The Prediction Model of NAC Response for Breast Cancer Based on The Parametric Dynamics Features.

The main purpose of this study is to develop a computer-aided prediction model for NAC treatment response. Based on the heterogeneity of internal parametric tumor composition commonly observed, this study will utilize the histologic characteristics and treatment response to investigate the image features as input data for predicting treatment response using Deep Learning technology. Using this technique, preoperative treatment evaluation may be facilitated by tumor heterogeneity analysis from developed dynamic radiomics, and the possibility of personal medicine can be realized not far ahead. In the first two years of this study using images from DCE-MRI, PET/CT and QDS-IR, we plan to develop the image processing algorithms, including segmenting breast and tumor region, extracting image feature which reflects angiogenic properties and permeability of tumor, which are highly correlated with NAC treatment response. During the third year of the project, the morphology and texture features from first two years can be combined for PET/MRI and prediction model can be achieved in accordance with the features extracted from dynamic features extraction using longitudinal images of PET/MRI.

The Effect of Music During Chemotherapy

Purpose: Chemotherapy treatment is a very different and difficult process. Considering the many physiological and psychological problems that patients experience during and after the treatment process, chemotherapy symptoms and psychological problems affect the quality of life of patients. Along with the burden of the disease, patients who experience physiological problems during chemotherapy may experience depression, stress, and anxiety. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the effect of music played during chemotherapy on depression, anxiety, stress levels, and chemotherapy symptoms. Method: This study was conducted in a randomized controlled manner with a pretest-posttest control group random design model. The study population consisted of patients receiving treatment in the outpatient chemotherapy unit of Maltepe University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. The study sample consisted of 49 patients who met the inclusion criteria. The power analysis determined that the sample number was 42 people in total, 21 in the experimental group and 21 in the control group. However, considering the data losses, it was decided that the number would be 25 experimental and 25 control. When one patient from the experimental group did not want to continue, the study was completed with 49 patients, 24 in the experimental group and 25 in the control group. The music recital will be applied 4 times in total, once a week, until the patients complete 1 cycle, i.e. 4 sessions. Patients in the experimental group were administered the Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale (DASS -42) and Edmonton Symptom Diagnostic Scale (ESDS) before each session until the completion of one cycle, and music was played for 20-25 minutes during chemotherapy. After chemotherapy, the scales were applied again. In the control group, the scales were applied before chemotherapy treatment, no intervention was made during chemotherapy and the scales were applied again after chemotherapy.

The nurses' ability to effectively manage the side effects of chemotherapy depends on gaining specific knowledge, attitudes, and skills during their vocational training and the development of problem-solving and critical thinking. The research was carried out to examine the effect of chemotherapy symptom management education based on the online flipped learning model on the achievement, critical thinking, and self-directed learning of nursing students.

The Effect of Music Applied During Chemotherapy on Anxiety, Nausea and Satisfaction Levels

Chemotherapy is a treatment that uses natural or synthetic chemicals and biological agents to kill rapidly proliferating cells. As chemotherapeutic drugs prevent the growth and proliferation of cancer cells, they also inhibit the growth of normal cells such as intestinal and oral mucosal epithelium, bone marrow cells, and hair follicle cells. During chemotherapy treatment, which is widely used in the treatment of cancer cases and considered one of the most effective methods of cancer treatment, individuals; may experience side effects such as nausea-vomiting, loss of appetite, mouth ulcers, pain, fatigue, anxiety, depression, sleep problems, and changes in their skin and nails. There are several factors that can trigger anxiety in cancer patients: fear of cancer and its treatment-related side effects, fear of relapse after treatment, uncertainty, concerns about changing roles and relationships, and fear of death. Treatment methods are available for a variety of side effects and negative effects experienced by cancer patients. These methods include pharmacological and nonpharmacological approaches. For example, benzodiazepines are frequently used to treat anxiety in cancer patients. If benzodiazepines are not adequate, low-dose antipsychotics can be used. However, benzodiazepines and their derivatives may reduce respiratory function, induce sedation, and cause confusion. Music is an example of non-pharmacological cognitive-behavioral treatment that is used to control negative symptoms in many fields. The use of music for healing is easy, has no side effects, and is beneficial for physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Anxiety and fear can be reduced by therapeutic music, which increases endorphin secretion and positive emotions. Treatment of serious illnesses such as cancer requires a holistic approach that includes psychological, social, and spiritual support in addition to pharmacological treatment. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine how different types of music affect cancer patients' anxiety and satisfaction during chemotherapy.

Effectiveness of Immersive Virtual Reality in Patients With Cancer

The goal of this clinical trial is to study the effects of Immersive Virtual Reality in patients with cancer undergoing chemotherapy. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Could the immersive virtual reality application prevents or reduces anxiety, prevents or reduces fatigue, prevents or reduces pain, improves therapeutic adherence, prevents or reduces adverse events, then cancer patients treated with narrative medicine, and then cancer patients in standard care only? - Could the immersive virtual reality application show symptoms of cybersickness? Participants will be randomly allocated with balanced allocation ratio 1: 1: 1 into three groups: 1) Virtual Reality group; 2) Narrative medicine group; 3) Standard care group. In the virtual reality arm, patients will use a Virtual Reality headset. The multimedia contents in VR, will have a video quality from 4K to 8K, 360 degrees, and High Definition audio stereo. In control arm, patients will be free to choose different activities during the infusion of chemotherapy, such as conversation with nurses, doctors, trainees, reading, writing, watching television, listening to music or videos on their smartphone. In narrative medicine arm, patients will express their subjective experience regarding to the chemotherapy through writing. The experience will be written in free form by the patient and will cover both the cognitive, emotional and perceptual aspects. A nurse will always be available to guide the patient in the activity of expressing cognitive, emotional and perceptual contents. Researchers will compare the Virtual Reality group, Narrative Medicine group, Standard care group, to see the effects regarding to anxiety, fatigue, pain, improves therapeutic adherence and adverse events.

Role of the ATP7A Transporter in Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian cancer has the highest mortality rate among all gynecologic cancers, with most patients presenting with advanced stage tumors. About a third of patients do not respond to primary platinum-based chemotherapy treatment, and over time up to 80 % of others develop chemoresistance, rendering recurrent disease incurable. Despite all the studies published in the literature, it has not been proven that the number of cells with expressed ATP7A in certain tumors increases independently of the therapy. In addition, no study has been conducted on a sample of patients with confirmed serous histology of ovarian cancer only. The aim of the study is to demonstrate increased expression of the ATP7A transporter in cells resistant to carboplatin.
