There are about 10460 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Australia. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is an autoimmune disease. Based on previous research, study doctors think that giving medicines to affect the immune system soon after diabetes is diagnosed may stop, delay or decrease the destruction of beta cells, resulting in better glucose control. Researchers believe that tocilizumab could have some effect on the cells in the immune system that are thought to be involved in the development of type 1 diabetes. This study will test whether tocilizumab can help preserve or delay destruction of remaining beta cells in people recently diagnosed type 1 diabetes.
The purpose of this study is to estimate the risk of bleeding with rivaroxaban, compared with acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), in addition to a single antiplatelet/ platelet adenosine diphosphate P2Y12 receptor antagonist (P2Y12 inhibitor agent: clopidogrel or ticagrelor), in participants with a recent acute coronary syndrome (ACS: including ST segment elevation myocardial infarction [STEMI] and non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome [NSTE-ACS]).
This will be a non-drug interventional cross-sectional study, where the screening visit and study visit can occur on the same day. Investigational product will not be administered. Approximately 790 subjects with severe asthma will be screened to achieve a total of at least 750 evaluable study subjects. The study will not include a run-in or follow-up period. This study will provide a more reliable description of the severe asthma patient landscape with respect to the potential eligibility for treatment with mepolizumab, omalizumab, and reslizumab. This study aims to estimate the potential overlap of patients eligible for treatment with mepolizumab and those eligible for treatment with omalizumab and/or reslizumab. Additionally, the current study will also ascertain and describe reslizumab eligibility with respect to both mepolizumab and omalizumab, in the severe asthma patient population.
The purpose of this study is to examine whether neurocognitive impairments experienced by patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection can be reversed by treating HCV, with a new combination of direct acting antiviral drugs (daclatasvir (DCV), asunaprevir (ASV) and beclabuvir (BCV)). The study will assess the effect of HCV on the central nervous system (CNS) by assessing neurocognitive function and brain injury prior to treatment, and comparing it to the end of treatment, and 4, 12 and 24 weeks after treatment.
The primary objective of this registry study is to assess the durability of sustained virologic response (SVR) and clinical progression or regression of liver disease including the incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma following SVR in participants with cirrhosis after treatment with a sofosbuvir-based regimen for HCV infection.
The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of eleclazine (GS-6615) on exercise capacity as measured by Peak oxygen uptake (VO2) achieved during cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), in participants with symptomatic hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).
The purpose of the this Pilot Trial is to determine the feasibility of conducting a large randomized controlled trial (RCT), that aims to examine the efficacy and safety of using pantoprazole compared to placebo for stress ulcer prophylaxis in critically ill mechanically ventilated patients in the ICU.
The QP ExCELs study is designed to confirm safety and efficacy of the BIOTRONIK Sentus OTW QP left ventricular leads to satisfy FDA requirements for regulatory approval of the leads in the US. The Sentus OTW QP leads received FDA approval on May 4, 2017. Long-term safety of the BIOTRONIK Sentus OTW QP left ventricular leads will be confirmed during the ongoing post approval phase (US sites only). A protocol update was implemented on September 6, 2019 to transition the long-term follow up for the ongoing Sentus QP Study to a new EP PASSION real-world data methodology.
This is a randomized, double blind, 3 arm (1:1:1) study in subjects with 1st-line metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. The purpose is to test the efficacy and safety of demcizumab, when given in combination with gemcitabine and Abraxane® compared to placebo. The administration of gemcitabine and Abraxane® is a standard treatment for patients with metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
The study seeks to assess the efficacy of veliparib (ABT-888) in combination with carboplatin and etoposide in participants with extensive disease small cell lung cancer (ED SCLC).
