Filter by:The aim of this randomized, waitlist controlled trial is to examine the efficacy of the Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT©) in reducing psychological distress (i.e., stress, anxiety and depression) and burnout symptoms while improving psychological well-being medical students. The second goal of the study is to examine whether mindfulness and compassion-related variables as well as emotional-cognitive emotional regulation processes mediate the psychological distress and well-being changes. The effects of the CCT© program will be measured by means of self-report questionnaires involving different domains (mindfulness, compassion, distress, and well-being measures) at different time points (pre-intervention, inter-session assessment, post-intervention, 2-month and 6-month follow-up).
The study aims to investigate the effects of Cognitive Behavioural therapy intervention on sleep and it's effects on well-being, dietary intake and food preferences during COVID-19. The study will investigate whether delivery of a CBT intervention will lead to an improvement in sleep quality and sleep duration and will consequently improve metabolic health. The participants will be randomized into two groups with one half in the intervention arm and the other in the control arm of the study.
This study examines (1) the extent and intensity of physical activity among women in different phases of their pregnancy and (2) the relationship between patterns of physical activity in pregnancy and well-being.
This study is a randomized controlled trial (RCT) of the four-week Healthy Minds Program (HMP) app Foundations training in employees of a mid-size urban school district in the United States during the summer of 2020, in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic. A 3-month follow-up in the fall of 2020 will also be conducted. Participants will be recruited via email and mailed postcards, and will first complete an online screen. Eligible participants will then enter a waiting zone for between 2-days and 2-weeks before they are sent the online pre-test. Upon completion of the pre-test, participants will be assigned to condition via a simple random number generator. If assigned to the intervention (i.e., the Healthy Minds Program App), participants will receive instructions and support in downloading and activating the app. Every 7-days over the 4-week intervention period participants in both conditions will complete the same set of measures. A full battery of measures will be administered a second time post-test, following the 4-week intervention period. Three-months after post-test, a follow-up assessment will be conducted. The investigators predict that participants assigned to the intervention will demonstrate significantly reduced psychological distress after the intervention, and these decreases will persist at the 3-month follow-up. Further, it is hypothesized that baseline participant characteristics and early experience of the intervention will predict treatment adherence, study drop-out and outcomes, and that treatment engagement will moderate outcomes.
This interventional study will investigate the effect of daily use of a mindfulness app on measures of participant anxiety, well-being, and future outlook during the Covid-19 pandemic, by comparing pre-intervention survey responses to post-intervention survey responses.

Different theories which claims the psychological improvements resulting from the increased levels of physical activity have also been proposed in the literature.Regular aerobic exercise and walking can not only improve the emotional state of the individuals, but may also affect the mental health by avoiding the negative thoughts and adapting to stress. The aim of this study is to increase the physical activity level, psychological condition and physical well-being with video-based exercises.
This study seeks to investigate the effects of an online single-session intervention on college student mental health and well-being. Undergraduate students from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard will be randomized to a 30-minute single-session intervention or a study skills control group. Students' depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, positive and negative affect, and subjective well-being will be assessed up to 12 weeks post-intervention.
People with schizophrenia are faced with social problems such as repeated hospitalizations, stigma with lack of social skills, unemployment, lack of necessary and adequate health care and education due to lack of adequate care in the community they live in. It is known that psychoeducation practices aimed at developing social skills in schizophrenia give patients new skills and these skills continue for many years. This study aimed to determine the effect of group psychoeducation that focused on social skill development on treatment adaptation, quality of life and well-being in schizophrenia patients and the interaction between these variables over time.
The current project's overall aim is to develop and evaluate the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of an ACT intervention to promote psychological well-being and mitigate the deleterious effects of shame and self-stigma in people experiencing homelessness. This project will advance current knowledge using systematic and empirical methodology to develop and evaluate the benefits of a group-based ACT intervention, which to date has not been explored with this population.
There is no single definition of well-being, but consensus exists that positive functioning beyond the absence of detrimental mental health symptoms is central. Building on related "eudaimonic" frameworks of psychological flourishing that identify qualities like environmental mastery, positive relations with others, and personal growth, this study targets brain-based skills that underlie the active cultivation of such qualities (e.g., regulating attention, empathic care, mental flexibility), and thus offers straightforward hypotheses about mechanisms of change. The Healthy Minds Program (HMP) is designed to promote and protect psychological well-being through sustainable skills training. The program is grounded in constituents of psychological well-being identified in empirical literature. HMP provides core content, with instruction administered through a curriculum of high-quality guided practices. HMP is based on research on eudaimonic well-being (e.g., environmental mastery, purpose) and brain-based skills that underlie these qualities (e.g., regulation of attention, mental flexibility). HMP practices address 4 constituents of well-being: awareness, connection, insight, and purpose. This pilot focuses on awareness, connection, and insight.
