NCT ID: NCT06375668 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Osteoporosis, Postmenopausal

The Effect of the Probiotic Strains on Bone Mineral Density in Postmenopausal Women

Start date: March 15, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Osteoporosis is a systemic condition characterized by low bone mass and altered bone tissue microarchitecture, with the resulting greater bone fragility leading to fractures. Osteoporosis develops as a result of genetic and environmental factors, with the patient's lifestyle playing an important role. Recent years saw an emergence of reports on the significance of the intestinal microbiota in the development of osteoporosis, thus new ways of modifying the composition and activity of microbiota have been sought, and the potential role of probiotics has been considered. Probiotics are defined as live microorganisms, which-when administered at appropriate doses-are beneficial to the host's health. Probiotics both modify the gut microbiota composition and directly affect the human body. Recently published clinical studies demonstrated that probiotics may facilitate osteoporosis treatment and prevention. The current randomized double-blind placebo-controlled study will assess the effect of a dietary intervention via oral supplementation of Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus paracasei in a population of Polish postmenopausal women on their bone mineral density assessed via bone densitometry-derived T-scores of the lumbar segment of the spine (L1-L4). Study subjects will take the provided probiotic formulation/placebo orally once daily for 12 months.

NCT ID: NCT06148012 Active, not recruiting - Peri-Implantitis Clinical Trials

Investigation Of Marginal Bone Loss In Implants With Different Surface Properties And Geometric Designs: A Retrospective Clinical Study

Start date: April 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of surface characteristics and geometric design on marginal bone loss and bone quality in dental implants. Materials and Methods: A total of 378 implants from 114 patients were evaluated in this study using panoramic and periapical radiographs. Implants were categorized into 19 subgroups according to the jaw where they were placed, length, diameter, surface preparation, type of prosthetic superstructure, and neck design. Radiological evaluations were conducted based on radiographs obtained at the time of implant placement and 3 months after prosthetic loading. After obtaining measurements of marginal bone loss and fractal analysis data, the significance of differences between groups was statistically evaluated.

NCT ID: NCT05779566 Active, not recruiting - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Evaluation of the Functional/Emotional Life Characteristics of Ongoing EAT in BC Patients With Reduced BMD

REBECCA-OST
Start date: January 9, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Exploratory evaluation of the Functional/Emotional Life characteristics during the first year of ongoing endocrine adjuvant treatment with Aromatase Inhibitors in Breast Cancer patients (BCP) with reduced Bone Mineral Density (BMD)

NCT ID: NCT05735197 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Chronic Kidney Diseases

Effect of Dapagliflozin on Renal Outcomes and Bone Mineral Disease in Non-diabetic Chronic Kidney Disease Patients

Start date: November 10, 2022
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

It is a randomized controlled trial in which 100 non diabetic chronic kidney disease (CKD) patient is being participated. Their estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) between 25-75 ml/min/1.73 m2. Participants will be randomized into two groups: - Study group: includes 50 patients, they will receive Sodium glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitor (SGLT2i) as add on drug, Dapagliflozin 10 mg will be used once daily with or without food. - Control group: includes 50 patients, they will receive placebo their medication. The investigators will follow up all patients for 12 months and compare their results. This study aims to: 1. Assess SGLT2i role in delaying the progression of ongoing chronic kidney disease. 2. Study the impact of SGLT2i on bone and mineral metabolism in this patients' population.

NCT ID: NCT05405894 Active, not recruiting - Osteoporosis Clinical Trials

Efficacy of Zoledronic Acid to Prevent Bone Loss Following Denosumab Discontinuation

Start date: September 1, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This two-year observational, open-label clinical trial will evaluate the efficacy of a once-yearly infusion of zoledronic acid after denosumab discontinuation to maintain tissue mineral density and bone microarchitecture using high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) among post-menopausal women with osteoporosis.

NCT ID: NCT05348694 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Glucose Metabolism Disorders

OsteoPreP: Food Supplements for Postmenopausal Bone Health

OsteoPreP
Start date: May 1, 2022
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

To evaluate the effect of 12 months of supplementation with a probiotic (probiotic plus prebiotic; 2 capsules per day) on relative change (%) in total volumetric bone density (measured using high resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography [HR-pQCT]) of the distal tibia.

NCT ID: NCT05316272 Active, not recruiting - Osteoporosis Clinical Trials

Effects of DHEA and Exercise on Bone Marrow Fat in Postmenopausal Women

Start date: March 11, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Bone strength -the main determinant of bone fracture- is a function not only of bone mineral density (BMD) and microstructure, but also of its microenvironment, including bone marrow fat (BMF). The adrenal steroid dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) -the main precursor for estrogens and androgens in postmenopausal women- as well as bone-loading exercise, increase BMD in older women, however, their effects on BMF are largely unknown. This study has high potential to unveil the hormonal and mechanical effects of DHEA and exercise on BMF, respectively, and to elucidate longitudinal associations of BMF with bone strength in older women with bone loss.
