There are about 13446 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Belgium. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The present trial investigates the long-term safety, tolerability and efficacy of bosentan in patients with inoperable CTEPH.
Background: Two recent systematic reviews of the literature and meta-analyses have suggested that colloids administration might be deleterious in critically ill patients. Objective: To compare the effects on hospital mortality of crystalloids and colloids when given for fluid resuscitation in critically ill patients. Setting: Adult intensive care units (ICUs) in several European countries. Study design: A multinational, randomised, controlled trial performed on two parallel groups. Intervention: Any type of crystalloids (control group) versus any type of colloids (including albumin). Patients: All patients above the legal age of consent and hospitalised in an intensive care unit, who need fluid resuscitation (according to the physician). Pregnant women, moribund patients, brain dead patients, and patients who have a known allergy to colloids or severe head injury or major burns (> 20% of body surface) or dehydration will not be included. Primary endpoint: 28-day mortality. Hypothesis: Assuming a hospital mortality rate of 20% in the crystalloids group, a 0.05 type I error, 3010 patients are needed to show a difference between the 2 groups of 5% with a 90% probability (two-sided test).
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of two doses of ERB-041 (75 mg and 150 mg) relative to placebo on the relief of endometriosis-related symptoms (dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain, and deep dyspareunia) in reproductive aged women.
Fifteen (15) patients completely edentulous in the maxilla will be treated with 8 dental implants. The total treatment will be done in 2 stages to allow, within the same group, a study of two different approaches. Miniscrews that can be functionally loaded will be provided by 3i with the design and surface textures as wanted by the study sponsor.
This trial is conducted in Europe, Oceania, Africa, Asia and South America. This trial is designed to show the effect of treatment with liraglutide when adding to existing metformin therapy and to compare it with the effects of metformin monotherapy and combination therapy of metformin and glimepiride. Two trial periods: A 6 month (26 weeks) randomised, double-blinded period followed by an 18 months open-label extension, in total 2 years (104 weeks).
As influenza vaccine efficacy is reported to be lower in elderly subjects compared to healthy adults, probably as a result of immunosenescence, there is a desire to devise ways to increase the current vaccines efficacy for this target population. Adjuvants are known to boost immune responses, thus representing one way to increase the efficacy of the current GlaxoSmithKline Fluarix™ influenza vaccine in elderly subjects. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the immunogenicity and the reactogenicity of a vaccination with four different adjuvanted GlaxoSmithKline influenza vaccines administered to elderly subjects. For immunogenicity and safety evaluations, healthy adults aged 18 to 40 years old and elderly aged 65 years and older will receive Fluarix™ and form the control groups of this trial.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the immunogenicity and the reactogenicity of a revaccination with the adjuvanted GlaxoSmithKline influenza vaccine administered intramuscularly about 1 year after administration of the first dose of vaccine. For immunogenicity and safety evaluations, subjects who have already received Fluarix™ during the preceeding year will receive a dose of commercial vaccine and will form the control group of this trial.
The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and feasibility of a novel oxygen carrying solution, HBOC-201, in the setting of PCI for Acute Coronary Syndromes from randomization til hospital discharge.
This study evaluates the effects of bosentan on oxygen saturation, hemodynamics and exercise capacity in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension related to Eisenmenger physiology. Patients receive bosentan or placebo for 16 weeks.
Study to investigate the influence of remifentanil and glycopyrrolate on cardiac index and blood pressure in children. To differentiate between contractility and the effect of the circulating volume, some of the subjects will receive additional fluid. This will be evaluated using two transthoracic echocardiac exams within the first 30 min of anesthesia.
