Prevention of Hazardous Use of Alcohol With Danish High School Students (Our Choice)

The trial 'Our Choice' examines the effect of two prevention interventions targeting school, parent, and student levels at Danish high schools. The interventions aim to reduce hazardous use of alcohol and related health outcomes among first-year students in Denmark (ages 15-18). The investigators hypothesizes that a structural intervention (school and parent levels) reduces hazardous alcohol use and related health outcomes compared to an assessment-only control group 12 months post baseline; and that adding group-based Motivational Interviewing (group MI) yields further improvements. Additionally, factors related to the implementation of the interventions are examined.

Therefore, the investigators are going to perform a retrospective analysis of patients with distal humerus fractures admitted to their hospital in 2012-2017 to compare the functional outcomes of elbow joints with tension-band fixation and plate fixation after olecranon osteotomy.

Clinical Outcomes and Radiation Safety After Endovascular Repair of Complex AAAs Using Fenestrated- Branched Devices

The purpose of this study is to assess the clinical outcomes and radiation of the use of off-the-shelf and custom-made devices (CMDs) for the endovascular repair of juxtarenal, suprarenal, thoracoabdominal and arch aortic aneurysms in patients having appropriate anatomy. The study consists of three cohorts. The first 2 cohorts are the continuation of the current IDE study. The first cohort is aimed to assess the use of custom-made devices (CMDs) for the endovascular repair of juxtarenal, suprarenal and type IV thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms in standard and high-risk patients having appropriate anatomy (Fenestrated-CMD cohort). The second cohort (Type I-III thoracoabdominal cohort) includes standard and high-risk patients with type I- III thoracoabdominal aneurysms that require the use of branched/fenestrated CMDs, or, in selected cases, the Zenith Thoracoabdominal Branch (Zenith® t-Branchâ„¢) device. Finally, the third cohort (the Arch cohort) will include 25 high-risk patients with aortic arch aneurysms treated by patient-specific stent-grafts with one to three inner branches or a scallop

By utilizing Near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), the local blood flow, tissue oxygenation (StO2), and recovery time of ischemic leg; can be determined. It is reasonable to standardize an easy, simple and safe Active Pedal Plantarflexion (APP) exercise test working load which can achieve the lowest StO2 and other parameters in ischemic leg through observation of NIRS. After standardized of an effective APP test, a determination of a new cutoff value of resting ABI in diagnosing PAD can probably be searched. Analysing the correlation of baPWV with ABI, atherosclerosis risk factors and parameters with atherosclerosis outcome. Observation the Sequential changes of baPWV, ABI and microalbuminuria after managing the atherosclerosis risks, and analyze their influence on the outcome of PAD, coronary artery disease(CAD) and cerebral vascular disease(CVA) outcomes.

Metallosis on Tissues and Serum Metal Levels in Children

Slightly elevated blood metal levels have been found in adults undergoing hip and knee replacement. It is unknown whether pediatric patients with metal implant(plates/screws/rods) have elevated blood metal levels. This may have an impact on practice if children have high blood metal levels with routine orthopedic implants. If researchers find elevated metal levels, they may recommend patients to have the plates removed or may switch to a different type of metal. Further work on this topic is needed.

Survive and Thrive Boa Vista Early Childhood Program

The proposed project will tackle the two most salient problems for children under 5 in Brazil: the continued high rates of neonatal mortality, and the large disparities in early childhood development. We propose to extend and scale up previously tested and validated home visiting programs to the city of Boa Vista in the north region of Brazil. The core intervention of the program will be home visits or group meetings to mothers and caregivers by trained child development agents. At the core of the program is a detailed curriculum, which contains gestation and age-specific topics of child health and development to be discussed with caregivers at each encounter.
