Real Time In-Vivo Dosimetry For Gynecologic Brachytherapy

This is an observational study. The purpose is to determine the feasibility of using a novel nano-scintillator fiber-optic dosimeter (nanoFOD) for the real time dosimetric monitoring of brachytherapy treatment. Women with gynecologic cancers treated with brachytherapy as part of their standard therapeutic regimen will represent the study population.

The objective of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of the Pac-IFicO programme in improving the quality of pain management in hospitalised cancer patients. This is a before-after cluster phase II study performed in medicine, oncology and respiratory disease hospital wards. The Pac-IFicO programme is a complex interventions with multiple components. The primary end-point of the study is the proportion of cancer patients with severe pain.

The EndoCuff is novel flexible cuff that can be attached to the distal tip of the colonoscope and helps to flatten large mucosal folds during withdrawal. The study hypothesis is that the use of the Endocuff (EC) increases the adenoma detection rate during colonoscopy. The study purpose is to compare EC-assisted colonoscopy with standard colonoscopy for polyp detection.

A better understanding of the risk factors for these complications in this population would then allow interventional studies to be proposed to assess the benefit of prophylactic procedures in a sub-group of patients at most risk.

A single arm, pilot study was organized to evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of psychological counselling for cancer patients who demonstrated anxiety for diagnostic tests. The hypothesis was that taking part in Psychoeducative Training could offer a new modality to reduce anxiety, before and during tests, and also the possibility to reinforce coping strategies.
