Mental Stress Symptoms in Family Caregivers of Palliative Patients

Receiving a life-limiting diagnosis is often a shock for those affected as well as for their relatives, which changes the entire life situation of the family. New perspectives often arise, as well as feelings of worry, sadness and powerlessness. Caregiving is often an extreme physical challenge, but above all a psychological one. Aims of the study 1. To investigate whether family caregivers of palliative patients with severe trait anxiety in the care situation also suffer from severe state anxiety. 2. To investigate whether family caregivers of palliative patients with increased stress levels and burnout-promoting work-related behaviour suffer more from burnout symptoms, health-related anxiety and psychosomatic complaints. 3. To investigate the impact of nursing support by a mobile palliative team on family caregivers of palliative patients.

A Research Study Investigating Mim8 in Adults and Adolescents With Haemophilia A With or Without Inhibitors

This study is investigating how Mim8 works compared to other medicines in people with haemophilia A, who either have inhibitors or do not have inhibitors. Mim8 is a new medicine that will be used for prevention of bleeding episodes. Mim8 works by replacing the function of the missing clotting factor VIII (FVIII). When and how often participants will receive Mim8 is dependent on their previous treatment - but is otherwise decided by chance. Mim8 will be injected into a skinfold on the stomach with a thin needle either once a week or once a month. The study will last 54-124 weeks (12-29 months) depending on how long participants will be followed in run-in before they start treatment and if they continue in the follow period or transfer to an open label extension study. Participants will have 12-17 clinic visits.

Dual Mobility Total Joint Prosthesis (Touch) for Thumb Carpometacarpal Joint Osteoarthritis

The dual mobility concept currently represents the newest generation of thumb carpometacarpal prostheses. The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcomes of TOUCH® prosthesis. From September 2019 to December 2023,a minimum of 100 prosthesis shall be implanted in patients suffering from symptomatic stage III osteoarthritis. All included patients will follow a systematic follow-up regimen (4, 8, 16 weeks, 6, and 12 months as well as 24 months postoperatively). Radiographics, ROM, VAS, DASH and Pinch grip are measured. Aim of the study is to compare clinical outcome of dual mobility prosthesis with common results of CMC I Prosthesis in literature.

Long-Term Observational Study on Effectiveness and Safety of Lecigon in Patients With Advanced Parkinson's Disease

This observational study is designed to collect data on the use of the drug Lecigon® in daily clinical practice. The study is organised and funded by a pharmaceutical company called Britannia Pharmaceuticals Ltd (Britannia). Lecigon® is prescribed by physicians in advanced Parkinson's disease when patients suffer from uncontrollable fluctuations in mobility, so-called motor fluctuations, which cannot be adjusted well with oral treatment, i.e. medication for swallowing. In this study, data on the effect and possible side effects from everyday treatment with Lecigon® will be collected and scientifically evaluated. The study is intended to supplement the results of previous clinical studies with clinical data in routine medical care, collected from approximately 300 patients.

Contribution of Nasal IgE Production to the Boost of Systemic Allergen-specific IgE Upon Nasal Allergen Contact

IgE-associated allergies are consistently on the rise forming an enormous wellbeing concern and affecting about 25% of the population around the world, with main prevalence in developed nations. Birch pollen is one important allergen driving allergic conjunctivitis and rhinitis. The characteristics and location IgE producing cells in the nose and their contribution to the subsequent increase in allergen-specific IgE levels in the serum have so far poorly been investigated. Understanding these mechanisms is critical for the development of new therapeutic approaches and is thus the aim of the proposed study. Thus, the investigators plan to conduct a two-armed study of a randomized placebo-controlled double-blind nasal allergen provocation where 30 patients will be provoked with birch pollen extract (n=20) or placebo (n=10) out of the birch pollen season (October) and follow them closely for up to 4 months. Therefore, the objective of this study is to investigate the localization and characteristics of IgE producing cells in the nasal mucosa contributing to the allergen-induced boosts of specific serum IgE upon natural and controlled nasal allergen exposure.

Iron Status in Female Infertility and Recurrent Miscarriage

Multiple studies suggest a link between the iron status and the development of the endometrium. Therefore, a sufficient iron supply seems to relevant for female fertility and reproduction. To gain further insight on the effects of iron status on female fertility, a prospective study on infertile women und women with recurrent miscarriage will be conducted. In these, the iron status will be evaluated in detail. In addition, a control group of healthy women without infertility will be enrolled.
