Filter by:Sparing the phrenic nerve by administering ultrasound-guided low volume superior trunk block (STB) and interscalene block (ISB) for arthroscopic shoulder surgery (labral repair, stabilization, rotator cuff repair).
Post-discharge pain after total knee arthroplasty remains problematic; many patients have excessive pain at the 2 week time point (and often thereafter). Reduction in opioid use has become a national goal, due to the 'epidemic' in opioid misuse. In addition to enrolling non-opioid users, we will enroll up to 15 chronic opioid users.
prospective cohort study of women who underwent caesarean section in mulago hospital. followed up for 2 months and assessed for development of persistent post operative pain at the incision site and its effect on quality of life. incidence of persistent postoperative pain and associated factors determined.
The study will examine how medical cannabis use affects opioid analgesic use over time, with particular attention to THC/CBD content, HIV outcomes, and severe adverse events.
Chronic pain and depression frequently co-exist in late and mid-life and contribute to increased disability, high health care costs, psychiatric comorbidity, and suicide. The investigators will recruit 60 adults from Weill Cornell Medical Associates primary care practices; participants will be randomized to either Relief (a 9 session behavioral intervention) or usual care/referral for mental health care. Research assessments are conducted with both groups at study entry (Baseline), 6, 9, and 12 weeks.
To demonstrate the value of multiple modalities and sustained clinically significant pain relief in patients with chronic pain when using the Boston Scientific Spectra WaveWriter Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) System.
A double-blind, randomized, and placebo-controlled clinical study examining whether duloxetine, a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI), could enhance opioid analgesia and reduce overall opioid use. Positive outcomes will help improve the overall effectiveness of clinical opioid therapy and reduce unnecessary opioid dose escalation.
Eighty patients with chronic shoulder pain after breast surgery were allocated randomly into 2 groups; forty patients received fluoroscopically guided supra-scapular nerve pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) followed by injection of 0.25% bupivacaine solution containing 40 mg of methylprednisolone (group1) and forty patients received fluoroscopically guided supra-scapular nerve injection of of 0.25% bupivacaine solution containing 40 mg of methylprednisolone (group 2) without active pulsed radiofrequency only demo mode was applied.
The present investigation aims at exploring the effect of including a pain app called Pain Monitor for chronic pain patients' daily monitoring. Three conditions will be set: 1. usual treatment (waiting list) 2. usual treatment + app (without alarms) 3. usual treatment + app (with alarms)
This project is a preliminary randomized controlled trial testing the potential impact of the PTSD Coach mobile application at reducing posttraumatic stress and pain symptoms among acutely injured trauma patients. Immediately following the injury, patients will be randomly assigned to use the PTSD Coach app, or to the treatment as usual condition.
