RATIONALE: Celecoxib may help relieve moderate or severe pain associated with cancer. It may also decrease weight loss and improve muscle strength in cancer patients. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying celecoxib to see how well it works in managing pain, weight loss, and weakness in patients with advanced cancer.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as capecitabine, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Giving capecitabine after surgery may kill any remaining tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well capecitabine works in treating patients who have undergone surgery for locally recurrent or persistenthead and neck cancer.
RATIONALE: A peripheral stem cell transplant may be able to replace blood-forming cells that were destroyed by chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Sometimes the transplanted cells from a donor can make an immune response against the body's normal cells. Giving total-body irradiation together with fludarabine, thiotepa, and antithymocyte globulin before transplant may stop this from happening. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well a donor stem cell transplant works in treating patients with acute myeloid leukemia in remission.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as liposomal SN-38, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well liposomal SN-38 works in treating patients with small cell lung cancer.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as arsenic trioxide and dexamethasone, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Thalidomide may stop the growth of multiple myeloma by blocking blood flow to the cancer. Giving arsenic trioxide together with ascorbic acid, dexamethasone, and thalidomide may kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving arsenic trioxide together with ascorbic acid, dexamethasone, and thalidomide work in treating patients with multiple myeloma.
In this randomised study, the migration of a specific cemented titanium femoral stem will be compared with a similar cemented cobalt-chromium stem using Roentgen stereogrammetric analysis (RSA). This study will enroll 120 individuals diagnosed with subarachnoid cysticercosis, a disease caused by the invasion of the basal part of your brain by a parasite named Taenia solium. Subarachnoid cysticercosis is usually treated with albendazole for one month to kill the parasite. This study will determine if two months of albendazole (ABZ) therapy is better than one-month. The study will last 3 years.

This study is to determine the maximum tolerated dose of external beam radiation to the para-aortic lymph nodes using intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). This protocol will test the hypothesis that the use of IMRT and amifostine will decrease GI toxicity and therefore allow the radiation dose to the para-aortic lymph nodes to be safely escalated.
