This clinical pilot trial will investigate the effects of technology-supported exercise therapy for chronic non-specific low back pain. Patients will follow an intensive rehabilitation program (2x/week for 18 weeks), with emphasis on motor control training that is supported by technology. The technological system consists out of motion tracking sensors that register the movements and position of the lumbar spine.
Sickle Cell Disease is a serious disease that is life-threatening for patients being homozygous for the SS form or heterozygous for the SC or bthal forms. The CHU Brugmann hospital currently regularly treats about 70 homozygous adult patients and this number is in constant augmentation. The age average of the patients is below 30. The hospital developed a close collaboration with the Queen Fabiola Kids University Hospital to optimize the transition of young sickle cell patients from the pediatric to the adult network. The emergency care of sickle cell patients remains a source of worry. Even with a correct treatment (Hydroxy-urea or exsanguineous transfusions), patients suffer from frequent sickle cell disease crisis when stress or infection cause hemolysis. The pain level is intolerable and causes emergency hospital admission (2 to 3 crisis per patient per year on average). The crisis are more frequent with poor compliance to the treatments. There are several obstacles to the rapid and optimal management of these patients: - fear of causing addiction to heavy pain releaf products (high dosis of morphine) - lack of biological parameters for the determination of the crisis severity. The prognostic value of the lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) level in a vaso-occlusive crisis was recently stressed while activation of the coagulation, translated by the elevation of various parameters including the rate of DD dimers, seemed associated with clinical complications. The deleterious role of increased oxidative stress has also been recently demonstrated in patients with sickle cell disease, opening new therapeutic avenues. This study aims to prospectively evaluate the management of sickle cell patients being admitted in the emergency department for a vaso-occlusive crisis. The level of satisfaction of the patients will be measured. The investigators will also evaluate the predictive value of several routine biological parameters regarding the severity of the crisis, including the values of nitrous albumin (PNA) as marker of oxydative stress. This last dosage will be made in collaboration with the team of Dr Wayenberg and Pr Bottari in Grenoble.

The purpose of this study is to test whether the provision of ONS to malnourished children across Europe, in addition to standard counselling, will improve weight gain and other outcomes. The hypothesis to be tested is: • Supplementation with ONS in malnourished paediatric patients will lead to increased WFH gain, as well as less malnutrition related complications (e.g. infections). Primary outcome • The change in BMI z-score over the intervention period of 3 months Secondary outcomes • The change in WFH-weight for height (z-scores) over the intervention period of 3 months
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the persistence of immune response against the three pertussis antigens (anti- pertussis toxoid (PT), anti-filamentous hemagglutinin (FHA) and anti-pertactin (PRN)) in subjects who received a booster dose of either aP or Tdap study vaccines or Boostrix® during V113_01 study. There was only one Clinic Visit at day 1. Eligible subjects went undergo a single blood draw after which they were observed for approximately 15 minutes. Approximately 10.0 mL of blood was withdrawn. No vaccine was administered and no safety data was collected in this study.
Over the last few years, there has been a considerable interest in the development of screening tools to assess the capability of elderly cancer patients to tolerate anti-cancer treatment. Therefore, the NCCN Guidelines in Senior Adult Oncology recommend an assessment of co-morbid conditions that are likely to interfere with cancer treatment and tolerability. As presbyacusis is common in an older population, elderly cancer patients are at high risk for social isolation and a reduced quality of life. Therefore, in this project the investigators aim to validatie uHear™ as a quick and reliable screening tool to screen for presbyacusisf in routine clinical oncology practice.
1. Hypothesis/Specific aims The aim of the present study proposal is to validate an implant treatment concept in the edentulous upper maxilla using four implants-supported locators abutments to retain removable prosthesis. Specific aims: - The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the implant and prosthodontics success rates of the proposed implant treatment approach after a follow-up period of 1, 3 and 5 years as well as the biological and prosthodontics complications. - The secondary objective is to assess the evolution of patient centered outcomes with the suggested treatment in the maxilla. Oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) and patients' satisfaction relating to their prostheses will be considered. - The third objective will be to compare the implant, prosthodontics and patient-centered outcomes according to the implant distribution; 4 anterior to maxillary sinus (ANT) versus 2 anterior implants and 2 implants in the maxillary tuberosity (POST). Hypothesis: - Implant survival rate using this treatment concept is similar to restoration with implant-supported fixed prosthesis, based on published data. No difference of implant survival rates is found between ANT and POST implant distribution. - Prosthodontics survival rate using the following treatment concept is similar to the ones found with a bar, based on published data. The ANT implant distribution causes fewer prosthodontics complications compared to the POST implant distribution. - There is a significant improvement in OHRQoL and patient satisfaction compared to the baseline OHRQoL observed with a conventional removable denture. The levels of improvement OHRQoL and patient satisfaction are similar for ANT and POST implant distributions.
RATIONALE: Radiation therapy given before surgery of soft tissue sarcoma decreases the size of the tumor mass and the presence of malignant cells in its peripheral region. NBTXR3 and radiation therapy may kill more cancer cells and increase the tumor shrinkage rendering surgery more feasible or easier and achieve better local control of the tumor. PURPOSE: This phase II/III is a prospective randomized, multi-center, open-label and active controlled two arms study in patients with locally advanced soft tissue sarcoma (STS) of the extremity and trunk wall. Patients will be randomized to receive either NBTXR3 as intratumor injection, activated by external beam radiation therapy or external beam radiation therapy alone, as preoperative treatment. Once the radiotherapy treatment is completed, tumor surgery will be performed in all patients.
