There are about 6915 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Austria. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Increased levels of NT-proBNP are known to increase the risk of cardiac events in diabetic patients. The other way around, patients with normal values have an excellent prognosis on short-term. We intend in our study to proof the hypothesis, whether it is possible to decrease NT-proBNP levels by intensified cardiac prevention care We aim those patients, who already have elevated levels, although no history of a cardiac disease. This decrease in NT-proBNP should be translated consequently in a decrease in cardiac events
In usual clinical conditions, depressed patients with no sexual dysfunction, after signing their consent for the dissemination of their clinical information will begin their treatment with any SSRI or a Dual antidepressant as per the best clinical decision of their treating psychiatrist. Sexual dysfunction will be identified along the 6 months of active observation. Psychiatrists will decide to change dose, augment, shift or combine antidepressants at their clinical discretion in the benefit of their patients and all clinical decisions will be recorded.Comparisons among antidepressants will be made in terms of their sexual dysfunction potentiality.
The main objective of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of aflibercept (versus placebo) in increasing the overall survival in participants with metastatic colorectal cancer treated with FOLFIRI (Irinotecan, 5-Fluorouracil, and Leucovorin) and that have previously failed an oxaliplatin based treatment for metastatic disease. The secondary objectives were to compare progression-free survival, to evaluate overall response rate, to evaluate the safety profile, to assess immunogenicity of intravenous (IV) aflibercept, and to assess pharmacokinetics of IV aflibercept in both treatment arms.
Self-management is safe and reliable in patients with long-term oral anticoagulation (OAC). However, no study has yet assessed the safety and efficacy of OAC self-management in elderly patients with major thromboembolic and haemorrhagic complications as primary outcomes. In this multi-centre, open, randomised controlled trial, patients aged 60 years or will be randomised into a self-management or routine care group and followed up for at least two years. The primary hypothesis of the study is that self-management of oral anticoagulation is superior compared to routine control in terms of reducing thromboembolic events requiring hospitalisation and all major bleeding complications as the primary endpoint.
The aim of this study is to demonstrate that clazosentan, administered as a continuous intravenous infusion at 5 mg/h until Day 14 post aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH), reduces the incidence of cerebral vasospasm -related morbidity and all-cause mortality within 6 weeks post-aSAH treated by surgical clipping. The primary endpoint of the study is the occurrence of cerebral vasospasm-related morbidity, and mortality of all-causes within 6 weeks post-aSAH, defined by at least one of the following: 1. Death (all causes). 2. New cerebral infarct(s) due to cerebral vasospasm as either the primary or relevant contributing cause, or not adjudicated to be entirely due to causes other than vasospasm. 3. Delayed ischemic neurological deficit (DIND) due to cerebral vasospasm as either the primary or relevant contributing cause, or not adjudicated to be entirely due to causes other than vasospasm. 4. Neurological signs or symptoms (depending on state of consciousness), in the presence of confirmed cerebral vasospasm on angiography (DSA or CTA), leading to the administration of a valid rescue therapy. An independent Critical Events Committee (CEC) will adjudicate whether or not patients meet the primary endpoint and its individual morbidity components.
The primary efficacy objective is to evaluate whether dabigatran etexilate is superior to placebo in the long-term prevention of recurrent symptomatic venous thrombo-embolism (VTE) in patients with symptomatic deep-vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism (PE) who completed 6 to 18 months of treatment with vitamin K antagonist (VKA).
The aim of the present study is the optimization of various magnetic resonance (MR) investigation protocols of the heart and the lung without contrast agent application as well as the generation of normal values from cardiac MR images. One of the main problems in cardiac MR investigations is the strong dependence of the achieved image quality on optimal settings of sequence parameters and anatomical and physiological situations with special emphasis on phase-contrast imaging and other cine-techniques.
This 2 arm study will evaluate the efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetics of Tarceva, compared with placebo, following platinum-based chemotherapy in patients with advanced, recurrent, or metastatic NSCLC who have not had disease progression or unacceptable toxicity during chemotherapy. Following 4 cycles of platinum-based chemotherapy, eligible patients will be randomized to receive either Tarceva 150mg po daily, or placebo daily. The anticipated time on study treatment is until disease progression; the target sample size is 500+ individuals.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether denosumab compared to placebo, will reduce the rate of first clinical fracture in women with non-metastatic breast cancer receiving (non-steroidal) aromatase inhibitor therapy.
This 2 arm study will evaluate the efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetics of Tarceva and that of standard of care chemotherapy in patients with advanced, recurrent, or metastatic NSCLC experiencing disease progression after failure of platinum-based chemotherapy.Eligible patients will be randomized to receive either Tarceva 150mg po daily, or comparator (either Alimta 500mg/m2 every 3 weeks, or Taxotere 75mg/m2 every 3 weeks). The anticipated time on study treatment is until disease progression ,and the target sample size is 500+ individuals.
