EMPACT-MI: A Study to Test Whether Empagliflozin Can Lower the Risk of Heart Failure and Death in People Who Had a Heart Attack (Myocardial Infarction)

This is a study in adults who had a heart attack (myocardial infarction). The purpose of this study is to find out whether a medicine called empagliflozin helps to lower the chances of having to go to the hospital for heart failure and whether it lowers the chances of dying from cardiovascular disease. People who are in hospital may join the study soon after being treated for their heart attack. Participants are put into 2 groups by chance. One group takes 1 empagliflozin tablet a day. The other group takes 1 placebo tablet a day. Placebo tablets look like empagliflozin tablets but do not contain any medicine. All participants continue their standard treatment. Empagliflozin belongs to a class of medicines known as SGLT-2 inhibitors. Empagliflozin is a medicine that helps people with type 2 diabetes to lower their blood sugar. Researchers think that empagliflozin might also help people after heart attack who are at risk for heart failure, whether or not they have diabetes. Participants are in the study for about 1 to 2 years. During this time, there are about 4 visits inperson, 2 visits are done either by phone or by use of an mobile application. Results between the empagliflozin and placebo groups are compared. The doctors also regularly check the general health of the participants.

The Accuracy of Pediatric Air Test as a Non-invasive Atelectasis Diagnostic Tool

HYPOTHESIS: During anesthetic pre-oxygenation with high FiO2, pulmonary atelectasis occur, especially in patients < 6 years old, where FRC and pulmonary closing volume may overlap. New borns and children <1 year old are especially vulnerable. OBJECTIVES: 1. Validate "air test" as a individualized and non-invasive diagnostic method of clinically significant atelectasis in pediatrics. 2. Determine what other factors contribute to atelectasis development in pediatrics METHODS: 30 pediatric patients will be studied with ages ranged between 45 postconceptional weeks and16 years old. Baseline SpO2 and lung ultrasound will be performed for each patient upon arrival at the operating theatre before preoxygenation with FiO2 of 1.0 SpO2 will be measured 15 min after intubation during a 5 min long "air test" trial (FiO2 0.25). lung collapse will be verified by lung ultrasound at the end of the 15 min trial. Lung collapse will be eventually granted upon lung US verification by a blind researcher.

A Study of Ponatinib With Chemotherapy in Children, Teenagers, and Adults With Philadelphia Chromosome-Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

This study is about an anticancer drug called ponatinib which is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor given with chemotherapy to children, teenagers, and young adults up to 21 years of age with Philadelphia Chromosome-Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia who have relapsed or are resistant to other treatment. The main aims of this study are to confirm the highest dose of ponatinib tablets and minitablet capsules that can be given to participants with acceptable side effects, and to evaluate if participant's leukemia achieves remission. Participants will take ponatinib tablets with chemotherapy. For participants who cannot swallow tablets or who are receiving less than a 10 mg dose, a capsule with small ponatinib minitablets inside will be provided. Participants will take ponatinib for 10 weeks in combination with chemotherapy (reinduction and consolidation blocks) and will be followed up for at least 3 years.

A Study of Oral Upadacitinib Tablets to Assess Treatment Patterns, Achievement of Treatment Targets and Maintenance of Response in Adult Participants With Moderate to Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory disease of the joints causing pain, stiffness, swelling and loss of joint function. Despite the range of treatment options for RA steadily increasing, many patients remain sub-optimally managed, with sustained clinical remission rarely achieved. This study will assess the treatment patterns, achievement of treatment targets and maintenance of response. Upadacitinib is a drug approved for the treatment of moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis. Adult participants with moderate to severe RA who have been prescribed upadacitinib by their physicians will be enrolled. Approximately, 1660 participants will be enrolled this study, worldwide. Participants will not receive Upadacitinib as part of this study, but will be followed for response to treatment for up to 24 months. There may be higher burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits, every 3 months, during the course of the study at a hospital or clinic and will be asked to provide additional information by questionnaire at each visit.
