Outcomes Associated With Suicidality in Inpatients With Symptoms of Depression (OASIS-D)

OASIS-D
Start date: August 1, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This 6-month, naturalistic cohort study examines male and female inpatients aged 18 to 75 years i) with any form of unipolar depressive episode (cohort 1); ii) clinical diagnosis of a moderate or severe unipolar depressive episode and suicidal tendencies who agree to participate in a prospective study (cohort 2); and moderate or severe unipolar depressive episodes validated by research interviews and and suicidal tendencies that persist for at least 48 hours after admission who are followed up for 6 months (cohort 3).

NCT ID: NCT04159207 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Major Depressive Disorder

A Longitudinal Study of Inflammatory Pathways in Depression

Start date: October 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Suicide accounts for at least 1 million deaths globally each year. This is likely a significant underestimate, because suicide is under-reported in many countries. In the US, over 42,000 people die from suicide annually. Despite increased focus on identification and treatment, the rate of suicide has increased steadily over the past 15 years. Our project aims both to improve our understanding of factors that increase the risk for suicide by comparing blood biomarkers associated with inflammation in patients with depression without suicidal behavior and patients with depression and suicidal behavior. The 160 individuals in this study will be followed with psychiatric assessments and blood samples at repeated time points over one year.

NCT ID: NCT04085848 Recruiting - Suicidal Ideation Clinical Trials

Music Against Psychological Pain in Suicide

Phase: N/A

NCT ID: NCT03950765 Recruiting - Suicide, Attempted Clinical Trials

Real-time Intervention for Suicide Risk Reduction

Start date: July 29, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this study is to provide an initial pilot test of an Ecological Momentary Intervention (EMI) designed the reduce the distress associated with negative emotion among individuals at risk for suicide that pairs content from a smartphone with a wearable physiological monitor. Participants will be 25 suicidal adult inpatients who will complete three brief therapy sessions with a study therapist and then complete exercises associated with the study for the duration of the inpatient period and for 28 days after they leave the hospital.

NCT ID: NCT03846375 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Borderline Personality Disorder

Emotional Dysregulation in Para-suicidal Behavior

Start date: January 15, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a naturalistic cohort pre-post study investigating aspects of emotional processing and how possible changes in emotional processing is related to the successful treatment of non-suicidal self-injury and suicidal ideation in a program of Dialectical Behavior Therapy. In addition we wish to identify to what extent the intensity and frequency of non-suicidal self-injury and suicidal ideation is related to difficulty in emotion regulation, as indicated by self-report measures and psychophysiological measures.

NCT ID: NCT03793699 Recruiting - Attempted Suicide Clinical Trials

Evaluation of the Links Between Sleep Disorders and the Risk of Suicide Attempt

HYPNOS
Start date: February 4, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Several studies have demonstrated an association between sleep disorders such as insomnia and nightmares to suicidal ideations and behaviors. Nevertheless, some of these studies are methodologically questionable especially in the exploration of sleep disorders. Furthermore, confounding factors such as depressive symptomatology are not controlled and the measurement of suicidal behavior has often been taken into account as a historical measure, not as a current event, which introduces uncertainties and a lack of precision regarding the temporality of the phenomena. Today, while the links between sleep disorders and suicidal risk are well known, we have a lack of information on the importance and the role of sleep disorders as a precipitating factor. Indeed, few studies have evaluated the temporal link between sleep disorders and suicidal acts. The objective of this study is to evaluate the links between acute and chronic sleep disorders and the risk of suicide attempt

NCT ID: NCT03538197 Recruiting - Suicide Clinical Trials

Suicide Re Attempts in Young Adults After First Suicide Attempt : Socio-demographic, Clinical and Biological Correlates

SURAYA
Start date: May 22, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Suicide is the second leading cause of death among people aged 15 to 24 (WHO, 2014). After a first suicide attempt, the 18 to 25 years old would be very likely to repeat the act: 25 to 31% would make a new attempt in the following year (Christiansen et al, 2007). Nevertheless the literature on this subject is not detailed. In this project, we hypothesize that young adults aged 18 to 25 who have made their first suicide attempt will repeat their act more frequently than younger or older populations. In addition, these young people would have identifiable risk factors (sociodemographic, clinical and biological) that differ from young people who do not enter this phenomenon. Our main objective is to measure the rate of suicidal reiteration in a population of young adults aged 18 to 25 years. Our secondary objectives are to identify sociodemographic, clinical and biological characteristics of a population of suicidal re attempt young people, to highlight potential risk factors

NCT ID: NCT03488602 Recruiting - Suicide Clinical Trials

Focused Suicide Prevention Strategy for Youth

FSPS
Start date: March 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study evaluates whether a Family-centered suicide prevention strategy, when added to usual care (F-SPS + UC), is more effective than enhanced usual care (EUC) in reducing suicide-related behaviors in 128 youth at high-risk of suicide. Half of the participants will be randomized to receive F-SPS + UC and half will receive EUC.
