NCT ID: NCT06244654 Recruiting - Anxiety Clinical Trials

Anxiolytic Effectiveness of Virtual Reality Glasses in Surgery

Start date: January 25, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Regional anesthesia allows surgery without affecting the patient's level of consciousness. However, this may cause anxiety in some patients. In previous research, scientists have tried to prevent anxiety with non-pharmacological interventions such as music and cognitive therapies.Virtual reality is thought to offer an immersive experience that can alter the mind's perception of pain. Scientists have found in previous preliminary studies that virtual reality is safe and effective as an adjunct to standard sedative/analgesic protocols for reducing patients' pain and anxiety during endoscopy, colonoscopy, dental treatments, burn dressings, and labor. In this study, it is expected that anxiety scores, postoperative analgesic need and intraoperative sedation need will decrease, recovery quality will improve and patient satisfaction will increase in patients who will undergo upper extremity surgery under regional anesthesia and watch videos through VR glasses.

NCT ID: NCT06225037 Recruiting - Anesthesia Clinical Trials

EEG-guided Propofol Sedation Versus Standard Care for Oesophagogastroduodenoscopy and Colonoscopy in Children

EPOC
Start date: December 15, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to compare electroencephalogram (EEG) guided propofol sedation versus standard care in paediatric patients aged 6-16 undergoing oesophagogastroduodenoscopy and colonoscopy. The main questions it aims to answer are whether EEG guided propofol sedation will result in: - faster wake up time - reduced time to discharge - reduced cumulative propofol dosage - lower incidence of intraoperative adverse events - no difference in intraoperative undesirable movement - lower incidence and severity of emergence delirium - lower intraoperative depth of sedation Participants will wear an EEG sensor (Sedline) prior to undergoing propofol sedation until they wake up post procedure.

NCT ID: NCT06220942 Recruiting - Anesthesia Clinical Trials

Tachycardia as an Indication for Prophylactic Phenylephrine Injection in Caesarean Section Under Spinal Anesthesia; an Observational Study

Start date: October 5, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The value of phenylephrine administration in response to tachycardia in preventing hypotension after spinal anesthesia in elective cesarean section.

NCT ID: NCT06209437 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Coronary Artery Disease

Anesthesia Management of Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery and Inflammatory Biomarkers

Start date: January 8, 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of this observational study is to evaluate effect of total intravenous anesthesia or inhalation anesthesia on inflammatory biomarkers in coronary artery bypass surgery and their relationship with early postoperative complications. The main questions it aims to answer are - Does the type of anesthesia have a relationship with inflammatory biomarkers? - Are inflammatory biomarkers associated with postoperative complications?

NCT ID: NCT06208774 Recruiting - Anesthesia Clinical Trials

Pericapsular Nerve Group Block vs Interscalene Block for Shoulder Arthroscopy

Start date: December 20, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to compare PENG block and LV-ISBP block in the incidence of phrenic nerve block, duration of postoperative analgesia, time to first analgesic request (VAS > 30 mm), pain scores, and side effects.

NCT ID: NCT06189287 Recruiting - Surgery Clinical Trials

Ethics and Research in Anaesthesia

Anesth_ethic
Start date: March 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Under the impetus of governing bodies, learned societies, hospital management, CPPs, etc., clinical research has developed and structured considerably, in order to provide the medical community and patients with the most appropriate care, and to formulate recommendations. In anesthesia, clinical research evaluates drugs, medical devices or care pathways. However, the general public's perception of this research in our specialty remains confidential. Several studies carried out in oncology have shown limited interest in research on the part of the general public and patients, and more often than not a lack of awareness of ethical laws and the role of french ethics committee (CPP). By means of an anonymous questionnaire handed out at the anesthesia consultation, the investigators would like to assess patients' level of knowledge of clinical research in anesthesia, and find out how they feel about the possibility of being included in a trial.

NCT ID: NCT06188156 Recruiting - Anesthesia Clinical Trials

Analgesic Efficacy of Ultrasound Guided Serratus Anterior Plane Block and Pectoral Nerve Block II

Start date: February 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Modified Radical Mastectomy accounts for 31% of all breast surgeries and considered the fundamental surgical management for breast cancer. Nearly 40-60% of patients experience severe acute postoperative pain. This pain might persist for 6-12 months and result in post-mastectomy pain syndrome and complex regional pain syndrome (causalgia)

NCT ID: NCT06184958 Recruiting - Anesthesia Clinical Trials

Potential Role of Intravenous Lidocaine Versus Intravenous Ketamine for Pain Management in Fibromyalgia Patients

Start date: September 2, 2023
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the study is to assess the efficacy of intravenous lidocaine versus intravenous ketamine in treatment of fibromyalgia patients.

NCT ID: NCT06179719 Recruiting - Anesthesia Clinical Trials

EEG-fMRI Experiments During Anesthesia Induction With Propofol

Start date: September 10, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This observational study aims to investigate healthy cortical and subcortical neural processes involved in generating intrinsic alpha oscillations during induction of general anesthesia with propofol. To do this, the investigators have designed a simultaneous electroencephalogram (EEG)- MRI (functional MRI and Spectroscopy) experiment with a visual stimulation paradigm that addresses the subject's specific intrinsic alpha rhythm during anesthesia and wakefulness. The main question it aims to answer is: could the investigators address the alpha oscillation system of the healthy brain with external stimulation during anesthesia? This experiment could lead to a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying the generation of alpha oscillations. It could open new doors to diagnostic and treatment options for diseases where alpha oscillations, such as post-operative delirium, seem to be affected.

NCT ID: NCT06168903 Recruiting - Anesthesia Clinical Trials

EOI Block Versus ESP Block in Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery

Start date: December 5, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to compare a single shot of bilateral ultrasound-guided EOI block and ESPB in terms of intraoperative opioid consumption, postoperative pain control in the first 24 hours, and the need for rescue analgesics.
