Filter by:A prospective, multicenter, observational evaluation of the safety and efficacy of the FRED® device in the treatment of intracranial aneurysms.
The study aims to investigate the existence of a reliable correlation between the progression of aortic diameters and blood levels of circulant endothelial progenitor cells CD34+ in patients with not surgical aortic aneurysms.
Recently, the occurrence and potential impact of pituitary dysfunction after aSAH has gained increasing interest. Several studies have demonstrated pituitary dysfunction after SAH suggesting that pituitary dysfunction may be a contributing factor for residual symptoms after SAH. This is an observational multicentric study aimed to test the prevalence of thyroid abnormalities, other neuroendocrinological dysfunction and their influence on outcome of patients affected by aSAH.
Intracranial artery disease has been more detected with development of HR-MR. HR-MR can depict vascular wall directly and give us more information beyond the pre-existing imaging modalities such as digital subtraction angiography, magnetic resonance angiography, computed tomography angiography. Hence, HR-MR is considered to become promising imaging modality for intracranial artery disease and many studies have been published recently. However, there was not enough to differentiate various intracranial artery disease such as atherosclerosis, dissection, moyamoya disease, vasculitis, reversible vasoconstriction syndrome. In real clinical arena, intracranial artery disease is too difficult to diagnose and distinguish among the disease. Of the disease, usefulness of HR-MR has been consistently published in the detection and diagnosis of intracranial artery dissection recently. HR-MR seems to be the most important and reliable imaging method in intracranial artery dissection as of now. Therefore, intracranial artery dissection is necessary to study using HR-MR. Intracranial artery dissection is dynamic vascular pathology. The geometric change is the most common among intracranial artery disease. However, there was no report about the geometric change in HR-MR. The investigators acquired retrospective data about the natural course of intracranial artery dissection in HR-MR and are preparing for publishing an article. However, the data is not prospective and not intraindividual comparison. Therefore, reliability is not enough to convince the natural course. If the investigators got prospective and intraindividual data, definite natural course of intracranial artery dissection could be acquired and would be helpful to diagnose the dissection and differentiate from other vascular pathologies. The prospective longitudinal information from this study could guide us as the important map on the confusing HR-MR findings. The protocols for imaging are as follows: initial (optional), 1 month, 3 month, 6 month (optional), 12 month.
The First In Human (FIH) study is a long-term, single center, non-randomized study established by Lombard Medical, Inc. to collect "on-label" data in the clinical setting on patients undergoing endovascular repair with IntelliFlex™, the latest generation of the Aorfix™ AAA Flexible Stent Graft Delivery System, for treatment of abdominal aortic and aorto-iliac aneurysms in anatomy where the aorta in the aneurysm neck is bent through an angle between 0° and 90°.
This trial is conducted to evaluate the safety and technical effectiveness of using NCVC-CS1, a newly developed honeycomb microporous covered stent, for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms which are difficult to be cured by conventional surgical or endovascular procedures.
This is a randomized prospective monocentric study to evaluate the benefits of a 3D rotational acquisition (3DRA) to assess technical success after treatment of infra-renal aneurysm with bifurcated endograft. Patients will be randomized between the standard strategy (2D angiography at the end of the procedure and angioCT-scan before discharge) and the new strategy (3DRA at the end of the procedure). Expected findings are a reduction of radiation exposure and contrast medium used during the hospital stay, with a similar resolution between angioCT-scan and 3DRA to depict the main complications after EVAR (occlusion, kinking, endoleak). Furthermore, any complication depicted after 3DRA group could benefit from an additional procedure during the same operating time, and therefore avoid a second intervention for the patient.
Sub Arachnoid Hemorrhage (SAH) is a public health concern because of its high incidence (7/100 000 inhab.), its mortality rate (25%), and its morbidity rate (50%).
This study aims to compare the results of two mini invasive surgical approaches in abdominal aortic surgery: mini lumbotomy with retroperitoneal approach versus mini laparotomy with transperitoneal approach. Respiratory and renal functions and recovery of intestinal transit will be assessed after 30 days. The secondary purpose of this study is to assess the life quality and morbi-mortality at 30 days, as well as at 6 and 12 months.
Vitamin D has been shown to impact prognosis in a variety of retrospective and randomized clinical trials within an intensive care unit (ICU) environment. Despite these findings, there have been no studies examining the impact of hypovitaminosis D in specialized neurocritical care units (NCCU). Given the often significant differences in the management of patients in NCCU and more generalized intensive care units there is a need for further inquiries into the impact of low vitamin D levels in this specific environment. This study proposes a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, single center evaluation of vitamin D supplementation in the emergent NCCU patient population. The primary outcome will involve length-of-stay for emergent neurocritical care patients. Various secondary outcomes, including in-hospital mortality, ICU length-of-stay, Glasgow Outcome Score on discharge, complications and quality-of-life metrics. Patients will be followed for 6 months post-discharge.
