Filter by:The purpose of this protocol is to conduct a 2-arm, single-blinded randomized controlled clinical trial (RCT) in which 56 dyads (defined as consisting of an overweight or obese cancer survivor of an obesity-related cancer and an overweight or obese "buddy" of his or her choosing) would be assigned either to a 6-month, diet- and exercise-based weight loss intervention delivered via an interactive website with tailored text messages, or to a 6-month wait-listed control group. The overall goals of the eHealth intervention are to reduce obesity and select circulating biomarkers (tumor necrosis factor alpha [TNFα], insulin, and insulin-like growth factor-1 [IGF-1]), as well as improve diet quality, physical activity, health-related quality of life (QoL), physical functioning and performance as compared to the control over the 6-month study period.
The purpose of this study is to enable patients, who are currently receiving rogaratinib in a Bayer-sponsored clinical trial (incl. NCT01976741), to continue treatment after their respective study has been closed. Another aim is to learn if rogaratinib is safe and how it affects the body. Rogaratinib is an investigational drug that may treat different types of cancer, incl. non-small-cell lung cancer, small-cell lung cancer, urothelial carcinoma, head, neck and breast cancer. The drug may stop the growth of cancer cells by targeting different cell proteins called fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFR) that are needed for the survival of the cancer cells.

Undertreated patient symptoms and resulting acute care use require approaches that improve symptom-burden. Previously a a lay health worker (LHW)-led symptom screening intervention was developed for patients with advanced cancer. This intervention will be expanded to all patients with cancer and the LHW will be trained to refer patients to palliative care and behavioral health. This intervention will evaluate the effect on symptom-burden, survival, healthcare use, and total costs.

Pediatric ACP (Advance Care Planning) (pACP) (1) Supports communication with children/adolescents at any stage of a serious illness in understanding their illness, complications, fears, and hopes, as well as treatment preferences regarding future medical care with their family; (2) Communicates these goals of care and treatment preferences with their physician; and (3) Documents these goals of care and end-of-life treatment preferences. Among adolescents, cancer is the leading cause of disease-related deaths. Survival has improved far less for 15 to 24 year-olds than it has for older patients. About one-fourth will die prematurely. No pediatric Advance Care Planning (pACP) model exists to serve Spanish speaking adolescents with cancer. Objective: To take first steps to implement pACP as a routine, structured intervention in pediatric hospitals with underserved Spanish speaking adolescents living with cancer through timely conversations with their families to relieve suffering (physical, psychological, spiritual) and maximize the quality of life
This project is a 6-8-years follow-up of a randomized controlled trial testing a stepped care stress management program. The main goal is to examining differences in long-term effects on cancer-related stress reactions and emotional reactivity between the intervention and control group. Secondary objectives is to investigate consequences of cancer and its' treatment over time, such as long term quality of life, objectively physical activity and experiences concerning follow-up and the transition from specialist health services to municipal health services.
