Comparison of Swiss Versus Standard Low Back Acupuncture in Patients With Chronic Low Back Pain

Comparison of Swiss Versus Standard Low Back Acupuncture in Patients With Chronic Low Back Pain. A Randomized, Controlled, Single-blind, Monocentric Clinical Study

Low back pain (LBP) is very common, widespread, and represents a multidimensional syndrome. It affects physical activity and function, health-related quality of life, and employment status. The lifetime prevalence of acute low back pain is approximately 80%. The prevalence of chronic low back pain (CLBP) in the general population is reported to be 8% to 21%. Several clinical trials have provided evidence to support the efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of LBP, however, the optimal acupuncture treatment for CLBP has not been extensively studied.

Acupuncture in Myasthenia Gravis (AcuMG)

Acupuncture Treatment for Individuals With Myasthenia Gravis

The purpose of the study is to determine the effect acupuncture treatment on individuals with a diagnosis of Myasthenia Gravis (MG). A total of 20 people with MG will be enrolled in this study to receive acupuncture treatment 2 times a week for 12 weeks. Participants will be randomized into two groups: 1) Immediate start and 2) Delayed start (12 weeks). The delayed start group will act as a control group for the first 12 weeks, but then receive acupuncture treatment for 12 weeks. It is hypothesized that patients with MG who receive acupuncture treatment will have improved quality of life and activities of daily living compared to no treatment.

Pilot Study of Warm Acupuncture in Treatment of Cold-sensitive Fibromyalgia Syndrome

Clinical Study on Efficacy and Safety of Warm Acupuncture in Treatment of Cold-sensitive Fibromyalgia Syndrome

Non-pharmaceutical therapies, such as acupuncture, hydrotherapy, and meditative exercises (such as Qigong (including Tai Chi and Ba-Duan-Jin), have been shown to reduce pain and improve physical function. The management recommendations of fibromyalgia issued by the European Union, Canada, Germany and Israel have all affirmed the "first-line" role of Non-pharmaceutical therapy. Because of its good efficacy and safety, acupuncture therapy has been recommended in the management guidelines and has broad application prospects. Warm acupuncture is a therapy combining acupuncture and moxibustion, which is widely used in the treatment of various painful diseases in China, especially for cold-sensitive patients . This study aims to observe the safety and effectiveness of warm acupuncture in the treatment of cold-sensitive fibromyalgia patients, in order to provide a more alternative non-drug therapy for this particular type of patients with fibromyalgia .

Evaluation on the Effect of Acupuncture and Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation on Mechanical Ventilation Patients

Evaluation on the Effect of Acupuncture and Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation on Mechanical Ventilation Patients

Acupuncture is a treatment intervention used globally for a wide variety of disorders. Its efficacy has been established over the course of 3000 years, originating in Asia and diversifying worldwide. The scientific basis for acupuncture remains unclear. Nonetheless, acupuncture releases neurochemical substrates, such as endorphins, serotonin, and norepinephrine.Acupuncture is considered to be a safe treatment when applied by a certified acupuncturist.Acupuncture has already been deployed in the treatment of sepsis or muscle weakness.Studies have revealed that acupuncture significantly improved grip strength and respiratory muscle strength in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease participates.Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) is an alternative to mobilize and exercise because it does not require active patient participation and can be used on bedridden patients. The investigators designed a study to compare the effects of acupuncture, electroacupuncture, and neuromuscular electrical stimulation on mechanical ventilation patients with weaning difficulties

Investigate the Change in Facial Pain Threshold During Auricular Acupuncture in Healthy Volunteers

Investigate the Change in Facial Pain Threshold During Auricular Acupuncture in Healthy Volunteers: A Pilot Study

Background: The effects and biological mechanisms of auricular acupuncture on the human body have been increasingly observed in clinical and experimental studies, particularly the analgesic effects. Auricular acupuncture in the Shenmen, Nervous Subcortex, Jaw and Tooth groups has been shown in the Acupuncture 2 textbook of the Faculty of Traditional Medicine - University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City and clinical studies to be effective in reducing facial pain. This study aims to examine: (1) the change in facial pain threshold when performing auricular acupuncture in the acupoints of Shenmen (TF4), Nervous Subcortex (AT4), Jaw (LO3) and Tooth (LO1) on the left ear, (2) the change in facial pain threshold when performing auricular acupuncture in the acupoints of Shenmen, Nervous Subcortex, Jaw and Tooth on the right ear and (3) examining the unfavorable effects of the procedure.

Alterations in Bioelectric Activity at Acupuncture Points Following CV4 Cranial Manipulation

Alterations in Bioelectric Activity at Acupuncture Jing-Well (Ting) Points Following CV4 Cranial Manipulation

By measuring specific electrical parameters at acupuncture points that have been shown to correlate with ANS activity, the objectives of this study were to: 1) determine if CV4 has any influence on the bioelectric properties of the acupuncture meridian system, and 2) determine if CV4 affects the ANS.

Skin Surface's Temperature Change When Auricular Acupuncture at Jaw Point and Tooth Point

Survey on Skin Surface's Temperature Change When Auricular Acupuncture at Jaw Point (LO1) and Tooth Point (LO3) on Heatlhy Volunteer: a Pilot Study

Auricular acupuncture is a method for diagnosing and treating physical and psychosomatic dysfunctions by stimulating a specific point in the ear. Some studies prove that the acupoints on the pinna have a corresponding relationship to the areas of the body. Some research also show that acupuncture acupoints on the body can change the temperature of the corresponding area. In our study, we survey the skin surface's temperature change when using auricular acupuncture at jaw point and tooth point in each side of the ear in heatlhy people.
