NCT ID: NCT02360904 Completed - Fatigue Clinical Trials

A Yoga Program for Breast Cancer Patients Undergoing Chemotherapy

Start date: April 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The primary aim of this study is to assess and compare change in QOL during chemotherapy as measured by the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast (FACT-Breast) score between patients receiving yoga and those not receiving yoga. Secondary endpoints will include other measures of QOL such as sleep quality measured with the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Inventory (PSQI), anxiety and depression using Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), and adherence to yoga and to chemotherapy treatment.

NCT ID: NCT02194036 Completed - Depression Clinical Trials

Learning Oriented Physiotherapy - a New Approach

LOF
Start date: August 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Outpatients that suffer from different anxiety disorders may have physical ailments that negatively affect daily life functioning and quality of life. LOF is a physical therapy approach focusing on the link between bodily and mental balance and through defined, but simple movements, patients are expected to learn how to cope and reduce health complaints. This study aims to investigate the short- and longterm effect of LOF compared to other standardized psychiatric treatments given in the clinic on levels of anxiety and depression, health related function and quality of life.

NCT ID: NCT01942733 Completed - Sleep Disturbances Clinical Trials

Study of Brexpiprazole as Adjunctive Treatment of Sleep Disturbances in Patients With Major Depressive Disorder

Start date: September 2013
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

To assess effects of brexpiprazole on sleep patterns of depressed patients with sleep disturbances.

NCT ID: NCT01855126 Completed - Sleep Disturbances Clinical Trials

Individually Tailored Lighting System to Improve Sleep in Older Adults

Start date: March 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In conjunction with investigators at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research, University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill, we propose to develop and evaluate a low-cost, minimally obtrusive device that delivers individualized light therapy to adults with early-awakening insomnia - the most common sleep disturbance in older adults, and a significant problem because of its relationship to daytime sleepiness, use of potentially hazardous sleep medication, and reduced quality of life. The proposed device will measure light/dark exposure data over 24 hours, estimate optimum timing for light delivery, and deliver an individualized light dosage while subjects are asleep. Light applied through closed eyelids in the early part of the night will delay the dim light melatonin onset, a marker of the circadian clock, and help those with early sleep onset to fall asleep later

NCT ID: NCT01442610 Completed - Sleep Disturbances Clinical Trials

Effects of Rasagiline on Sleep Disturbances in Parkinson's Disease

RaSPar
Start date: October 2011
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

As the MAO-B inhibitor rasagiline is able to improve motor skills it might have positive effects on sleep disruption by reducing nocturnal akinesia. As it was reported to cause only minor sleep disruption in PD Patients, it might be able to improve sleep architecture. The investigators thus study the effects of Rasagiline on sleep disturbances measured by polysomnographic (PSG) evaluation of sleep efficacy and PDSS-2. Secondary measures are other sleep variables measured by PSG, sleep quality and daytime sleepiness assessed by standardized scales as well as cognitive function, depression and QoL index.

NCT ID: NCT01429636 Completed - Hot Flashes Clinical Trials

Applied Relaxation (AR) Technique Versus Its Modified Version for Treating Menopausal Symptoms

Start date: August 2011
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate better efficacy and effectiveness of modified applied relaxation technique over its original version for treating menopausal symptoms.

NCT ID: NCT01311193 Completed - Depression Clinical Trials

Circadian Sleep-wake Cycles and Light Therapy in Borderline Personality Disorder

Start date: n/a
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD) frequently suffer from emotional instability, daytime fatigue and sleep disturbances. The investigators examined circadian rhythms, sleep and well-being in women with BPD under their habitual life conditions with and without light treatment. Treated women diagnosed with BPD were investigated during 3 weeks without and 3 weeks with morning LT. Rest-activity cycles were continuously measured using wrist actigraphy, together with proximal skin temperature. Saliva samples were collected weekly to determine the diurnal melatonin rhythm. A range of self-ratings and questionnaires were used to assess depression and clinical state throughout the 6-week protocol. Ten matched healthy women followed the same 6-week protocol without light treatment.
