Filter by:Study CKJX839B12302 is a pivotal Phase III trial to evaluate the benefits of inclisiran on major adverse cardiovascular (MACE) events in participants with established cardiovascular disease (CVD).
Background: Potent antithrombotic therapy has improved prognosis for patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI) significantly, however, at a price of increased bleeding risk. Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection commonly causes upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB). If systematic screening for H. pylori and subsequent eradication therapy significantly reduces the risk of UGIB and improves outcomes is unknown. Study design: A cluster randomized, cross-over, registry-based clinical trial using nationwide Swedish registries for patient enrollment and data collection. Population: Patients hospitalized for MI at up to 40 hospitals across Sweden. Regional PCI networks comprise 18 clusters. Clusters will be randomized to H. pylori screening or no screening for 1 year after which cross-over to the opposite strategy for 1 year is followed by 1-year follow-up. Intervention: All MI patients will be routinely screened for H. pylori. Patients diagnosed with active H. pylori infection will receive eradication therapy. All follow-up by data collection from national registries. Controls: Standard clinical practice. Data will be collected from national registries. Outcome: Primary outcome is the incidence of hospitalization for UGIB. Secondary outcomes include mortality (all-cause, cardiovascular), cardiovascular endpoints (rehospitalization for MI, heart failure or stroke), or UGIB requiring blood transfusion.
This study is conducted to see if ziltivekimab reduces the risk of having cardiovascular events (for example heart attack and stroke) in people with cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease and inflammation. Participants will either get ziltivekimab (active medicine) or placebo (a dummy medicine which has no effect on the body). This is known as the study medicine. Which treatment participants get is decided by chance. Participants chance of getting ziltivekimab or placebo is the same. Ziltivekimab is not yet approved in any country or region in the world. It is a new medicine doctors cannot prescribe. Participants will get the study medicine in a pre filled syringe. Participants will need to use the pre filled syringe to inject the study medicine into a skinfold once-monthly. The study is expected to last for up to 4 years. Participants will have up to 20 clinic visits. Participants will have blood and urine samples taken at most of the clinic visits. Participants will have their heart examined using sound waves (echocardiography) and electrodes (electrocardiogram). Women cannot take part if pregnant, breast-feeding or planning to get pregnant during the study period.
Coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) affected the health care systems all around the world. The collateral damage of the pandemic on the cardiovascular (CV) care and CV mortality has been noticed and reported early. In Lithuania, first quarantine measurements were introduced on 16th March and lifted on 16th June of 2020, limiting contact appointments to urgent care only. This led to a substantial proportion of routine cardiovascular appointments, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures being cancelled and greatly limited the availability of cardiovascular care. The prognostic impact of this has not been appropriately analysed. Also, comprehensive analyses of the changes in national CV services, including outpatient care and hospitalisations and CV mortality, during different periods of the pandemic (during first and second waves and in between) are scarce. The objectives of this population-based study were: (1) to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on CV care (2) to compare rates of outpatient care visits and hospitalisations of cardiovascular patients in different periods of 2019 and 2020 (3) to compare the rates of CV mortality in Lithuania in different periods of 2019 and 2020 (4) to investigate sex and age differences in CV care and CV mortality
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy, efficiency and cost - effectiveness of a cardiac telerehabilitation program using wearable sensors Design: Supervised single-blinded randomized controlled trial, comparing three groups, with follow-ups at baseline, 12 weeks (completion of the intervention), 6 months after the completion of the intervention Setting: cardiac rehabilitation centres, patients home environments Participants: A total of 102 cardiac patients, regardless sex, aged 18 years and older were randomly assigned to a telerehabilitation group (n = 34), a centre - based cardiac rehabilitation group(n=34) and a usual care control group (n = 34). Interventions: Exercise - based cardiac rehabilitation program for the intervention groups (both in cardiac clinics' settings and in patients' homes) consisted of three sessions each week for 12 consecutive weeks. The control group received no exercise intervention. Measurements: Main outcome was measured by Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing. Secondary outcomes were measured by accelerometry and the use of proper questionnaires.

This is a non-CTIMP randomised controlled trial looking at the utilisation of telemedicine devices to provide remote, clinically necessary, diagnostic information, without the need for hospital attendance that patients will take home with them following admission to hospital with a heart attack.
This study is being done to better understand the influence of cardiovascular disease on brain blood flow regulation and cognitive function, determine whether exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation can lead to better regulation of brain blood flow that may help to improve or maintain cognitive function, and determine whether exercise intensity influences changes in brain blood flow regulation and cognitive function.
Physical activity is a key element in cardiac rehabilitation and prevention of cardiovascular mortality and hospitalizations. After cardiac rehabilitation programs end, physical activity levels and participation in continued cardiac rehabilitation declines. The aim of this study is to evaluate the feasibility a mobile health intervention with text messages and behavior change theory in patients with cardiovascular disease for a duration of 3 months after completion of a cardiac rehabilitation program. An intervention consisting of action planning, text messages, and coordinator support is tested in a feasibility trial design with 40 expected participants.
Rationale: Combining statin treatment and physical activity is very effective for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Statins are well-tolerated by most patients, but may cause statin-associated muscle symptoms (SAMS) and elevated markers of skeletal muscle damage in some patients. Several studies have shown that statins augment increases in serum creatine kinase after eccentric or vigorous exercise. If statins also increase muscle damage markers after exercises of moderate intensity is unclear. Symptomatic statin users may be more susceptible to exercise-induced skeletal muscle injury, however, previous studies did not differentiate between symptomatic and asymptomatic statin users. Objective: To compare the impact of moderate-intensity exercise on muscle damage markers between symptomatic and asymptomatic statin users, and non-statin using controls. A secondary objective is to examine the association between leukocytes coenzyme Q10 levels and exercise-induced muscle damage and muscle complaints.
