NCT ID: NCT00005298 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Inflammation, Autonomic Dysfunction and Airway Disease

Start date: July 1990
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To determine whether airway inflammation secondary to inhalation of specific allergens and other environmental agents and functional imbalance of the autonomic nervous system played important roles in asthma and chronic bronchitis.

NCT ID: NCT00005291 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Clinical Epidemiology of Asthma in An HMO

Start date: July 1988
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To provide information on morbidity and health care utilization for asthma for a large, well-defined population over a 20 year period.

NCT ID: NCT00005284 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Epidemiology of Airway Responsiveness

Start date: January 1985
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To prospectively identify factors that influence the rate of decline in pulmonary function and to identify predictors of chronic obstructive lung disease (COLD) and asthma in a population sample of older adults.

NCT ID: NCT00005283 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Risk Factors For Asthma in Laboratory Animal Allergy

Start date: July 1983
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To identify risk factors which predispose individuals to develop asthma and other manifestations of allergic disease on exposure to laboratory animals in the workplace.

NCT ID: NCT00005282 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Prospective Evaluation of Airways Reactivity

Start date: December 1981
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

From 1981 to 1991, to characterize the role of allergy and airways responsiveness in modifying growth of lung function in children and young adults in a community-based random population, the Childhood Respiratory Study in East Boston. From 1992 to 1997, to examine the relationship of respiratory symptoms and illnesses, cigarette smoking, airways responsiveness, and markers of inflammation to growth and decline in lung function in two well-characterized and investigated community-based populations of children and adults, the Childhood Respiratory Study in East Boston and the Normative Aging Study.

NCT ID: NCT00005281 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Early Risk Predictors For Chronic Pulmonary Disease

Start date: September 1977
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To continue to evaluate risk factors heretofore determined to be important predictors of chronic respiratory symptoms, diagnosis of asthma, and alterations in expected levels of lung function in children and adolescents in a new population of young adult women.

NCT ID: NCT00005279 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Tucson Epidemiology Study of Chronic Obstructive Lung Diseases

Start date: June 1971
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To determine the natural history, etiology, and interrelationships of emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, and related airways obstructive diseases. Also, to determine the relationship of acute lower respiratory tract illnesses in infants and children to the development of subsequent chronic lung disorders.

NCT ID: NCT00005262 Completed - Hypertension Clinical Trials

Epidemiology of Idiopathic Dilated Cardiomyopathy (Washington, DC Dilated Cardiomyopathy Study)

Start date: July 1990
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To identify risk factors for idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy and to examine prognostic factors over a follow-up period of two to three years.

NCT ID: NCT00005134 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Strong Heart Study

Start date: September 1988
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To determine morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease among American Indians and to compare cardiovascular disease risk factor levels among Indian groups living in different geographic areas.

NCT ID: NCT00005123 Completed - Hypertension Clinical Trials

Honolulu Heart Program

Start date: July 1965
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

To investigate coronary heart disease and stroke among American men of Japanese ancestry who were living on the island of Oahu in 1965. Morbidity and mortality surveillance of the original cohort is continuing.
