Dose-response Study of the Safety and Efficacy of Beraprost Sodium Modified Release (BPS-MR) in Patients With Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH)

This is a 12-week, international, multicenter, double-blind, three-group, dose-response study to assess the safety and efficacy of BPS-MR in patients with PAH. Eligible patients will have been previously diagnosed with PAH and will be on a stable course of an ERA and/or PDE-5 inhibitor for at least 60 days prior to Baseline. Patients will be randomized to 1 of 3 treatment groups in a 1:1:1 ratio and will be stratified by PAH background therapy (Endothelium Receptor Antagonist (ERA), Phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5), and both). The treatment groups consist of one Maximum Tolerated Dose (MTD) and two Fixed Dose (FD) groups. Following randomization, patients will begin taking active drug (60µg) orally twice daily. Patients will visit their investigational site at Week 6 and Week 12 for study evaluations.

Safety and Tolerability of Cidofovir Gel Applied on Cervix Squamous Lesions

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infections induce cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) of cervix. To reduce incidence of invasive tumor associated with high grade CIN lesions, the standard treatment is the conisation of cervix (surgical act). A local treatment with the antiviral and anti-proliferative cidofovir would preserve the cervix of young subjects and reduce obstetrical morbidity induced by the conisation. This clinical study is aimed at : 1. evaluating the tolerance and safety of a cidofovir gel directly applied on the cervix exhibiting high grade CIN lesions; 2. evaluating the pharmacokinetic (PK) profile of cidofovir after local application.

Study of Paclitaxel in Patients With Ovarian Cancer

RATIONALE: Paclitaxel is one of the most widely used human anticancer agents. Paclitaxel has a low degree of solubility and Cremophor EL is typically used as the solubiliser. Cremophor EL is known to cause hypersensitivity reactions that can be life-threatening. As Paclical® does not contain Cremophor EL, hypersensitivity reactions can be expected to be less. PURPOSE: To study the efficay and safety of two different formulations of paclitaxel, Paclical® and Taxol®.

A Pharmacokinetic/Pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) and Safety Evaluation of Oseltamivir [Tamiflu] in the Treatment of Infants 0 to <12 Months of Age With Confirmed Flu Infection

This study will assess the pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics and safety of oseltamivir [Tamiflu] therapy in infants less than 1 year of age with influenza diagnosed in the 96 hours prior to the first dose. Patients age 3-12 months will receive 3 mg/kg, 1-3 months will receive 2.5 mg/kg, and birth to 1 month will receive 2 mg/kg twice a day for a total of 10 doses. Patients positive for influenza virus on Day 6 will be eligible to receive continued study treatment for an additional 10 doses (5 days). The anticipated time on study treatment is 4 weeks, and the target sample size is 65-85 male and female infants.

A Study of Tocilizumab in Patients With Active Polyarticular Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

This 3-part study evaluated the efficacy and safety of tocilizumab in patients with active polyarticular-course juvenile idiopathic arthritis who have an inadequate response to, or were intolerant of methotrexate. In Part I of the study, all patients received intravenous (iv) infusions of tocilizumab (8 mg/kg for patients ≥ 30kg, 8 mg/kg or 10 mg/kg for patients < 30kg) every 4 weeks for 16 weeks. In Part II of the study, patients with an adequate response in Part I were randomized to receive either tocilizumab at the same dose as in Part I or placebo every 4 weeks for up to 24 weeks. In Part III of the study, patients received tocilizumab at the same dose as in Part I every 4 weeks for up to another 64 weeks. Standard of care therapy with or without non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), corticosteroids, or methotrexate was continued throughout the study.
