as compared to standard clinical scores.
Colorectal cancer is the most common cancer in Europe and the third worldwide. Approximately 1 in 20 men and 1 in 35 women will develop colorectal cancer at some moment in their life. In Flanders, in 2014, there was an increase in the detection of colorectal cancer with 21% compared to 2013. Early detection improves the prognosis for the patient. In this early stage, colorectal surgery is one of the most important treatments, but it is also complex and has a high complication rate. However, over the last decade, surgical care for patients with colorectal cancer has become more standardized. The use of structured care methods, such as care pathways and protocols, has helped in standardizing care processes. Specifically for patients with colorectal cancer, perioperative care has shifted with the implementation of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) programs. The goal of ERAS- protocols is to optimize the interventions during the perioperative hospitalization period and reduce postoperative complications. Despite the increasing evidence in favor of the use of these standardized protocols, adherence and implementation in daily practice remains challenging. The primary goal of this quality improvement project is to enhance the standardization of key interventions in the ERAS care process for patients undergoing colorectal surgery. Therefore, adherence to the ERAS-guidelines will be investigated and hospitals will receive feedback to set up improvement initiatives. Moreover, interactive group sessions and on-site training activities will stimulate knowledge sharing and define best practices.
This study will provide continuing availability to tazemetostat for people that have previously completed participation in a tazemetostat study, either with monotherapy (single drug treatment) or combination therapy. The aim of the study will be to assess the long-term safety of tezemetostat.

The EuroSIDA study is a prospective observational cohort study of 23,000+ patients followed in 100+ clinics in 35 European countries, Israel and Argentina. The study is the largest pan-European cohort study and few studies of a comparable design are available on a global scale. The EuroSIDA study is an ongoing collaboration and patients have been enrolled into the study through 11 cohorts since 1994. The main objective of the study remains the same as in 1994: to prospectively study, clinical, therapeutic, demographic, virological and laboratory data from HIV-1 positive persons across Europe in order to determine their long-term virological, immunological and clinical outcomes. Historically, EuroSIDA has been crucial in reporting key changes in the HIV epidemic, such as the dramatic changes in morbidity and mortality when combination anti-retroviral therapy (cART) was first introduced. As new anti-HCV treatment is introduced to HIV/HCV co-infected patients, it is important for EuroSIDA to remain in the forefront of investigating the treatment benefits and adverse effects. In general terms, the objective of the EuroSIDA study is to continue a long-term, prospective collection of clinical, laboratory and therapeutic data as well as plasma on a large cohort of consecutive HIV infected patients from across Europe in order to (1) assess the factors associated with the clinical, immunological and virological course of HIV infection and HIV-related co-infections and co-morbidities, and (2) continue to provide and develop a surveillance system to describe temporal changes and regional differences in the clinical course of HIV and HIV-related co-infections and co-morbidities in Europe.
