Filter by:This study is a prospective, multicenter, parallel, open-label, randomized, controlled, superiority trial. It is planned to recruit 8,250 patients with multi-vessel disease(MVD), and the patients will be followed-up for at least 12 months after being implanted with a drug-eluting stent (DES) at one of 100 different centers. All patients will be randomly divided into the treatment group and control group on a 1:1 basis, based on a complete randomization.
The Innovative Support for Patients with SARS COV-2 Infections Registry (INSPIRE) study is a CDC-funded COVID-19 project to understand the long-term health outcomes in recently tested adults, both negative and positive, who have suspected COVID symptoms at the time of their test. Participants will complete short online surveys every 3 months for 18 months, share information about their health using a secure web-based platform, and are compensated for their time.
The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of partial replacement of red meat with legume-based foods on gut metabolism and markers for colorectal cancer as well as markers for cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes in healthy working age men. The study participants will be stratified into two groups with different amounts of red meat in diet: 1) a diet containing 760 g of cooked and boneless red meat, supplying 25% of daily protein intake and 2) a diet supplying 20% of protein intake with legume-based foods and 5% of protein intake with red meat. The participants will get all meat and and legume-based foods from the research center; otherwise they will be asked to follow their habitual diet. Blood, urine, and stool samples will be collected at the baseline and at the end of the 6 week intervention, as well as BMI, blood pressure and body composition. Nutrient intake and food consumption will be analyzed from 4-day food records at the baseline and at the end of the intervention period.
EMMACE-XL will recruit participants who are survivors of acute coronary syndrome (a type of heart attack) to assess their health-related quality of life five years or more after their heart attack. We will invite surviving participants from the EMMACE 3 and 4 studies to consent to participate in EMMACE-XL study, they will be asked to complete one questionnaire relating to their health, medication and lifestyle. The questionnaire will be linked to their data collected as part of the EMMACE 3 and 4 studies including long term follow up data from NHS Digital. The data collected from all the studies will then be analysed to see if patient groups can be identified who are at risk of poorer quality of life and worse health outcomes. These groups can then be targeted with the aim of improving their health outcomes. The study will use statistical methods to look at the relationship of factors such asÍž medication adherence, comorbidities and patient demographics on health-related quality of life and health outcomes.
The COVID-RASi study is an international randomized clinical trial that will evaluate the potential benefit of angiotensin modulators on clinical outcomes, in COVID-19 patients. The purpose of this study is to determine if renin-angiotensin system inhibitors (RASi), with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEi) or angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB), has a beneficial effect in patients with COVID-19 infections, by reducing ICU admission, ventilator requirement or death. We would also like to determine if there are differences between ACEi and ARB therapeutic treatments. With the increasing potential of long COVID symptoms, at the 1 year follow up, a primary endpoint will be the quality of life of study participants, as assessed by ongoing symptoms and/or the standardized questionnaires.
Previous studies suggested that most patients with Cardiac Electronic Implantable devices have a perception of describing the lifestyle due to a limitation of daily activities and physical exercise, besides the consequences in the psychological aspects such as anxiety and depression. The MHOL-CEID is a randomized controlled trial that Verifies the effectiveness of the Mobile Health of lifestyle that focuses on aspects of physical functional, psychosocial, and quality of life of patients with Cardiac Electronic Implantable Device.
Older women with cardiovascular disease (CVD) are at greater risk for memory loss, an important public health issue due to the negative effects to quality of life and health care costs. This research will be the first to examine the independent and combined effects of a lifestyle physical activity intervention and cognitive training on memory performance and memory-related serum biomarkers in this vulnerable population. The investigators will incorporate a practical lifestyle approach that can be delivered in the home and community settings to prevent or delay memory loss in older women with CVD.
The VA is the largest single provider of HIV care in the US and Veterans with HIV use significantly more healthcare services and have a 1.5-2x higher risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) compared to uninfected Veterans. The goal is to improve BP treatment for Veterans with HIV to reduce ASCVD risk. Within a RCT, the investigators hypothesize that the VA adapted nurse-led intervention will result in a clinically significant 6mmHg reduction in SBP over 12 months compared to those receiving enhanced education only. The study is innovative because of the use of stakeholder-engaged design process, multi-component nurse-led intervention, and VA Video Connect (VVC) to monitor CVD risk factors. The project meets VA strategic priorities including: 1) greater choice for Veterans; 2) improve timeliness of services; 3) focus more resources more efficiently (strengthen foundational services in VA). If shown to be effective, this intervention will have substantial impact among high-risk Veterans, potentially reducing ASCVD events by more than a quarter.
This intervention study using the Stroke Riskometer Apps as health promotion and disease prevention tools for the stroke prevention. Study will specifically target the young adult population (18-50 years old) who are the population at risk for young stroke. The study will determine the effectiveness of Stroke Riskometer Apps by assessing the awareness (knowledge, perception of stroke risk and intention to change behaviours) using the translated ABCD risk questionnaire and stroke risk probability using Stroke Riskometer Apps.
The study focuses on the development of a new personalized approach to diagnostics and surgical treatment of patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy. The algorithm for selection of patients for certain type of cardiac surgery will be developed. The models for prediction of the risks and outcomes of cardiac surgery will be elaborated to reduce the rate of complications in the early and long-term postoperative period in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy. Imaging modalities, methods for assessement of structural and functional state of the myocardium, biochemistry testing, immunohistochemical examination, and myocardial biopsy studies will be used to achieve these goals.
