Super Skills for Life (SSL) is a transdiagnostic cognitive-behavioral protocol developed for children aged 6 to 12 with anxiety and comorbid problems (e.g., depression, low self-esteem, and lack of social skills). SSL consists of eight sessions targeting common risk factors for internalizing disorders such as cognitive distortions, avoidance, emotional management, low self-esteem, social skills deficits and coping strategies. The aim of the study is to investigate the short- and long-term effects of SSL on internalizing and externalizing symptoms in Spanish children attending the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.

Reducing Test Anxiety in High School Students

School-age test anxiety is an important risk factor for school performance. Notwithstanding, few studies seek to identify which strategies are effective in improving test anxiety. This study aimed to test whether a cognitive-behavioural intervention for high school students could significantly reduce test anxiety. A two-arm, cluster-randomized controlled, unblinded, parallel, trial was conducted. Participants were students of the 10th year of the Alves Martins High School in Viseu, Portugal. Students were randomized at class level to receive a cognitive-behavioural-based intervention combined with mindfulness, psychoeducation, and relaxation techniques, or to a control group with no intervention. Participants' anxiety levels were measured using the Test Anxiety Questionnaire. The analysis of the effect of the intervention was carried out on an intention-to-treat basis at the class level, using multilevel mixed effects models and Bayesian modelling.

The Effect of Imagery Technique on Self-Effectiveness-Efficacy and Anxiety Levels of Nursing Students

To determine the effect of the imagery technique used in the Nursing Fundamentals course on the self-effectiveness-efficacy and anxiety levels of students. This study was designed as a randomized controlled trial. The research was completed with a total of 85 students, 40 of which were in the intervention group and 45 in the control group. The imagery technique was applied to the intervention group once a week for 4 weeks before the laboratory practice lesson. This study are self-efficacy-sufficiecy and state and trait anxiety levels obtained from the questionnaire before and after the application. While there was no difference in the mean scores of self-efficacy-sufficiecy and trait anxiety of the students before and after the application of the imagery technique (p=0.515, p=0.456), it was determined that the mean score of state anxiety of the students in the intervention group decreased significantly after the application (p=0.044). Academic nurses should work on increasing self-efficacy and reducing the level of trait anxiety, in addition to the supportive imagery technique during training.

Surgical procedures and anesthesia applications are situations in which people do not feel safe due to the current vital risks. Anxiety is a natural reaction that occurs in such situations, it manifests itself with worry and fear. Increased anxiety before surgery is associated with pathophysiological responses such as hypertension and dysrhythmia. Intense preoperative anxiety can increase morbidity, the need for anesthetic medication, and postoperative analgesia. For this reason, many questionnaire studies have been conducted to measure the degree of preoperative anxiety and to reveal its causes. The Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS) test has two parts that measure anxiety and the need for information about anesthesia and surgery. The APAIS-A (anxiety) part is the test that measures strain and shows whether the patient has anxiety about anesthesia or surgery. The APAIS-I (information) part estimates whether the person needs information. In the literature, the effects of general and spinal anesthesia techniques on preoperative anxiety levels have been compared for some specific surgical methods such as c-sections and perianal region surgeries. However, no study has been reported between peripheral nerve block and general anesthesia techniques. This study aimed to determine the effects of regional and general anesthesia methods on preoperative anxiety levels and the factors affecting these scores in patients who will undergo upper extremity surgery.

This study is concerned with evaluating an innovative care delivery platform that is becoming widely available but has not been adequately evaluated in a clinical trial. Primarily, this study is concerned with whether text based care is clinically effective, and if that effect is a function of (1) intervention intensity, (2) timeliness and match of therapeutic recommendations and (3) more stable mood and function over time. Based on the existing, yet limited data in the field, there is evidence to suggest that more frequent encounters with a psychotherapist results in better treatment adherence and faster and more stable response to treatment.

Gamified App on Increasing Physical Activity and Reducing Anxiety in Autism

Background: Physical activity (PA) has an impact on physical and mental health in neurotypical populations, and addressing these variables may improve the prevalent burden of anxiety in adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Gamified mobile apps using behavior change techniques present a promising way of increasing PA and reducing sedentary time, thus reducing anxiety in adults with ASD. Objective: This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of a gamified and behavior change technique-based mobile app, PuzzleWalk, versus a commercially available app, Google Fit, on increasing PA and reducing sedentary time as an adjunct anxiety treatment for this population. Methods: A total of 24 adults with ASD were assigned to either the PuzzleWalk or Google Fit group for 5 weeks using a covariate-adaptive randomization design. PA and anxiety were assessed over 7 days at 3 different data collection periods (ie, baseline, intervention start, and intervention end) using triaxial accelerometers and the Beck Anxiety Inventory. Group differences in outcome variables were assessed using repeated-measures analysis of covariance, adjusting for age, sex, and BMI.
