Effects of Single Dose Tadalafil on Urethral and Anal Closure Function

The purpose of the trial is to assess the effect of tadalafil compared to placebo (inactive comparator) on the urethral - and anal pressure and on urine flow in healthy females. Further, the purpose of the trial is to evaluate the potential for going forward with studies of tadalafil in patients suffering from urine or fecal incontinence.

Differences in the Effectiveness of Electromagnetic Stimulation Therapy and Kegel Exercises Based on Compliance, Subjective - Objective Symptoms and Pelvic Floor Muscle Strength in Postpartum Stress Urinary Incontinence

Electromagnetic stimulation is a new modality and alternative in women with urinary incontinence (UI). However, there was not much evidence that compares the use of electromagnetic stimulation to Kegel Exercises in post-partum stress urinary incontinence (SUI). We evaluate the compliance rate, effectiveness (UDI-6 and 1-hour pad test), and pelvic muscle strength of electromagnetic stimulation on stress urinary incontinence compared with Kegel pelvic floor muscle exercises in post-partum women as conservative therapy. This study was a single-blind randomized trial in postpartum women diagnosed with stress urinary incontinence who came to YPK Mandiri Hospital. We recruited 40 Patients and were randomized into two groups, the electromagnetic stimulation (n=20) and Kegel exercises (n=20). The electromagnetic stimulation procedure was done three times a week for five weeks, and the Kegel exercises group will be instructed to do the exercises every day for eight weeks. Our primary objective is to measure compliance, symptom reduction (using the UDI-6 questionnaire and the 1-hour pad test), and pelvic floor muscle strength.

Tension Free Vaginal Tape Surgery - Follow up After 10 and 20 Years

Over the past 5-7 years there has been increasing concern about the use of polypropylene tapes in female incontinence surgery. There has been a special focus on pain in the vagina and lower abdomen and pain during sexual intercourse. Some have also asked if the polypropylene tape could cause impairment of the immune system leading to allergy, connective tissue disorders etc. There are still only a few publications on complications after sling surgery. In Norway it is mandatory to register all incontinence surgery in the National incontinence registry (Norsk Kvinnelig Inkontinens Register (NKIR). In 2019 >99 % of all procedures were registered in this registry. Data about type and severity of incontinence are registered, as well as complications at surgery. The same data are entered at a 6 months and 3 years follow up. Data for the follow up visits are not complete. The NKIR registry and other similar registries have been criticized for not following the women long enough and therefore missing important information regarding long-term complications. Few studies have followed the women for a longer time after surgery. The main aim of this study is to find the prevalence of women still satisfied with the TVT surgery and the prevalence of long-term complications after 10 and 20 years.

Comparison of the Effectiveness of Different Conservative Treatment Protocols in Postprostatectomy Urinary Incontinence

The main purpose of this study is to reveal the effectiveness of the Knack maneuver and lifestyle recommendations program to be given in addition to the pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) program, which has been proven to be effective in individuals with urinary incontinence symptoms after prostatectomy. This study is a prospective, controlled, randomized clinical trial. The study includes an 8-week pelvic floor muscle training, Knack maneuver and lifestyle recommendations. In summary, it is stated in the literature that PFMT and lifestyle recommendations are beneficial in the treatment of urinary incontinence (UI). However, although there is evidence of the effectiveness of the Knack maneuver in stress UI in women, there is no evidence of the Knack maneuver in urinary incontinence after prostatectomy. On the other hand, the literature on the effect of lifestyle recommendations after prostatectomy is very limited. Therefore, the aim of this study is to reveal the effectiveness of the Knack maneuver and lifestyle recommendations program, which will be given in addition to the PFMT program, which has been demonstrated in individuals with UI complaints after radical prostatectomy, in a randomized controlled design.
