The CATCH Prostate Cancer Trial: Cabazitaxel And Tasquinimod in Men With Castration-Resistant Heavily Pre-treated Prostate Cancer
The standard of care for men with metastatic CRPC in 2010 following progression on docetaxel is cabazitaxel or abiraterone acetate/prednisone. Based on results from two other studies, cabazitaxel and prednisone has become a standard second line chemotherapy regimen and becomes the backbone upon which to improve upon. Thus, the primary objective of this study is to determine the recommended dose of tasquinimod in combination with cabazitaxel and prednisone based on safety and tolerability in men with chemorefractory metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC).

Prostate Cancer Prevention Clinic for Men With Risk of Familial Prostate Cancer
Secondary prevention of prostate cancer (PCa) is not standardized and high-risk groups at the time of diagnosis are not well defined. Hereditary susceptibility which is reported in about 10% of men is one important risk factor for PCa development but the absolute risk and clinical importance is fairly unknown. The population risk for developing PCa is estimated to be 11%. If men carry a mutation in BRCA2 or HOXB13, the lifetime risk is 2 to 10-fold increased. "ProFam-Risk" is a prospective cohort analysis not only to validate the known genetic risk scores but also to establish recommendations for follow of high risk populations based on a combination of clinical parameters, imaging (magnetic resonance imaging of the prostate), and genetic profile. Aim of this individualized recommendation is on the one hand to early detect PCa before developing of advanced disease and on the other hand to counsel men at low risk in order to prevent overdiagnosis and overtreatment. Overall, "ProFam-Risk" aims to create a best possible counseling and clinical care for men with familial risk to develop PCa. In this pilot study, about 100 men per year will be included for a total period of 3 years. In addition to the registration of clinical, imaging, and genetic information, liquids and tissue (if available) will be sampled for analysis in the above mentioned research questions.

Clinical Trial of a Rapidly Cycling, Non-Cross Reactive Regimen of Approved Therapeutic Agents to Treat Prostate Cancer
The purpose of this study is to determine the clinical benefits of using a rapidly cycling, non-cross reactive regimen of FDA-approved prostate cancer therapeutic agents in the management of castration resistant prostate cancer. The hypothesis is that the identification of optimal combinations and sequencing of therapies can help prevent or delay the development of therapeutic drug resistance, and can be safely tolerated.

Phase I Multiple Dose Pharmacokinetic Study of Lycopene Delivered in a Well-Defined Food-Based Lycopene Delivery System (Tomato Paste-Oil Mixture) in Patients at Increased Risk for Developing Prostate Cancer
RATIONALE: Chemoprevention is the use of certain drugs or substances to keep cancer from forming, growing, or coming back. The use of lycopene, a substance found in tomatoes, may keep prostate cancer from forming in patients at high risk of developing prostate cancer. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of lycopene in preventing prostate cancer in patients who are at high risk of developing prostate cancer.

A Phase III Randomized, Open-Label Study of CG1940 and CG8711 Versus Docetaxel and Prednisone in Patients With Metastatic Hormone-Refractory Prostate Cancer Who Are Chemotherapy-Naïve
The purpose of this study is to compare the duration of survival between GVAX® immunotherapy for prostate cancer and chemotherapy treatment in patients with prostate cancer who no longer respond to hormone therapy, who have documented metastases, and who have not been treated with chemotherapy in the past.

Contribution of Canine Detection in the Diagnostic Strategy of High-risk Prostate Cancer
The sense of smell allows both humans and dogs to carry out a chemo-sensory analysis of their environment. Volatile organic compounds enter the nasal cavities and bind to receptors in the nasal mucosa. Neuroepithelium cells perform chemoelectric transduction of olfactory information. The latter is supported by one of the fibers of the olfactory nerve which crosses the cribriform plate of the ethmoid to arrive in the olfactory bulb of the brain. Incorporating this information can lead to behavioral responses. The dog has a sense of smell 100,000 times more sensitive than humans, it is able to detect one particle among 1 trillion. The use of detection dogs involves learning the behavioral response to an olfactory stimulus. Prostate cancer represents 25% of male cancers, it is the second deadliest cancer in France with 10,000 deaths per year. Diagnosis of prostate cancer requires a Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) blood test and a digital rectal examination. In the event of an abnormality in one of these parameters, a prostate MRI is indicated, supplemented by prostate biopsies in the event of an abnormal MRI. However, one situation remains open to discussion: what should be done when faced with a normal MRI despite an abnormal PSA level or digital rectal examination? In this situation and according to current recommendations, the practitioner has the choice between performing prostate biopsies, i.e. an invasive procedure with a high risk of being negative, and simple monitoring, this time with the risk of missing the diagnosis of prostate cancer. Several studies have shown the effectiveness of dogs in detecting very specific volatile organic compounds. Can the investigators train them to detect the catabolites of prostate tumours?

Effects of Soy Isoflavones on the Prostate, Breast and Bone
This study will determine the effects of soy products on in vitro surrogate cancer markers as well as bone density markers and quality of life parameters in men and women. This study will also determine concentrations of isoflavones (naturally occurring plant compounds that act like estrogen in the body) in prostate tissue that has been removed during prostatectomy, as well as in the blood.
